Im so very sick of all the really decent looking games, games that look like they could do well in the PC world, going to the Platforms..
Here is just another example of that, I could really see this as a MMOFPS but nope to the 360 and PS3 it will go.

You see, every mammal on this planet instinctively develops a natural equilibrium with their surrounding environment, but you humans do not. You spread to an area, and you multiply, and you multiply, until every natural resource is consumed. The only way you can survive is to spread to another area. There is another organism on this planet that follows the same pattern. Do you know what it is? A virus. Human beings are a disease, a cancer of this planet.-Mr.Smith

Hm, lets see, started with Dreamcast being able to use a Modem to go online to play games and surf the internet with the DC browser. Followed up by broadband units for PS2 and Gamecube. Xbox comes along with a built-in HD, gets hacked few years later so you can install linux and run emulators and watch some video formats. 360 and PS3 come out, with ATI and Nvidia build cards utilizing DX9 ...
Hm, looks to me like game consoles are getting more and more like computers, instead of computers getting more and more like gaming consoles. I have 360 controller and my PC is as good as any console (I dont need xbox live kthx, especially pay for one). If I put my KB and mouse to 360 ... it will still be a 360.
Yeah ...
Dont like to spend "$2000"? First of all no one is forcing you to own a PC and second of all, L2bulid-your-own-rig. With $2000 you can have a state of the art computer, you can build one to play "latest games" for less than $800 if you count the fact that you will keep using your old monitor/speakers/mouse/kb/HDs/soundcard.

"Imo, the faster PC gaming dies, the better. I'm sick and tired of spending 2000$ just to be able to play the latest games."
Considering most MMOGs are PC format, that makes no sense. PCs will always offer superior gameplay for cutting edge and large scale games like the MMOG genre. Besides, I bet you spend as much upgrading your console models and buying multiple consule brands in order to play various games. PC is much more flexible and customizable and can be used for other things besides gaming. Consules are for kids.
Yes so that way we can spend increasing amount sof money to buy a new console every 2 to 3 years that cost an increasing amount of money, then charge you isane prices for extras like extra controllers so that eventually we're spending 2000 dollars anyway. You really don't save any money atleast with pc's your games work longer. I mean look at all our fav atari and nintendo games from back in the day..not one of those cartidges work in anything other than the machine it was made for.
Personally no one is forcing you to own the baddest newest equiptment to play games. If you're hurting over spending 2000 bucks on a computer than ... maybe you should think about cheaper parts or waiting for the better parts to drop in price. Or maybe you should buy parts that upgrade easier so that 2000 bucks lasts you longer.
PC gaming is dying to some extent as more developers turn mostly to console but there are still excellent games that come out for the PC and the MMO's still work far better on PC then they do on consoles. I love my pc.....I love it far more than I do my consoles.
btw OP..just because the video is pretty and the terrain deformation is definitly cool (and really memory expensive which makes me wonder how good the game really is if a good bit of processing time goes to putting holes in the ground), but that doesn't make it a GOOD game going to a console. It just makes it a fancy game going to a console.

Back on the topic,I looked at the video and wasnt as impressed as I thought I would be, as I enjoyed the Jedi Knight and Kotor series, unless they spruce up the cut scence they showed it could stay platform only.
But intresting concept to say the least.
If your PC is as good as any console, then you just proved my point. why should I pay so much money for a PC when I can get the same on a much cheaper console? 800$ you say? Try beating 350$ with your fancy computer and we'll talk.

2 or 3 years? Make that 5 of 6 years, and by that time, you have probably spend more money on upgrades then you would have on a new console. also it depends on the console. I can play Playstation 1 games on a playstation 3, and an Xbox1 games on the xbox360
Neat, some of those things (re: video) would be very nifty in an Unreal Tournament-like setting.
Meh, I'll get a 360 eventually anyway. So whatever. Bring on the good games no matter where they are. Goodness knows we need them.
How about you use console just for gaming and you go ahead and buy every thing that a PC can do separately ...
WTB Shadowbane 2
Well, gee.... id think becuase the PC can do tons of things the console cant.
If you only used your PC for games, well than you might have a point thats at least debatable. But even than, you'd have to consider that the PC game player was actaully getting "training" and knowledge with a tool he's likely to use in his work or school.
BUT for people like me, who use our PCs for life and work NOT game related, its no contest about whether we buy a PC or a console IF we can only have one for some reason.
How about you use console just for gaming and you go ahead and buy every thing that a PC can do separately ... I don't. in fact, a lot of people don't. Things like internet browsing, office, can be done on an old pentium. and heck, you can do that on a gaming console as well
But what kind of arguement is that? "Well I can do other stuff with my PC" we're talking about games here. Many of those expensive upgrades are for games, you don't spend hundreds of dollars for a new video card for microsoft office you know.
USB ports? HDs? Remember game cartriges(sp)? Consoles are not "only gaming" either, think about chatting, downloads, browsing web, watching movies.

