I kept playing for two years. I will play again once I get the bills payed lol. I have kept up with all the updates etc. It seems like its a whole new game from when I started. An remarks on whether I should try to keep going with my level 108 Meta or just start over would be appreciated. I currently have 60 24hr days into her.

Her name is Ara and she is part of the Coven of Hunters. I really miss playing but I have heard a late backlash about the last couple of add ons I am worried.

just do a full IPR- they havent took it out yet- if u need any help when u get bk on send a /tell to Wardz(203 engi)or frootyfix(148 fix) , both are clan on RK2, ill be happy to help

I left for good right before Alien Invasion when Soldiers and MPs got nerfed yet again and again and again.

Played a number of games, but now I'm a lifetime subscriber to LotRO. Keeping my eye on Tabula Rasa though.

Yeah I played since the start too.
When the game was released it was awesome(except for the bugs/lag)

It was perfect for the time. It was really good for the time too.

The new Sci-Fi theme and complexity that belongs to Sci-fi blew my mind.

But then SL came and the fun was over.

It nerfed RK's: Implants, armor, weapons, gadgets, just about everything.
So we bought new gear for 348637 mill credits then started grinding on HECKLERS! YEEHAA...not!

There even was a Heckler farming guild which made FC remove ingots...

Then it was AI time, which made you spend more money on a guild house that you NEVER used, and some lame alien battles.

I do not understand why they had to ruin the magic, it WAS perfrect, but instead of making a NEW world, (-.-) why didn't you just expand the one you had. There was lots of unused areas one the map...

Oh well, I miss it, allot, and I will never feel the magic of AO again...

My first AO account : Account Created 2002-05-02 21:09:22

Since then ive aquired several accounts with full exspansions.

Running a Org(guild) on Rk1, been playing it activly until a few

months ago, loved the fact where they allowed free accounts for

accounts with no exspansions..  much much fun with so many

    new peope.

But after the launch of Lost Eden, ive kinda lost the feeling for AO.

I still run the org, i play sometimes, but they have patched the game

to a point where its almost unplayable, but i sometimes still like

to go on a raid or help a few friends out with something silly. ;)

Love AO, but my needs have grown.

But i havent found any MMO's that forfull the need for information

    and possibilities AO presented.

I play all i can try, And i purchase almost all MMO's as a hardcopy

from local game pushers to play the 30-60 day eval. Some i ewen

upgrade and play for a few months,  But i loose interest way to fast

now, ewen such a beautyfull game as LOTR-online i lost interest

    ewen in the beta.

I want options, Multiple choises, Freedom in the world i play in,

and a commuity thats now overrun with 10-18years.

oh yes enough with the 1337 talk.

    Vaupell

    ------
Playing MMO's since my first which was Ultima online, then Anarchy online. and so on.. ;)
Now a days im very critical before i ewen bother downloading a Free to play mmo.

I also wait for a game for grownups again, with choices, skills, advanced character development in a complex game system. Closest to AO since the dawn of time has be EVE (Funny, that both are scandinavian. Big brains among the vikings) but that did not match my personal taste, even if I appreciate the quality of the product. Now...

I am in MMO limbo, waiting and putting all my hopes in Conan. If that fails.... I will probably be counted as an Ex MMO player in the future. It has turned into kiddiegames with a simplicity that really tired and drunk monkeys would manage to understand, all because there are more normally stupid people in the world than intelligent, and stupid people are more willing to throw money around, even if they dont like the product that much.

Kasimir don't let your hopes down IF Conan fails...

They are developing a second MMO too...

It's called Second World and we know absolutely nothing except for that it's based in the present, but it has a second world behind it.

After the small info we have got, it seems to be a dark and spooky MMO from FC.

The release date is set to 2008 but I don't think that will be achievable from FC; more MMO is alot of work already.

    Only time will tell...

So I ended  up going back to WoW. I tried Vanguard for a short time, a few other classics also, DAoC for example but I just dont find the old style "grind" enjoyable. Its WoW for me until AoC or WAR retail.
Same here, except I play LotRO. Hated Vanguard, though.

I set my hopes in Tabula Rasa for SciFi, but the name just sucks - so that's already a bad sign. It could be great and have that Sci-Fi-MMO-Feeling, but we will have to see about that.

AO had that certain feeling - i can't describe it - but I just loved exploring Rubi-Ka. It WAS a very special game.
  • SoaraSoara Member UncommonPosts: 78

actually, Tabula Rasa is going to be very very much like Anarchy Online

There's a couple things that they could never compare to Anarchy Online,

But I must say, playing the beta, leveling isn't necessarily a grind as much

And the lore and storyline put into it is amazingly creative.

It's not my style, but it should certaintly be for many others.

A little strange AO actually seems to be better than ever and with more people playing it than ever before. In 2006 alone, Funcom reported that a total 400000 new players joined up. Of course they didnt say how many left. Assuming Funcom's numbers are right, there should be a player base of around 700,000 players in that game right now, probably just waiting for something good to hit the market. Lets hope they wont have to wait 5 years more...

