this game kicks ass once you get down the basics
ignore the naysayers who say "vanilla mmog!!!"
just try out the trial or try to get a buddy key though, so you can save some cash in case you don't like it

When I first played this during the beta, my taste with it grew extremely thin through the levels 1-5. Infact, it grew so boring to me I decided to un-install it, thinking I wasted my time. The next 2 days I find out a couple of my friends are installing it,...So I was like WTH, I'll try it again with them....
WoW!!! I am so glad I did,...As soon as I got deeper into the game I could not leave my chair! The game became so much more unique just by bumping up a few levels, exploring farther than just your starting location, and most of all, spending time with friends online. It made the game so much better, and I'm so glad I made the move to try it once more
I also find the people who dislike this game are usually ex-WoW players or even current WoW players that just can't take the heat from a new MMO.... Pretty pathetic I think.(Don't get me wrong, I know there are some experienced MMORPG players out there that just don't find the game fun, but I find a lot of WoW fan-boys out there...)
I realize some people like this game, but there is really no sense in disregarding or outright scoffing the views of those who do not, especially in light of your nearly non-existent arguments for why you feel the way you do. Its basically the same as someone saying "this game sucks, don't believe anyone who says its good". I mean, just who are you trying to convince?

i also played beta and de install de game in 20 mins, it was really crap and boring for me ...
did it changed a lot?
i am surprised with the ppl saying this game rocks, is only a lvl and lvl game right now
the graphics are lovley and i'm a lotr freak so i'm loving all the lore.. i was so astounded there are all 3 hobbits races to play ! attention to detail ftw!
this game has come along way since beta, and has the potential to be a stayer in the market just like wow it will just depend on what the developers do with teh game from here on in that will make or break it.
so far loving it and the community, so much nicer than the wow community! i'll be buying the full version this weekend

Which Final Fantasy Character Are You?
Final Fantasy 7
I have to agree with what a lot of you are saying, I've been a WoW player since it was launched and have dipped into and out of most other mmo's since then and this is one I at this stage believe I will stick with. I also think that this game will not be for everyone but isn't that the same as everything in life, some people like certain things that others do not. The game is phenomonal and the amount of lore and history with it is amazing - as it should be. I do think there are a few issues with it that need to be addressed and hopefully turbine will sort them, but people who are having nothing to do with it based on these problems should re-think.... these are teething problems and with any new game problems will arise. Using WoW as an example, how many times have the classes been re-balanced, new ideas implemented or old ideas changed. Games can and often do become better with age as their problems are ironed out.
I for one will be staying on for the ride.
Take home message: "Heroic/Elite/Veteran" Mobs are a LOT harder than normal mobs in this game, they have deadly skills are mostly everywhere once you get into a "elite"-mob-area and respawn within very few minutes.

Yes, I'm thinking thats a little harsh. Not every game can be as fun and well polished as LotRO. I'm sure given the choice some people would rather have the Kia than the BMW. No reason to put down other games just because you can't seem to find their redeeming values. Regardless, welcome to Middle Earth Stan. I'm sure your stay will be an enjoyable and long lived one.
Back on post topic. I was initially impressed with the graphics of LotRO more than anything. Saw some screen shots/videos and decided to jump into the pre-order beta. I found the beauty of the game a constant amazement. I spent a fairly substantial amount of time exploring the world before I actually focussed on questing and crafting. I truly enjoy this game, I actually read the quests. I realize not everyone will enjoy it as much as Stan and I, I'm just really happy to finally trade in that Kia for a Beemer.

I have been playing for one week now and i see in LOTR some of the things i hate in WoW
- never ending trips from one place to another
- too many children (i dont want to bother anybody, please im really sorry if i do so, bot im an old RP gamer and i like mature comunities, i hate when people just lose their mind and basic education rules just because they like one drop)
having said that i really like the game, its fun and a nice simple complement for EQ2 (wich is my hardcore game) but i hope the traveling issue is just @ low lvl, or im afraid i will quit as i did with wow.
Last week a co-worker picked it up and asked if I wanted the buddy key, him knowing that I at least try every MMO I can get my hands on. I told him right out that I had tried it already and really didnt like it, but I would try again, but that he was probably better off giving the key to someone else that is at least somewhat interested.
Well, I ended up with it anyways, put it on the PC last weekend and have been playing nightly since installing. I am only level 12, but each night I play my enjoyment grows, as does my anticipation for playing more the following evening.
I guess you can say I was a convert as well, I will definitely be picking up a retail copy this weekend before my key expires. At this point I cannot say how long I will be playing, I do have to say I dont have that feeling of "wow, this is perfect and I will play for months and months", but so far, so good, its still growing on me.

I didnt like it in beta either..i thought it was dull and bland. Then one day i decided to give it another go and went out and bought it(made a topic on here the same day if i remember right...).It was either that or re-sub to WoW.
Now im really enjoying it. Certainly one of the more enjoyable MMOs ive played in the last year. looking forward to the new content and when monster play kicks off,and hoping that crafting has some serious improvements..
Im upgrading to an extra 2 gig RAM and a 7900GS or similar to finally be able to play it as it should be played.

Edit: And they call me a troll... Well if I was not so wrapped up in LoTRO I would have taken Blizzard up on the ten day free trial offer they sent me yesterday in a email.
I am almost mad at Turbine for putting so much content in and making the game too addicting because I have not played any other game in months now. I am hoping my addiction slacks off a bit before Bioshock and AoC release. By the way can't cancel I did the life time sub so that if I ever do get bored of it I can take a breather. So far though I have played an average of 4 hours a day since October and still lovin it.

You like LOTRO.
Thanks for clearing up my confusion. However, since I have such a bad memory, could you make sure to post just how much you like LOTRO in every thread in this forum? Thanks again, I appreciate it.
Edit: Oh, and also, make sure you slip in a put down to WoW at the same time as well.

Edit: Oh, and also, make sure you slip in a put down to WoW at the same time as well. Find one post where I ever put down WoW, I have a copy and played it for the free thirty. In fact I played both it and EQII at release and decided I liked EQII better so that was my game until LoTRO came along. I was never crazy about the lore of the Warcraft games, and I liked EQII's barbie doll look better but that was simply a subjective opinion on my part. I did enjoy the overall design of WoW and I loved the plentiful content just as I love the fact that LoTRO is loaded with content. I do think that LoTRO is more complex than WoW gameplay wise, but if/when I need a break from LoTRO I may go back and give it another shot.
Only 3 games I have ever slammed hard on here was Vanguard, Dark and Light and Mourning.

I bought it.
I was a skeptic, now a detractor
I got in a fellowship with a certain StanliManli yesterday. He wouldn't admit it to me but I'm sure it was you. It's ok, I understand, perhaps better to ease into this change of heart.
That "Retake Weathertop" quest was awsome wasn't it? Man, I thought we were all history when we were surrounded and the minstrels power was way too low. Good job tanking I might add, if you hadn't pulled aggro on that last group I know a couple of us would have lost it. Anywho, just wanted to touch bases with ya. Cya out there tonight....I think we should do "Retake Weathertop" again, I got hardly any uber loot....you were kill'n me with those lucky loot rolls. You are the man, Stan.
