Dangerous question to ask us atheists



Its not that i care about religion , but what the religion makes people do, i for one am a atheist , i believe in nothing, no satan / devil , no god / allah , or any of the sort.





F.x your daughter wants to go out with someone who isnt reading the same bible as you,  what do you do ? , you stone her to death along with several other 100 men.



That was a news thing from the real world and happened a couple of days ago in the northern part of Iraq.

As I understand it you cannot assume that nothing is real unless you experience the religions or whatever it is you do not believe in, for instance if you never believed in buddhism and never got into the practice or read one book on it then that makes you a fool im sorry, but it does. You need to experience and explore religions and beliefs before you assume nothing is real. It takes experience to judge anything in life including religions and beliefs.

I for one believe but I dont believe in a specific religion because all books and religions are written byhuman beings which is bound to be flawed maybe not all of them but most, but I think there are half truths in them if anything and if you put them together there all pretty similar some where stolen from others and etc.

 

You do not have to follow a religion to believe you can just know something is out there and something beyond your prespective of understanding and beyond the eyes of your own being is around and within you.

Look angel, watch the news everyday at 6pm or whenever its the news time where you live , just watch whats going on in the world, specially in the middle east.



Then perhaps someday when you have actually gotten the point of why they are fighting you'd understand, its not because they fight over land , or a cow or something , they fight because of a religion, afaik the bible doesnt say anything about butchering other people or committing genocide.

BroI totally agree with you I know exactly what your talking about and have known people fight in the name of religion all the time its dumb and I dont blame you for not believing in anything if you do not.

I was speaking of ahtiests in general. An ahtiest is someone who doesnt even consider the possibility that something divine or beyond them might be real and etc, that video was mainly talking about christianity and that is one of the most strict flawed religions out there, a variety of stuff in the bible was stolen from cletic religions and others.

A lot of people get nhilism and atheism confused. Atheists may not believe in god/God/G-D/gods, but most still have a belief in something whther that be themselves or something more existential.  Buddhists are atheist, except for maybe a few sects who treat buddha as a deity, to compensate for traditions. For me I'm an agnostic/pantheist. God is a very malliable word, and for rightnow the western religions have hijacked the concept. To me god is just a word meaning something greater then us whether it's concious or not.



A good example of my belief is how things are made up of something smaller and smaller. Cells are living things that think for themselves in a very primitive way, but we are made up of them that forms a collective concious. Except for them they do not think of their own exhist, they just exhist and perform their duties, as we do.  No one can prove if our exhistance is meaningless, it's only meaningless  if we havent done anything ever in our lives to survive.  Anyway blah blah blah. Dont make this a heated debate guys, it's just going to turn out like any other religious debate ona an internet forum. Have some humility, and if a christian bothers you with their wanting to "save" you just realise it's in good intentions and tell them your not interested. Fundamentalist atheists are the same as fundamentalist christians/jews/ or muslims. Wisdom is important, your not as logical as the discovery channel, or history channel tricks you into thinking. Just live your life. Atheists can be more self rightous then any other belief/religion. Atheism now these days seems to even be developing traditions, the sign of another religion. Not all atheists are logical.

Most are not as violent as people stereotype them to be. If they confront you dont make assumptions about their intentions, they are not trying to do it to make you feel bad, most just try to save you and if you tell them your not interested they say ok. It's a small group of people who are self rightous and violent, and those are usually fundamentalist sects.

god is not great how religion poisons everything. its a book i picked up its an interesting read for religious/noe religious people it explains how an atheist views religions and why he views them than way. well written not a rant but good interesting read.

always good to understand both sides of teh argument before jumping in

exactly. In these arguments nobody is essentially right or wrong. They should be used to gain more understanding about the other views from other people, not who is right or wrong. It never gets anywhere that way, atheists are adimant about being right and so is a person of any other belief. And, your not going to prove anything because there is not enough evidence on either side.

Religion, in my eyes, is the greatest of all evils. It holds mankind back and forces men to build walls to divide eachother. It causes people to form rash judgements upon others based on doctrine written and rewritten countless times over thousands of years. Worst of all, it gives political leaders justification to commit grievous acts.



There was a time when Religion was needed, it formed communitys, taught morales, it gave people hope, but what purpose could religion have in this modern day world?



The day we renounce religion, is the day mankind will truely excell.

Well rather you think someone is right or wrong there experience tells them its right or wrong, I for one believe because I actually explored things and discovered things opened myself to it and that makes it right because I experienced things that proved it to me. The same goes for everyone you have to explore and open yourself to it to discover the truths in things.

No im not saying that im saying that I know my own experiences and they are real so in that form they are right, they are not right for everyone else until they allow themselves to experience as well. But you cannot deny someones experiences thats what im basicly saying, but that does not mean someone has to believe in someone elses experiences.