Well, yeah AO is a great game -- I Loved it!!, but I cannot stand the old graphics, its just something that must be in an MMO for me -- great graphics.

Nothing atm, theres no good alternative on the market, as I'm not into playing dwarves and happy elves. Looking forward to Q4 2007/Q1 2008.

I came to this game about a year after starting Asheron's Call because I heard a few of my monarchy mates talking about it.  I was warned that the game was highly buggy due to be so new, but leaving AC was a definate positive.  I believe that other than Asheron's Cal, the pre-Shadowlands was one of the best gaming experiences that I have ever had.  I left shortly after the Shadowlands released, and have somewhat regretted that as the games I played afterwards were somewhat depressing grindfests.  With the exception to SWG (pre-NGE), most of the MMORPGs available to date have been fairly disappointing.

At this point I often find myself jumping from online game to online gaming hoping to re-experience the classic AO experience.  To date, I am unable to do this.  I'm hoping to be able to fall back on Tabula Rasa because when originally designed it looked a lot like a cross between Anarchy Online and Asheron's Call, but after seeing recent screenshots I'm leery.

I wish that someone would make a game with a gameplay system similar to AO where people are inspired to roleplay.  LOTRO comes close with their musical instruments, but is still far from it as they have pure quest grinding afterwards.

Let it be known that I hate WoW with a passion and will defend almost any MMORPG against it.
    Current: FFXI (PC/360)

I was in AO beta and then on to retail for the first few hellish days.  Couldnt handle the mem-leak and came back once it was fixed.  I MISS AO's community and the M rating and sit in limbo waiting for something else similar to come along.  Sad that most games are for the teenage crowd, leaving us older gamers stuck in no-mans land.

Am currently playing WoW and eagerly awaiting a spot in the many upcoming betas.

Veteran for a little over 2 years, started about 3 months after release.

Played EVE for a bit then came back to check out what AI was all about.

I could stomach SL, but AI completely ruined it for me..

The PVP aspect of the game died, it's pretty much for people with AI armor only now, which is insanely expensive.

    Goodbye AO.

I play WoW currently, will probably leave WoW for EQ2 or AoC.

I beta tested AO and then came back a year after launch to play full time. What an amazing game. I wish more games had it's depth. Anyway I've played alot of games since I left. Vanguard had a community that was as good as the AO community. (mostly mature and helpful) But I'm currently playing Granado Espada just because it's alot of fun. (pachebel server, Bloodletter family)

I play City of Heroes now.  I really liked Anarchy Online.  I played Anarchy Online it at the very beginning- not to mention it was the first game of this type I had ever played.  A little too much depth for me- fun though.

I play EvE online and I might get into age of conan when thats released. The only reason I quit AO was because they didnt have PvP in shadowlands , do they have PvP in SL now?

Currently playing WoW and LotRO, and hoping to get time to try out Vanguard again soon to see what improvements have been made. WoW doesn't really take much time, and I'm only trying out LotRO for a month, so I'd like to also go back to some other games for a month or so while waiting for new titles.

I played AO on and off for a while, right through the onset of all the expansions, and while it did have a lot of cool features, I found the gfx very dated, even the anims etc. I know it's not the most important aspect but it had a lot of sway on my enjoyment.

I played WoW for over a year and really enjoyed it but after 60 it got pretty lame unless you were in a massive end game guild, and those people are tools.

I'm playing Eve right now and enjoying it, especially as I can train my skills in real time while I'm busting my balls at work.

I'm also beta testing Tabula Rasa and I have to say it's looking awesome. For anyone looking for the Sci Fi hope of the future, TR could well be it. A hefty mix of FPS and RPG alongside some typical MMO features. There's still quite a bit of work to be done, and I'm not seeing much of the revelatory features Garriott was on about, but it's definitely different enough to feel fresh, and similar enough to feel comfortable, so if you're waiting in hope, hang on, it'll be worth it!

Don't recall when i first got anarchy but think the game was rather new, still have 2 active accounts both payed that i started playing more now that i deleted wow, but i also have active accounts in eve, swg, matrix, eq1, eq2, vanguard but as it feels right now everquest and anarchy are the ones i miss the most, played eq1 since 2001 and that was my first mmo.

I've been bouncing around PS, GW and WOW. I do log AO every now and then though.  AO is still the best mmorpg IMO. I do miss hanging out in lush fields though. every now and then i swing out there and see a froob party at the NW mines.

I played the game from pretty close to release to the release of AI. This game is definetly up there next to EQ1(the good one) as one of my favorite MMORPGs. I have tried SWG,COX and Lineage 2 since AO and none of them compare. I just liked the whole idea of becoming a warmachine by installing symbiants into every part of your body.  I liked how Good Vs evil was very well defined and obvious. If Funcom had done the graphical update years ago I belive this game would still be a major contender.  To answer the question im playing a little game called Dungeon Runners right now. 99% of the game is instanced but its still fun.