Turn to Tool! Behold the amazing power of the Tool Lyrics! Be saved! Turn to the newly crowned Emperor Draenor and be free of sin! Open your third eye!
Dreaming of that face again
It's bright and blue and shimmering
Grinning wide
And comforting me with its three warm and wild eyes
On my back and tumbling
Down that hole and back again
Rising up
And wiping the webs and the dew from my withered eye
In... Out... In... Out... In... Out...
A child's rhyme stuck in my head
It said that life is but a dream
I've spent so many years in question
to find I've known this all along
"So good to see you
I've missed you so much
So glad it's over
I've missed you so much
Came out to watch you play
Why are you running?"
Shrouding all the ground around me
Is this holy crow above me
Black as holes within a memory
And blue as our new second sun
I stick my hand into his shadow
To pull the pieces from the sand
Which I attempt to reassemble
To see just who I might have been
I do not recognize the vessel,
But the eyes seem so familiar
Like phosphorescent desert buttons
Singing one familiar song...
"So good to see you
I've missed you so much
So glad it's over
I've missed you so much
Came out to watch you play
Why are you running away?"
Prying open my third eye
So good to see you once again
I thought that you were hiding
And you thought that I had run away
Chasing the tail of dogma
I opened my eye and there we were
So good to see you once again
I thought that you were hiding from me
And you thought that I had run away
Chasing a trail of smoke and reason
Prying open my third eye
I saved a lot of money because I own a PC. Torrents.

A whole new way to cause carpel tunnel too since they don't make ergonomic ways to game on a console. Honestly I'd rather not chat and surf the net on my tv i get far better resolution on my computer monitor. So then not only do I have to upgrade a console ever few years or even less in some cases eventually to play the games right I'd have to up date my tv which is far more expensive than updating a pc.
If you dont' wanna play PC games then don't play them. Sell your PC or scrap it and play console. Hell why are you even here if you Hate PC gaming so much and wish it to die? PC gaming came AFTER consoles and Windows Vista is actually PUSHING for better PC games so what if there's fewer titles atleast MOST if not all the titles that come put for PC are better than half the games that come out on consoles.
PC gaming won't die, far more people buy PC because you use them for alot more than a console. I certaintly couldn't imagine doing my job hooked up to a console, infact it would suck since you can't MULTI TASK on a console. When you stick that game in thats all you can do is game. Atleast on my pc I can game, chat, surf the net, program, and create art all at once if I wanted too.
Could consoles eventually be able to do all that a PC can as far as using printers and other things like that? I believe so, but I hardly see that putting PC's out of business, since PC's are needed for jobs, projects, school and more. And consoles are primarily created to run games, they're dedicated game machines and NOT as powerful a PC when it comes to certain processes.
As long as a PC is needed by a user, games will exist on it and for that I'm thankful. I Love being able to play games while im on break at work (sometimes an hour to just sit there if I'm not going out to lunch is incredibly boring you know). As long as us folks stuck behind a desk for a job need games there will be games. (because i doubt companies like the one i work out will go out and buy an xbox 360 for us to play with at work).

Incorrect. You can connect your Console to a computer monitor Also, I connect my Xbox360 to an early 90 tv and it works just as good, so what is your point?

I play PC games because unfortunatly, the majority of my favorite games is released on the PC, not on consoles. thats why I clearly said I HOPE Pc gaming dies. if PC gaming dies, then the same games as on a PC will be released on consoles.

Dumbed down? Dumbed down has nothing to do with the games being on a console, lol. Its a 4 player mode on purpose. also, 15 hours for 60$ again has nothing to do with the game being for PC or console.

