my son, probably the youngest playeer of wow

snipper231snipper231 Member Posts: 13

first of all,i dont want to talk about what should do or why we have to do for our

kids .kids are kids ,who need  imagination and freedom playing time after getting home.

my son is 8 years old, very cute and naughty and innocent.

it was june last year,a sunday, when i was killing my time in MC 's water.my sun turn

up to me,yelled:"which game? wow? you are playing game again.you bad baddy .stop to

download some songs for me . "this is the first time he met with wow .

about two weeks later, weekend.May son impored :"let me try it ok? daddy . i want to

kill these guys, could i kill these little men? " "no, you are a kid . you have something else to do . " i said. but he supplicated again and again.at least i agreed.

the wow's career of my son began.he is too young to type words.fotunately he is

clear enough just like his daddy ,that he did a great job in less than 2 mins.

Realized he could take care himself with my hunter. i left him and went along with

my wife.

but just 3 mins later,a yell came out:" daddy , daddy , check it quickly ,he cannt

move with a little red bar on him . "

i found he just killed by bruning stepps 40levels fire elements.

" oh damn , you little idoit . "

he was scared by my words, looked at me with a shamed face.well, let's release the

spirt and get to the corpse. he stared at the whole course ,and soliloquized :"oh ,

i know it . "

With your spelling and grammer, I do really ponder that you are the 8 year old son you are reflecting on.

On top of that, your logic is fragmented and you never really came to a point.

Somehow I feel all of us are somewhat more stupid after reading this post.

BTW, I truly feel sorry if your 8 year old is unable to type at the keyboard. My son is now 18, but when he was 6 years old he not only was playing Doom, he knew how to login to DWANGO and setup a session and also launch a game round and even chat in the game.

All I can say is WOW. If the stuff here you say is true, I wonder who is less educated, you or your son!

it would seem that someone with a limited or non-native English speaker remember how his son found his way in to this our fine hobby. And how his son event whit limited communication channels managed to get on fairly well until he ran in to a fire elemental. At this point the proud father jokingly told his son he was a fool for trying to do that and then explained how to rez...

    Clear enough...?

No point just a simple observation... this is after all the "general discussion" area...

This have been a good conversation

Aye true, my son is 8 and has had a character slot on most of the MMO's I have played, he can type just fine, in fact when he tells people in-game how old he is they generally don't believe him. In fact upon further reflection he can generally communicate better than most of the teens playing and doesn't resort to 'text messaging' type shortcuts.

Then again he is 2 years ahead of all his classmates in english and math.

Yup I'm a proud, boastful Dad. Sue me :)

Tamalan you have a right to be proud

But personally I wouldnt let my 8 year old , if I had one, play mmo's. Have to say that im of the old sort and I still think that kids should play with their friends in the real world. In order to develop proper motor skills, social skills etc.

Lol, concern noted, but he has many real world friends and plays in goal for a local kids football team (thats soccer to most of you unruly ex-colonials). His mother is a very much an 'outdoors' type, im a huge computer geek so he gets exposed to a good balance of activities.

    Dear Sir,

You attempted to make a post!  Congratulations on the semi-success of this endevour.  However, we here at The Internet regret to inform you that there have been complications within your post.  Here are a few examples:

    • Incorrect use of punctuation

    • Incorrect spelling
    • Ridiculous use of paragraphs
In light of these errors we here at The Internet suggest that you never attempt to teach your son anything.  Allowing your (probably fat) son to play video games along side his (probably fat) father is unhealthy.  We suggest you use your best reasoning skills and go outside.  Your son's heart will thank you.  Perhaps you could also take him to a bookstore.  There are many interesting and enlightening materials that don't have hit points or mana!  Allowing your son to acquire knowledge is not only beneficial to his mental growth, but to your well-being in the long run.  Think about it, in time he will be taking care of you.

    Love,

    The Internet

P.S.  Your opening statement about 'imagination and freedom' was completely nullified when you called your eight year old son an idiot.  I'm pretty sure any positive imagination your son was attempting to create while grinding fire elementals was completely obliterated when you started calling him names.  You sound more like a bully than a father.
  • retrospecticretrospectic Member UncommonPosts: 1,466
Also, your son was merely ignorant of the game's mechanics.  Instead of allowing your son to play your level 40 hunter you could have allowed him to create a character from scratch.  Your son can probably read the instructions, and the game's tutorial levels (1-6) are suprising straight forward.  An eight year old is surprisingly adept if you allow him to be.  Perhaps calling him names on a regular basis has stunted his mental growth.

    • Horribly inaccurate use of thesaurus to feign intelligence
  • retrospecticretrospectic Member UncommonPosts: 1,466
I must admit that I am almost 100% sure this is a troll.  The use of language and punctuation seems to be an attempt at feigning adult knowledge.  More than likely this post was authored by someone between the ages of 12 - 15.  The incorrect use of the thesaurus and nonsense punctuation lead me to believe that this is an attempt to sound "old".  What the OP is more than likely trying to do is create a "Wouldn't it be funny if..." situation.  Meaning, he is trying to say, "Wouldn't it be funny if someone let their eight year old son play a level 40 Hunter. lol dude bbq."

So, 4/10 for failing to ask your older brother to proofread.

I wouldn't have posted at all if he hadn't blatantly verbally abused his own son.  Regardless of the grammatical errors within the post, he called his own son an idiot for dying in a game he had never played previously.  I find it completely ridiculous that no one else found this completely offensive and cruel.  I would have continued, but I realized it was a troll and ended it.
  • First Mr. snipper231 make a statement about his son there is playing about World of Warcraft

Then Mr. Tamalan start talking about his 8 year son playing world of warcraft

    This topic is fullball, yuck

I know a 6 year old who has a level 12 Undead Warrior. All his own work.

NOTE: This is not a dis to WoW. This is a sign that Blizzard has created a very easy to access game. Quite an accomplishment. Blizzard has always been good at taking game genres and dumbing them down so that they are accesable to a more common denominator of society. After all Diablo as a cookie where Final Fantasy and Ultima were full on meals. Starcraft and Warcraft were cookies where Total Annihilation, Civilization, and Masters of Orion were full on meals, and WoW is a cookie to. They make colourful, fun, exciting, versions of more complex games (which appeal to only a small percentage of gamers). I can't wait to see their version of the survival horror game... (hell gate london? - By Flagship Studios which is largely made up of old Blizzard North developers).

Please direct me to any part of my post where i said my son plays World of Warcraft.

And I posted to support the fact that an intelligent, well educated 8 year old can indeed communicate well via a keyboard.

Hell, I love my son, why would I want to inflict World of Warcraft upon him?

If you have a genuine interest, his current MMO of choice is City of Heroes, which i support because of the friendly, helpful and overall polite and respectful community.

Letting him play WoW would set back his language and social skills several years, posibly beyond repair :P

Actually, if english is not the poster's first language then it is more than likely he used a word that was meant to be something else. Could have meant little fool, or silly or something else.

Remember "idiot" does mean foolish as well. I think one can look at one's kids and realize that they do foolish things, even in a  fond way.

I have a hard time thinking that the words used by the OP are "bad translation."  Usually poor translations do not include 6th grade vocab words.  Plus, calling your son a fool isn't in the right context when you let him run your level 40 toon.  Bad parenting regardless of language of origin.

"less educated" is considered a personal insult.  The correct term is "computer literate".
