I just don't think a game can be much worse than Vanguard.
I honestly never thought I'd say this, but a NGE might actually make VG worth a damn.
OK, give me an honest reason why VG is as bad as you suggest..? Or is it that your 14 years old aswell and can't afford a modern Rig like the rest of the people who complain about Vanguard..?

What the heck the game is already broken, with SOE it will be Doomed.
Yeah but the fallout will be vastly more entertaining than the game actually was.
Hahaha.. Unfortunately that is true.
The train wreck is far more interesting than the train was.
That is why even after I gave up on VG almost 2 months ago, I still feel drawn to these boards .. it's sick, I know.. but I can't help it.
You havnt played VG in 2 months...? And you still basing your gameplay on that early release..? I guess you lied. Because I too playedM59 and even Beta tested UO (and EQ), use to play D&D and AD&D and loved Ashron's Call.
But what I don't get is your inability to cut Sigil slack where you obviouslygiven every other MMORPG house a break. EQ was buggy upon release (March 16th, 1999) and for the following months. Certain mob in dungeons were still stick figures a few days after release. It's not even close to the game that it was upon release. These games grow and get better after each and every week.
You know this. WoW had some class balancing to do and alot of mini-bugs to shore up once the game went live. Hell, I remeber the appearance of my armor uses to change when I zones the first couple weeks of WoW's release. Point is, Vanguard premis and gameworld are unsurpassed. Ridding around on a Hellhound, Boat or having a freestanding GuildHouse (ala UO) hasn't been since in 9 Years...!
WoW is a great game, but it's story line and it's game play are ment for a different demigraphic. And even though Vanguard is based off High Fantasy Novel like adventure, doesnt mean that every kid is going to like or care for depth.... when all he is facenated upon is the sparklies and kewl colors. WoW is more like a game, more arcadish. Vanguard is like an epic adventure, predicated off a story line such as "Sword of Shannarra, Dragonlance..etc"
Vanguard will actually start puicking up subs come October'ish. Alot of people are burnt out on Burning Crusade, growing tired of EQ and EQ2, they would have seen all of LOTR and the only thing left for them to turn to would be VG. And buy that time, many of the kids who don't have the greatest computer will have had Birthdaysd and graduations... thus new computers and start to find VG enjoyable.

umm you may want to invest in spellcheck or hooked on phonics. Your whole premise about how great VG will be is based on people getting better computers is priceless. Oh and hate to break your fanboy heart but come around "October'ish" Warhammer and Conan will be out
But plz do not quit posting like you have been and for God sakes man make those screen shots bigger! It's really making you out to look like a Vanguard Genius!!
The guy with the screenshots cracks me up. He really thinks they look good lol.
Can you imagine this fanboy cropping and editing the shots to prove how great the game is. Cracks me up.
All I know is if I come up with a crappy game I hope he plays it and posts his ass off on the forums about how great I am lmao!
I bet he was one of the D&L boys as well
Ok you're a cool dude. Leader of the gang so to speak.
Tell me though why are you bashing the graphics in VG, isn't that already that it is a stated fact that it is good. Shouldn't you rather bash the gameplay. Instead of hitting everything you can in your way, randomly.

Ok you was fast correcting your 'wil' into 'will' so lets go for misspeling one if the easiest word to spell.
But c'mon you think you come out any different then the other guy, rabiant bashing everything you can see and get hold of.

But your a cool dude, anyway. Very true the graphics are good in VG (honestly they could be better if they did more that one lighting pass.. blah blah) but his screens are not! If he's going to take the time then plz take good ones and make them links not place them in his sig. It would also help if he would make sense in his posts as well instead of just comming off as a complete fanboy.

Yes but many times it is just the other side of the same coin. Like my previous post about the misspelling part.

And the fanboys like him don't bash those of us that are not happy with the game?

