Yes, because WAR is going to be game of the year! Dream on my friend, WoW clones ftl. Seriously now though I have nothing against WAR and hey maybe you'll be right. Next year we shall see!

Your right, we will see in 2008. I do want to bring up a few things though. Especially the fact that most people that arent forum trolling all day have never even heard of Aion. I havent seen many video's of tha game, so there is one avenue of marketing they have neglected. The classes are pretty cookie cutter, from the descriptions anyways. Has this game even gone into beta yet? I havent seen any place to sign up.

On a good note though, free flight sounds like a REALLY cool concept. It looks REALLY nice too, from the screenshots Ive seen anyways.

So game of the year? I dont think so, sorry just my opinion. Either way though I will be trying it out to see how it goes.

Aion is getting ready to go into Beta in Korea atm. There are plenty of video's from E3 and such plus new ones that were posted on youtube of the emotes, environments, and combat system. There are also official sites for Korea and UK already. After Korea's beta will come US/UK beta.

WAR isn't a WoW clone actually. WoW is a D&D (board game) and WAR (board game) clone. WoW was not the first one to come up with Orcs people. K ranting done. Now far as WAR vs. Aion... idk... depends on if you like chocolate or vanilla ice cream. I'm rooting for aion as this is my game of choice.

Uninformed - not informed, lacking in knowledge or information.

    Wrong forum buddy.

Actually, then you can "feel better". This is intended to be a little different than other Korean games. In addition, I have to hand it to NC Soft, think of them what you will, but their games tend to have much more polish than other similiar games.

But in no way will this be a Korean grind game. Oh sure, there are most likely going to be mobs that you can kill over and over again if you choose or there will be quests (this seems to be the way that these games work) but from what I've read, it seems that this game will be for more casual players.

So, a world that changes with what the playerbase does (have no idea how this will pan out but that is their main claim) Combat in Flight, great art design, really horrible music (my opinion) but GREAT art design   ... I think they will have a winner.

I know for me, this is the only game that I am looking forward to.

I think if NCSoft makes their predicted Features come true, then this WILL one of teh next great MMORPGS.

But in many cases the final product is not as half so good as proclaimed.

On the other hand, NCSoft is a big and successful company which is not willing to kick themselves out of business by producing vaporware.

So lets stay cool and wait for AIOn as final product!

Let’s take a quick look at NCSoft and its immediate game history. If we take Guild Wars as an example, we will notice significant improvement with each released campaign. GW Prophecies was pretty well polished for a free-to-play game, and had pretty consistent material. Now obviously the storyline is linier and Aion is “sandbox”, but that is beside the point. The point being is that NCSoft took a game and polished it up to more than exceptional standards within a 2 year period with the release of GW Nightfall. Now, taking into consideration that GW is free-to-play. Imagine what they will be able to do with a subscription fee based game such as what Aion will be. I feel it’s safe to expect NCSoft to release Aion very well polished and will continue to polish it even more within a years time as they did with GW. So, even if Aion presents itself a bit quirky or graphically lax in a few areas in the beginning. I have no doubt that they will buff it up in no time.

Well I think you're right in saying that NCSoft will put out Aion well polished and in very fine shape, but this is a very bad comparison.

NCSoft did NOT develop Guild Wars, they just published it.  Big difference.

I think this game just might be  the game of 2008. NCsoft has never let me down.

I think the fact that NCSoft is developing this game is the main reason I am looking forward to it so much. With a big and successful company, I can almost count on them to deliver most of the stated features in a well-polished game at release. With so many new companies and small developing firms or what not breaking into the MMORPG scene, lots of games are promising a lot and then end up being released with half of the guaranteed features in a buggy alpha-build game (*cough* DnL *cough*).

Also this is the first Korean game (to my knowledge), that is really looking into marketing the game to the whole world, not just as an after thought. The game and updates will all come out at the same time (no waiting 6 months like L2) and they are trying to add more features that western MMORPGers like (WASD movement, good quests).

On top of that, the PvPvE seems interesting, finally a RvR that balances itself out (although I hear WAR also has some ideas on that subject). Not to mention combat while flying and hot graphics.

Past: AC, AC2, DAoC, SWG, HZ, EVE, Ryzom, WoW, L2
    Present: nothing
    Future: Aion, AoC, PotBS