I just hate crushing dreams I mean...honestly PC gaming is not going to die. Far more people around the world OWN computers over consoles which makes the pc gaming market bigger. Its just unfortantly so many PC games are now going to console, but whatever floats your boat for dreams.
Consoles may hook up to a computer monitor but that kinda defeats the purpose in my mind of a console who wants to sit a desk for a console game?
I'm just curious of why you dont see that economically its no cheaper to have a console than a PC since you have to invest in FAR more extra add ons to even play consoles. Extra controllers for your friends 30 bucksa pop, memory cards, bigger hard drives in some cases, not only do you have to pay for your cable connection but if you wanna play games online you have to pay a Microsoft Xbox Live fee too (granted its only yearly but still its another 30 to 40 bucks a year) PLUS consoles only update every 2 to 3 years leaving them BEHIND in the technology market during that 2 to 3 year span.
If you're not out for the greatest and latest in parts right away you'll only spend that 2000 bucks every 3 to 4 years. Its not much of a trade off considering ever 2 to 3 years you spend 600 to 800 dollars (not counting any extras) for a console. 2000 bucks every 3 to 4 years for a fully new computer that you can upgrade over time and you only need a mouse and a keyboard to play with or 600 to 800 bucks plus 30 dollars a pop for all the extras you need every 2 to 3 years.
You can't update a console's hardware, that defeats the purpose of their creation at the moment. Console's are supposedly to all be the same internally so that games don't need all the super benchmarking between types. So consoles have a bigger chance of dying out only to become PC's. kinda funny right?
Maybe its just me and my funky brain of funnily logical reasoning when it comes to money only (im far from logical on most things but money im absolutely logical / a miser with)
Please Refer to Doom Cat with all conspiracies & evil corporation complaints. He'll give you the simple explination of..WE"RE ALL DOOMED!
They are only behind slightly. the difference between Oblivion PC (on a high end) and Oblivion consoles (especialy the PS3) is not that big. and by the time games become too advanced, a new console comes out, which will roughly be the same price as it takes to upgrade your old computer to run those new games.
Also, you already did the math yourself. every 3 to 4 years 2000$, or every 3 to 4 years (No,there is not a new generation of consoles comming out every 2 years) 400$? thats a price difference of 1600$! I bought my PC for 1200$ last year. Playing Oblivion on it is decent, but it seriously lacks behind the XBox360, which came out in 2005.
I should clear up my first post though. I am not really against PC gaming, I am against Companies making PC exclusives.
Saying PC gaming is cheaper then console gaming is a joke.
Yea its 400 bucks now but the next one won't be 400 bucks. Atleast the prices for building a computer are fairly constant. Infact my newest one cost me 300 dollars less than the one before it and its about 5 times better and with a 250 gig hard drive for all the other stuff I do besides game. Maybe if I was JUST a gamer and I didn't work on a computer, build stuff on a computer etc etc I'd agree wit your point of view.
Infact 400 bucks only gets you the machine, the needed basics to run it but it doesn't get you all the goodies for your friends to play with you which IMO is a waste since consols were designed for hanging out with your friends and playing together. So that tacts on another 50 bucks per 3 more controls making the price of that 400 bucks 550, then if you want to play some super cool racing games with the feel of a race wheel in your hand thats a 150 bucks so your now at 700 dollars for JUST ONE of those. Want to charge and play those wireless controllers while playing? well if you have four controllers thats about 80 bucks for the Play and Charge kit so your now at 780 bucks. Want wireless ether net connection to rid of all those nasty cables that build up? 100 bucks now 880 bucks. Since machines like the Xbox 360 and even the PS3 have cooling problems (unless you got lucky with one of the ones that worked properly) thats another 20 bucks 900 bucks.
So now without even a game you've 900 bucks...the machine is good a couple of years. Then you have to completely spend that 900 bucks (or more since prices go up when ever a new console comes out) and alot of the times the machines aren't properly backwards compatible with each other unlike a PC where my mouse and keyboard never need to upgrade unless I break them. YOU HAVE to buy the new system for the new console games but you don't have to update your computer for new games Unless you want to play everything at max and even then if you spent wisely the first time around and made sure your parts were upgradeable to newer technology was coming out your computer lasts you far longer.
Granted for those that have to have the newest fastest parts right away and rebuild from scratch EVERY time they need to update to play a game PC gaming is expensive. For those that plan a head and resist the urge and realize that even if i have the newest and the best parts there aren't many games at that moment that take advantage of the newest and the best.
You can build a pc or upgrade parts of your pc to make it work with newer games for far less AND you get to keep your OLD games and get new ones for far cheaper if you budget yourself properly.
I understand your love for consoles. I personally love mine, but I see them more as my gaming outlet for when I just want to be left the hell alone or hang out with my friends. But I can't play my console games while I'm at work, I can play my PC games while at work and that makes me happy because that free hour I get (sometimes more if we're in the middle of downtime and I can't get my work off the network) is well spent enjoying some game time relaxing.
More and more games are becoming multi platform because it ensures game companies GET more revenue but the console MMO market is still shaky so if your hoping for console MMO's you'll just have to hold on a while longer probably not to much longer since WAR might and AOC is coming for consoles too.
I just can't see Game makers cutting off a HUGE market because a few people wanting save money and buy only consoles. It would make me incredibly sad if not pissed off if they did this since I just can't throw down that kind of money on a console someone else makes, atleast if i build my computer its going to work with no problems other than the ones I might introduce (or hackers who seriously suck)
Maybe we should just agree to disagree since neither of us are going to see eye to eye. Its really not Worth arguing over.

also, all the costs you mentioned also count for PC. so that really doesn't matter.
Its not even debatable. A game console is cheaper for gaming then a computer, when comparing the amount of power. MUCH and MUCH cheaper. its fact. You keep pretending like the add-ons for Xbox360 are so expensive, which is simply not the case, and your also pretending like they add-ons are an absolute MUST HAVE. when talking strictly about gaming, a console is much cheaper. Thats why there are gaming consoles in the first place, because its cheaper. Again, find me a PC that can run Oblivion just as well as my Xbox360 can for 400$ and we'll talk.