Well my native language is not english and I didn't start the famed spellcheck flame, did I?
And the funs part as I write that is that you actually bother to go back and corrected that minor misspelling. Why? Because you was flaming his misspelling in first place, otherwise I dont think you would have bothered to change 'wil'

NO... I've been playing these game since their inception. Back when the internet was pay by the hour. I have beta tested some 14 MMORPG's and played even a few more. Certain games I've acheived elite status, other games i just ran around like an asshat enjoying and having fun within the game.
Very few monumental games come out. EQ was one of them, Vanguard is the next. Everquest took stodgy 3d isometric games like UO and broaght it into true 3 dimensional landscape and environment. WoW, is nothing more than a different theme on a current platform. If you pklayed Everquest, Dark Age of Camelot, then you've played WoW. Blizzard, didn't invent anything, just brought their franchise into the MMORPG market using current features from existing games. Dumed down the requirments and made things easier as to attract new customers instead of current ones.
Vanguard is above that. It added aspects missing in other MMORPG's and layed out a game world, with freeform adventure. No bottlenecks, no choke-oints, no direction. A vague world where you figure it out, where you alone determine what your going to do. Boats, housing, Mounts, Diplomacy, enormous dungeons.... I mean friggn HUGE!.
LOTR bring nothing new to the table..... thus without even playing it we veterans can say "Been there, done that". LOTR is nothing more than DOAC with a Tolkieness theme. Granted, i have bought the game and will play it for a few months. Only becuase I started reading the books back in the 70's and have layed in bed dreaming about middel-earth throught my childhood. Yet, as the game stands now....
..it has no sustainability. Just like D&D Online had no sustainability. It nice graphics and pipe smoking... but it's all fluff.
Read my post history on Dark & Light. I called it a flop 3 month before they released the game.
The problem i have is that people are hating on VG, but lieing to do it..! Most, if not all of the tards complaining about VG own sub-par computers. So a majority of their complaints stem from the fact they couldn't have an enjoyable experience with VG because it requires a lofty PC spec.
Hey Fong Tsai, I encourage you to continue to post your screenies. Any sucker who buys the game based on them will quickly find out that they will probably not be able to make the game look as good. In fact, most of them will have to turn the settings down so low that trees will start looking like something out of runescape. At that point the rage will set in and a new hater will be born.
What I would like to see from you and your 'lofty' pc is a pic with the same settings and the FPS counter up, taken in a crowded setting. It would be preferable to see a shot in town at the mailbox or broker, perhaps you could hit up Tursh real fast. I bet my bottom dollar that all the talk about the improvements of late is all lies and exaggeration and you will not be able to show me a decent FPS.
Hey man, whats up with your guild Ascension, half your peeps haven't played in over 2 weeks? I thought this game was getting better and better?
I can understand the sentiment related to the anti-SOE perspective, really I can. But I just want to ask, could they REALLY do much worse than Sigil already has? Honestly. Vanguard was an MMO miscarriage; it was dead before it even was born. Sigil and Brad over-hyped the game, and prematurely released an inferior product that has crashed and burned. Hardware issues, performance problems, the continual swinging of the nerf bat (BEFORE fixing functionality issues too, might I add). Sigil and co. have proven they have most definitely NOT got the talent to make it in this industry, and if we're all lucky, anyone and everyone associated with this project will never work in the business again. At least with SOE, they have a budget. They can afford to stream in new content, and pay new programmers to work on fixing the game. They specialize in purchasing dead/dying games, and trying to turn them around. I don't believe VG will ever succeed, but maybe they could at least offer it some redemption. I hope SOE acquires the product; humble Brad and his big mouth once and for all. Let the McQuaid fanboi's realize he's not some noble, dignified visionary, but just another guy trying to make a buck. If nothing else, SOE can at least give the dead horse a proper burial. Best of luck to SOE, hopefully you can salvage something from the train wreck that is Vanguard.
Spoken like a true newbie... You were 13 years old when I was beta testing Everquest. There warn't games like Oblivion, Never Winter Nights, there was no Battlefield or Halo...
Everquest was the vision of Brad McQuaid. And the sole reason why you started playing WoW in highschool. Everquest was such a HUGE success that other companies saw what returning revenues in the form of a monthly subscription can do. Everquest didn't advertise, it was word of mouth. And only people who had internet could play back then. You wouldn't know because you just started playing these types of games. The exact same why you wouldn't know about VG, because you don't play it.
You speak so awfully of VG it makess me wonder where you get such comments. What performance "problems"..? What Hardware issues..? Why would Sigil be in trouble..? Even at the naysayers 70k subs, Sigil is still pulling in $980,000/month. When you grow up and graduate to a High-Fantasy MMORPG, you'll understand the premiss of VG, and not the arcade aspect of WoW.
VG is based off high fantasy novel that inspired us all when we were kids. ie. Sword of Shannarra, Betrayal at Krondor, Dragonlance...etc. WoW is based off an RTS.
-Zvorak
Haha, I love it when people resort to personal attacks. Clearly, because you're older than I am, I am unable to discern a quality product from rubbish. Right.
As others have said, you were wrong about Everquest, and either way, you were still wrong anyway. I haven't been in high school in some time either, so please, refrain from the "I'm 30+ years old, and therefore superior to you, kiddy" remarks. All that proves to me is that age is a poor indicator of maturity.
If you can't read through these forums to spot performance problems, I'm not going to do your homework for you, sorry. As for Sigil being in trouble, I'm pretty sure Brad himself said (and if I'm wrong, correct me) they needed around 90k subs to generate a profit. So if they are in fact at 70k, then they would be in financial trouble.
Again, referencing the WoW hatred...at no point did I mention WoW. Why is it that Vanguard fans feel the need to bash WoW at every given chance? My apologies that VG is not even a competitor to WoW, but please, stop the mindless, unprovoked WoW bashing. It gets old, quick.

