The story would have been more hilarious if the ganker met his assailants with a shotgun and killed one of them. "You were going to defend someone's virtual character by beating me up? I'd tell you to get a life, but it's too late now."

What a shame... If someone breaks into another's home and threatens the homeowner's safety (with a bunch of friends, no less), then they deserve whatever the homeowner can dish out. If it's an attempt to correct an injustice that happened in-game, that's what turns it from "just defense" to "comedy".
its pvp that makes games replayable. without it it would be pointless to keep playin games.
Exactly. Remove all forms of competiton from a game and what you have is a single player game to solve.
