For those who responded negatively to the poster's bad use of grammar : Shut up!
Anyways.. World of Warcraft is a game rated T for Teen (13 years and older) so I don't quite understand why he's playing that game. There's a reason why it's rated like that. Kids under 13 years old might not understand what is fun behind a game based on hours and hours of repetitive killing. You should maybe consider letting him play games for his age, like I dunno, most games on the Nintendo systems. MMOs are not for kids because they take far too much time to get into for nothing, and kids need this precious time to learn (I'm not talking about studying, I'm talking about discovering things, playing games for their age, playing outside with their friends, etc). And anyways, if you let him play WoW, he's gonna get bashed on by most players that will think he is a n00b, and he might just come to you with questions like "hey, someone said something in game that I don't understand, what does f*ck off d*ckwad and f*cking n00b mean?"
Let's not deny it. Alot of people, mostly teenagers, are always complaining in those games. Unless you want your kid to become an angry sucker like them, you should maybe reconsider letting him play this game. Or any other MMO for that matter.
My four year was recently introduced to LOTRO. He would play all day if I would let him. I do however limit him to no more than 30 minutes on LOTRO on the ocassions that I let him get on at all. Of course, he cannot type nor does he have a true interest other than he knows he is doing what his dad likes to do best. He has so far figured out how to move around and do some basic fighting with his Guardian. He does love to look at the map to figure which way he is going as he picks a destination to explore. I stand by him to make sure he does not get mauled by the wandering creatures of Middle-Earth. I think I have grown a monster though. The childrens educational games are too simple for him and he gets bored of them rather quickly. Maybe I should groom him to play professionaly?? (nah, I'll hold out for Doctor)
He's the second of the youngins in my household who enjoy the gaming. My 14 year old daughter is also an avid fan of WoW among others. She is the one that convinced our oldest (19 years) to get into Guild Wars. A feat that I was unsuccessful at myself. I never thought I would ever see the oldest one get on a computer for anything other than downloading music or vid clips. Now to work on the 3 year old...parenting is hard work.
I honestly have no problem with kids playing computer games, my cousins play Elder Scrolls: Oblivion and they're pretty young themselves, I think if parents are so worried about them getting no education or being dumb of these games they should encourage them to play the more complicated games that are coming out, I personally think game like Myst Online would be a great thing to play for kids since it wouldn't be them just sitting and grinding all day for a level, it would be puzzle solving instead. I remember when Zelda Ocarina of Time first came out, EVERYONE was playing that, it was a mix of hack and slash and simple puzzle solving but the thing was it made you think, it wasn't just some boring level grind like most MMORPG's and even some RPG's are turning into now.
Quoting people doesn't make you clever, in fact, it makes you all the more stupid for not bothering to read the quotes you post in the first place.
With your spelling and grammer, I do really ponder that you are the 8 year old son you are reflecting on. On top of that, your logic is fragmented and you never really came to a point. Somehow I feel all of us are somewhat more stupid after reading this post. BTW, I truly feel sorry if your 8 year old is unable to type at the keyboard. My son is now 18, but when he was 6 years old he not only was playing Doom, he knew how to login to DWANGO and setup a session and also launch a game round and even chat in the game. All I can say is WOW. If the stuff here you say is true, I wonder who is less educated, you or your son!
Very funny.
I played with some kids under 12 on WoW and am not suprised that an 8 year old would be able to play. Hell I was playing video games when I was 4.
Easy to play, hard to master. Not suprised at all.
It is amazing how many little kids play this game.
I prefer a more mature and sophisticated game that attracts like-minded gamers. My sense, when I resubscribed to WoW, is that it is a sort-of baby-sister for many children. It does something to the community, and it was the community why I decided to leave WoW. I actually just canceled (for the second time) last night.
I am sure people love the community in WoW, but it is just not for ME. I need something more advance, sophisticated, different graphics.
Rather this with the "profanity" ticked of course, otherwise it's just bad parenting
Than GTA at the age of 8, which is really bad parenting; unless you're american in which case. I doubt they could do anything more. They created the most screwed up society in the world based on how they bring up their kids. The UK coming a close 2nd; ASBOs anyone?
The internet, underage drinking, underage sex... well they will teach their kids and so on.. and so on.. it's like we hit the auto destruct on humanity years ago.. and we'll see the fruits of our own idioticy in about 80 years.
You know, that is funny! I remember when I was playing Vanguard and complaining about its early release and the bugs (since fixed) and people would shout, "GO BACK TO WOW!"
I actually went back to WoW; I even bought the expansion! However, after killing boars at level 10, then level 20, then level 30 and so forth I nearly went brain dead. I then had to kill more boars to cook!
Since I have returned to Vanguard (really, on a whim) the community has been blessed. No immaturity, no angst or hatred in the channel. I remember when I asked in WoW if there was a bag vendor in the chat, and some one responded, "NO! Now go away!" It was a level 70 Hunter.