You're officially a hypocrite. You've condemned people throughout the topic for complaining about VG after having only played it for a month, yet you're complaining about LOtRO after having never even played it at all.
So what I've gathered from you and Yarisagos is that Vanguard fans generally are hypocrites who stem all of VG's problems to "tards owning sub-par computers".
I think I'm finished with this topic.

This "rumor" may be much more than a rumor after all.
Aradune Speaks Regarding SOE/Vanguard
A new forum has appeared on SOE's tech support forums for Vanguard designed to allow a place for SOE/Vanguard discussion. While not exceptionally revealing right now, Aradune opened the forum promising more info regarding the recent rumors of SOE's purchase of Vanguard and/or Sigil soon:

Ladies and gentlemen, ask yourself, when one of the biggest haters of a particullar game on a website dedicated to online games is a staff writer, how unbiased is the site?
I've said it once and I'll say it again. No matter how large you make the disclaimer at the bottom of your posts, having an employee of a website posting his opinion, either negetive or positive, on a game is unprofessional.
KIDS, read this site and the things you write. Impressionable, and easily influenced, Kids that can be guided away from or towards a game by a staff writer.
Ever heard of the term "mob mentality". Could you imagine what having the words "staff writer" under your name could impress upon people when you express your view on a topic. No disclaimer is going to make the title staff writer disapear.
You should try posting under an anonymous name. The only VG hater that truelly pisses me off is the one that WORKS for the website they are posting negetivety on.
I don't get PAID to write so I apologize for the gramatical errors.
PS: I'm wondering how proffesional it is for a staff writer to call someone a hypocrit on the website they work for.
it's not the end of the world. at least it won't go under. SOE has issues, but some MMO's wouldn't be here if they didn't step in financially and do this. if they do this they must see some type of potential in it (profit and subscription base).
i'm sure i'll get a stubborn response about them choosing "B", but what would you rather have A. it up and running full system with SOE backing it up or B. it being closed down in 6 months?
I don't play it, but if I did I wouldn't want it to be shut down. The concept is out there so SOE can't do that much to it because it already has it's base story/graphics/gameplay.
They did the same thing with MxO and SOE hasn't hardly touched that game, they just support it and keep the servers up which is great.
I think a lot of you are confusing games made by SOE and games supported by SOE.
this game is fun but the performance is kinda of bad you dont need an awsome comp to play it i have an outdated 3.2ghz p4 and a 6200gt in the other room that plays it fine

I believe myself, and the management have stated their opinion on this matter once before. I'm sorry you feel the need to necro matters which have already been discussed in order to try and discredit both myself and the website.
However, it's like my quote says. My job is to write objective reviews and such, but outside of my job, I'm open to freely express my opinion. It's unfortunate that you are so adamantly against this, but it's not going to change the fact that I can, and will continue to post on this site.

