I'm assuming they were talking on their realm forums, or maybe someone she knew was on the opposite faction.

The language isn't entirely gibberish. Blizzard takes dsciplinary actions against players who know how to speak in the other languages especially if they built translation programs.

Still the amount of players who are dedicated to do that is miniscule.

So a more plausible scenario is a second account. This guy not only admitted to giving out his address but also stated he was determined to harrass her. In other pvp games players could get temp bans or an excessive notoriety for ganking frequently so they always had an additional account so they can resume their activities like the cockaroaches they are.

THe article isn't detailed enough in explaining how determined he was in getting to her so what I'm saying is still speculation but if lamers like him existed almost 10 years ago I don't find it hard to believe it now.

The best part about this article is that they took the time to damage his hand and arms along with destroying their computer. image

Definitely lacking in plausibility. Regardless, why was the woman playing on a PvP server if she didnt want to PvP?

You have the realm forums on wow's website and most servers have a public Vent or chat room for people to talk outside of the game. It still sounds fishy though.

i really thought about this for alot of hours and asked most likely all i know, and we came up with a brilliant idea to solve the problem.... ready for the 1 mio. question? ........ here go's : Dont give ur adresss away

omg i really just cant take serious, some ppl are just freaking stupid from time to time.
  • neschrianeschria Member UncommonPosts: 1,406

LOL... Ok, kids, let's review again: Don't give someone your address unless you are purposely inviting them to come kick your ass and wreck your stuff.

((EDIT: Whether it is true or not, it's still a great story with a lesson in it too. LOL))

hmm, u can speak to the other faction in WoW.... but well if both are alive ^^ dunno if they fixed it.... but they could both be hunters, get a pet and name it what u wanna say, dismiss pet and take a new one and respond and so on ;) but ummm chance are pretty small when she got ganked all the time

Dang that is too funny and well actually too too sad. Why would anyone get so worked up over a game that gets them no where, no income, no advancement, no purpose to actually physically hurt someone is ridiculous. Woohoo -lets hear it for the human race! "If you beat me in checkers agian, I'll break your fingers!" I think we just all need to be reahbilitated. ------ sarcasm.

Ummm, Official forums, guild forums, 3rd party forums? MSN, ICQ, AIM? Email?

I know it's a radical idea logging out of WoW, and all, but it does happen.

As for the guy getting clipped in the grill for ganking? Well, don't be an ass on the interwebs because it's not as anonymous as you think, nevermind actually being less than bright enough to give out ones address.

The guy, and his wife, are still whiny bitches for acting like that over getting ganked in a video game, though.

8 million people playing WOW> this was statistically bound to happen

Its prolly happened many times before, this was just the first to be picked up by the news and posted here

I don''t really know when Humankind will die out but i''m guessing about 6 years before WOW.

    World of Warcraft. Serious business.

Important: No, I don't really think PVP should be removed, please read the article first before posting, thanks.
Basically, this is the second report I have seen in this forum web site. The other incident was an altercation because of a riff in Lineage 2. For the most part, PvP is handled fairly well by the average player.  Thank God most players are of normal mental make-up.  However, there are those that do have social-emotional issues and play these game on a regular basis.

It is my contention that anything taken to an extreme is not healthy for you.  If you add mental issues to that formula, then you have a recipe for real life problems.

There are several studies out there on the effects of extended game playing on human behavior.

    Google it...very interesting reading...

At this point I don't know what I find more disappointing, the possibility that someone used real violence to retaliate against mmo PvP as permitted by the game mechanics or the number of people here that feel that said violence was justified...
  • BernoullyBernoully Member Posts: 174

Imagine if a skilled Pong Online player kept annoying another player with consecutive wins and non-funny taunts. Then violence happens, and makes it to online news. Let's remove all traces of competitive gameplay and have single player empire-building games. Oh wait... they'd still fight. Remove games from existence.

Heheh, I get Gameloading's point. But let's point out that games shouldn't continue to dumb down further because gankers are having so much fun these days they actually send their address away in a dare game.

Well to start with, what that silly kid was doing is not pvp, he was just persistantly making a asshat out of himself.

If you constantly camp a body, you have serious issues in life and need to see a shrink pronto.  You should not be playing a stupid game if you are that ill.

The story would have been more hilarious if the ganker met his assailants with a shotgun and killed one of them.  "You were going to defend someone's virtual character by beating me up?  I'd tell you to get a life, but it's too late now."

So getting a shotgun and and actually killing a person in real life is funny?

Maybe some of us are somewhat desensitized by violence.

as myself and quite a few people I've met have said, there's got to be something wrong with the person playing the game already if they can't distinguish between a game and real life, games have no influence whatsoever.

Quoting people doesn't make you clever, in fact, it makes you all the more stupid for not bothering to read the quotes you post in the first place.

Am I the only one who thinks that the wife and her husband are lowlifes for taking it so seriously to injure a person in real life?

I can understand there are some (far to many) idiots that you will find in onlinegames but that goes to far...
  • LiddokunLiddokun Member UncommonPosts: 1,665

I find the article funny because the guy is an idiot for giving out his RL address. He should count himself lucky that the woman's husband didn't go after him with a gun then the news would have become frontpage material -- Man dead from griefing in WOW PvP -- Government intervenes and bans pvp from all online games.