WoW is a game in which no thinking or challenge is required to become "loot." I cannot play that.
I am sure people love the community in WoW, but it is just not for ME. I need something more advance, sophisticated, different graphics.
Haha! I'm not laughing at you, but at your comment . Sure there are a lot of great people who play WoW, but it's community sucks. Even though there are a lot of older, more mature people who play it, because of the many...many immature kids who play it hurts the community.
Now I'm not discriminating against them because they are younger, some kids 12 years old are very mature, while some 20 or 30 year olds seem like they are the kids (to prove my point look at the poster of this thread...he's aparently a father?). The fact is though, generally it's the younger players who tend to be the more immature ones, and the ones that swear when it isnt necessary, and are just plain rude. When a mature player is faced with a group of these immature players, it rubs off on them. So now that mature player is in a bad mood, or whatever, and they resort to the same behaviour. Since it's a VERY large chunk of players that are like this, that makes the rest of the community kind of act the same way, which obviously isnt good.
I'll admit this has happened to me, the attitude of the community overall will usually effect the individual players. Go play a different game with a lot of the same people, and if the attitude of the community of the game is a more helpful, 'nice' attitude, you'll see the players that seemed rude in the other game, seem friendly and polite in this one.
So yeah...Even though there are a lot of great people in WoW, the overall community is very rude, with excessive swearing. WoW is imfamous for having this type of community. =(
Imagine if you were forced to group with these people to level-grind? I do not think WOW would be able to retain its subscribers!
Nevertheless, the people shouting in Vanguard (at release) to "GO BACK TO WOW!" have since themselves returned to WoW. I think this is perhaps why I find the Vanguard community so endearing. However, that is just ME!
Anyone else start thinking about some little kid sitting at a computer farming for gold while the grown up stands behind him yelling, "idiot you died! Rez and get back to work now!"
first of all,i dont want to talk about what should do or why we have to do for our
kids .kids are kids ,who need imagination and freedom playing time after getting home.
my son is 8 years old, very cute and naughty and innocent.
it was june last year,a sunday, when i was killing my time in MC 's water.my sun turn
up to me,yelled:"which game? wow? you are playing game again.you bad baddy .stop to
download some songs for me . "this is the first time he met with wow . about two weeks later, weekend.May son impored :"let me try it ok? daddy . i want to
kill these guys, could i kill these little men? " "no, you are a kid . you have something else to do . " i said. but he supplicated again and again.at least i agreed. the wow's career of my son began.he is too young to type words.fotunately he is
clear enough just like his daddy ,that he did a great job in less than 2 mins.
Realized he could take care himself with my hunter. i left him and went along with
my wife. but just 3 mins later,a yell came out:" daddy , daddy , check it quickly ,he cannt
move with a little red bar on him . " i found he just killed by bruning stepps 40levels fire elements.
" oh damn , you little idoit . "
he was scared by my words, looked at me with a shamed face.well, let's release the
spirt and get to the corpse. he stared at the whole course ,and soliloquized :"oh ,
Why would you call your 8 year old son an idiot in the first place? You do not discourage kids that way they take it seriously and its a form of mental abuse, and on top of that its your own damn fault for not teaching him in the first place and leaving him there to get your character killed, why dont you grow up.
And Precutwrists I completely agree with your comment...Hunter, psh ^_^.
But yeah, OP is an idiot/moron/should-have-son-taken-away and ontop of that he has horrible spelling and grammar. I sure hope his kid turns out ok, but too bad it doesn't look good when he has someone like this guy as his father, putting him down, when he's the 'idiot'.
P.S. I love all the emoticons, I havent really posted too often on these forums. I read them all the time, but I just dont post often. Mainly because even if I do I wont see the responses to my post, which kinda makes my post pointless then (in many cases)
The point of the P.S. though, what is this suposed to represent?
English is also a second language to me, so I can relate to what he said. I don't quite understand WHY you people couldn't see that, or WHY you started bashing on him for that, but you should start reading what people have to say, and not HOW they say it.

The guy's from Alabama. What about that state makes him want to live there, the universal feeling of acceptance of people from any race or language? And his name is listed as "John Black." If I were you, I wouldn't defend someone that has already been proven a troll.

Dear Mr. Tamalan
Its seem that I made a mistake in my judgement and made a too quick a decision. Therefore I wanna say sorry

First of all , English is not my mother language .
someone had figured it out .
Second, it was translated from anther language .i feel regret at having your eyes suffered
by my poor spelling and grammar .
Third,I did want to talk about the kids players in WOW .
im fond of them as well .
about the " idoit " , it's my fault. i apologize for it . It supposed to be a long conversation, but
i failed to translate it with proper words.
Sorry guys.
