Is it just me, or are there no real good mmorpg games out there right now?

80% of the threads here are complaints about current mmo's or people looking for something new (which usualy dosn't exist).

I keep myselfe busy with oblivion atm and thats about it. Bought lotro and at level 6 it bored the shit out of me.

I think that number is wildly exaggerated.  I'd be surprised if its 10%.   I think you have to also bear in mind that this is the place people who can't find a game they like would be posting.  There are tons of games with active forums full of people who are enjoying whatever it is they play.  LOTRO is one of those good games.  The only good MMO to come out in at least the last year.  If you were bored with it after playing to level 6, which takes about an hour and can happen all in the stater instance area, then it's just possible the issue is your attention span, not the game itself.

I personally hate seeing people post how they are looking for something new, and all the MMOs they have ever played suck.... Maybe those people don't like RPGs as much as they believe they do.  I understand how the appeal of a persistent world and character c an appeal to someone, even if they don't really care for the gameplay style of a typical RPG.  Those people might be in luck, as makers of other genres like FPS and RTS games are starting to develop some other gameplay types in persistent worlds.  The appeal of a monthly fee will do a lot to motivate them, I guess.  That said, some of us DO like RPGs.  I don't consider it a negative for a game to be controlled like a standard RPG, or containing the classic archetypes.

I know I'll be glad when some other types of MMO come out, so all these malcontent, killer-ap hunters can find games they like without trying to change the kind of game I enjoy in to something it wasn't designed to be... ala SWG.

It's about 50/50 those who have 'just' come into the MMO world are  like what? on there 2nd or 3rd MMO right now everything's new and shiny where as vets are seeing re-hashments of some very old games.

Currently we are mainly playing the same game just in a different worlds, for some thats good it's frimillar ground, others it's same old, same old, theres little inervation out there atm sadly it's catering to the newcommers more then the vets.

Personally I'm currently looking at LoTRO it's a stunning game, however I look at it and think sometimes is the really much point of logging in? I've done 'the leveling' in god knows how many games, however luckly I've got a damn good guild to team with so that keeps me plodding along for the time being..

On the lighter side there are a lot of games out there that are trying to re-break that repatched 'mold' of MMOing, Spellborn, AoC, Gods and Heroes, GE, DDO with City and EvE continuing their invitive ways. It's more then likly most of the known 'big hitters' will keep to 'classic' MMOing, but lets hope one of these can make a more interesting 'mold' to go by.

    Bring on the WARRRRGGHH!

I dont think that the thing is that there are no good MMO's out. Its just there hasnt been anything "groundbreaking" developed in a long time. The only game I see that has broken out of the mold is EvE, and thats been out for 4 years. I think the MMO community is waiting for something "epic" to be developed.

Has nothing to do with my span, i just got the feeling that i have done it befor. Many of the upcoming games very much appeal to me, at least from what the developers promise...

When i read these forums i get the impression that there are many like me who are sick of stupid grinding, we need non static worlds and good pvp. Well like i said some upcoming games seem promising. Either that or im back to my good old FPS
