One thing to keep in mind regarding any trial.... many of the characters reallly don't begin to shine until about level 16 or so....  so if someone just gave it a try until level 10 they really didn't get the full experience, they were strictly hunting in the lowbie lands.

Once you get into the 20's and you're out there hunting in North Downs, Lonelands or even the Barrrows.... and using some of the great skills your class has combined with the deed traits (that you've taken the time to farm up, right?) the game really begins to shine.

I'm currently level 27 on my Guardian, and have taken a week off from leveling to farm up all the deed traits I can find from the 3 starting areas. I've completed all the Breeland/Erin Lund ones and am currently finishing up in the Shire.  The net of this is that some of the traits I can slot are +6... (most are 3 or 4)  and they really help my character in terms of performance.

The game seems to get better and better....though now I'm finding many of the quests are now focused on elite mobs which require some grouping.... we'll see how it goes in terms of find people to help complete them in the next few weekis....