I'm not saying you shouldn't post. Hate the game that's cool.
I'm saying it's more professional, regardless of what the people that operate the site post on the topic, to post with an anonymous name that doesn't have the words staff writer directly under it.
Do you really think I'm the only adult that sees the staff writers posting thier negetivety over a game under thier site name and things, "geez, these guys can't really be serious about being objective."?
Being grounded in reality I would have to imagine that game companies find this sort of thing discouraging as well. I know I would be weary of a site with employees bashing my product.

Vanguard offers Everything...
umm you may want to invest in spellcheck or hooked on phonics. Your whole premise about how great VG will be is based on people getting better computers is priceless. Oh and hate to break your fanboy heart but come around "October'ish" Warhammer and Conan will be outBut plz do not quit posting like you have been and for God sakes man make those screen shots bigger! It's really making you out to look like a Vanguard Genius!!
Tell me though why are you bashing the graphics in VG, isn't that already that it is a stated fact that it is good. Shouldn't you rather bash the gameplay. Instead of hitting everything you can in your way, randomly.
But your a cool dude, anyway.
I'm so broke. I can't even pay attention.
"You have the right not to be killed"
But c'mon you think you come out any different then the other guy, rabiant bashing everything you can see and get hold of.

But your a cool dude, anyway. Very true the graphics are good in VG (honestly they could be better if they did more that one lighting pass.. blah blah) but his screens are not! If he's going to take the time then plz take good ones and make them links not place them in his sig. It would also help if he would make sense in his posts as well instead of just comming off as a complete fanboy.

Yes but many times it is just the other side of the same coin. Like my previous post about the misspelling part.

Ok you was were fast at correcting your 'wil' into 'will' so lets go for misspeling misspelling one if the easiest word to spell.
But c'mon you think you come out any different then the other guy, rabiant? (not a known word) bashing everything you can see and get hold of.
And the fanboys like him don't bash those of us that are not happy with the game?

Well my native language is not english and I didn't start the famed spellcheck flame, did I?
And the funs part as I write that is that you actually bother to go back and corrected that minor misspelling. Why? Because you was flaming his misspelling in first place, otherwise I dont think you would have bothered to change 'wil'
into 'will'. One single misspelled word.
I'm so broke. I can't even pay attention.

Waiting for something fresh to arrive on the MMO scene...
So what I've gathered from you and Yarisagos is that Vanguard fans generally are hypocrites who stem all of VG's problems to "tards owning sub-par computers".
I think I'm finished with this topic.

Captain Brad: What happen?
VGplayer: Somebody set up us the bomb.
Vanboy: We get signal.
Captain Brad: What !
Vanboy: Main screen turn on.
Captain Brad: It's you !!
SOE: How are you gentlemen !!
SOE: All your games are belong to us.
SOE: You are on the way to bankruptcy.
Captain Brad: What you say !!
SOE: You have no chance to survive make your time
SOE: Ha Ha Ha Ha ....
Vanboy: Captain Brad !!
Captain Brad: Take off every Dev !!
Captain Brad: You know what you doing.
Captain Brad: Move Dev.
Captain Brad: For great justice.
This "rumor" may be much more than a rumor after all.
thanks,
-Brad

PS: I'm wondering how proffesional it is for a staff writer to call someone a hypocrit on the website they work for.
i'm sure i'll get a stubborn response about them choosing "B", but what would you rather have A. it up and running full system with SOE backing it up or B. it being closed down in 6 months?
I don't play it, but if I did I wouldn't want it to be shut down. The concept is out there so SOE can't do that much to it because it already has it's base story/graphics/gameplay.
They did the same thing with MxO and SOE hasn't hardly touched that game, they just support it and keep the servers up which is great.
I think a lot of you are confusing games made by SOE and games supported by SOE.
