Hi, I have been thinking about buying coh, but i'm worried that the average age of player's playing that game is very low.How do you people think this game is for a litle older people like 30+ ?
If your a casual gamer or someone that lives at the computer, it doesn't matter what age you are. Reports from across the server's indicate a level headed community without the tides of immaturity that tend to follow PvP. Once the PvP expansion is released however, things may change.

"When you find yourself sinking into Madness, dive"
Just last night in a pickup group age came up, turns out the youngest person was 26, everyone else was in thier 30's.
Age of course doesn't matter as much as maturity but it was kinda cool being in a group full of old guys, not normally the case.
The community in CoH is top notch, everyone I've meet in game has been a pleasure to play with and again that's not always the case with online games.
--------------------------------- "To announce that there must be no criticism of the president, or that we are to stand by the president, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American people."-Teddy Roosevelt
There are things I would fault about the game but definitely not the community. So far I have met many great individuals and only 1 or 2 that were difficult to get along with.
I agree with Malk that the lack of pvp usually draws a more mature crowd.
I'm in the 30+ crowd myself. I'm planning on buying COH tomorrow. I did Beta it for 4 days, and had a lot of fun. I ran into the full spectrum of ages when playing, but I've ran into the full spectrum in every MMORPG I've played. Can't say I can always tell how old someone is when I hang out in-game with them, I just stay away from those with immature names or annoying actions (like spamming chat!!)
Also, I've heard it said that Virtue is the unofficial Role-Playing server, so chances are that's where more adults will be. I have no facts to back that up though.
Its a solid game, the most fun PvE I've ever had. I just wish it didn't get so repetetive and vanilla after a while. I know the PvP = immature brats, but I also think that it will make COH's replay value go straight up. Also I can't think of a better way to PvP then Super Heroes vs Super Villians. The idiotic behaviour will make it all the more entertaining.

I only found the opposite to be true. Why be polite to someone if they can't retaliate against you in any way.
Non-PvP games I've been KSed, Trained and talked poorly to more time than I can count.
Sure you get the jerk in a PvP game, but you get those anywhere. Sure you might PKed once in awhile, but over all the community is far more respectfully.
Why is CoH better? Your playing it so close to the start. 50 bucks isn't something people are going to drop unless they know it's a game they want to play. If you been waiting to play this game, your going to be a "better" player than those that going to buy this game out of the discount rack in 6 months.
Secondly, everyone is a newbe. Once people get high level the ego's will flare, the smack talk will start, and the "community" will degrade.
Thrid, CoH is about comic book heroes (make it yourself ones), as you can tell by reading most posts. Reading is a bit of a turn-off to todays youth. I'm sure few of them even know what comic books are. I think CoH may appeal to a older age group than something will up-shirt teen-age female elves.

Who are you talking about? Also a very poor insult!
As for PvP I agree it brings out the worst in people (although I still won't play a MMORPG without it). Lineage 2 is a good example of this. If someones rude to you kill them you say? With Lineage 2's red system thats like marinating your self in blood for a week and then going swimming with sharks. If you PK and turn red then you are sausage meat to the hordes of blood thirst player itching for a PK without any penalty. Also with PvP you tend to get the "I'm stronger than you so I'll insult you and grief you in general until you get fed up and attack me. I will thin kill you and send you tells about how week and pathetic you are." attitude.
I think Linage 2 is a worst case scenario. I stands out as one of the worst communities I have every experienced. I have played other PvP games that have a much more pleasant clientele.

Ahah! I've found the solution to the flood of youngsters in our games:
Let's implement a "hardcore" system with permadeath and global pvp!
In fact, let's add a script where any profanity will be caught by the guards and excessive use will lead to every guard in every town aggroing you.
Let's also add a strategic element to the game: Players must solve complex puzzles that require deeper calculations than chess and hex combined. (for missions and such)
Roleplaying is enforced: Your dialogue cannot contain any references to objects that do not exist in the game-universe, nor can it derive anything new in the game-universe without providing an extensive proof with the given axioms of the game-universe.
Hmm... yeah that should do it..... whip up some nice 3d graphics in with the lot, d2 style skill trees and classes, and 24/7 gms that can only take orders (not give them!)
Team pvp: Any player can create a guild and can belong to any number of guilds. Guild conflict is determined by the values in a 2d matrix which are determined by the guild members upon creating the guild (logically if guild is conflicting, player must choose)
Propriety: Any OOC insults will result in permaban
I'm guessing that I won't see anything like this while I am still alive .

This is a sequence of characters intended to produce some profound mental effect, but it has failed.
That's it. You've all finally broken me, dammit. I am getting CoH today. I can't believe I am giving up my sexy Dark Elf for a silly, slightly overweight, buffoon in purple tights.
The thing that really changed my mind, besides all of the generally good reviews, is that CoH is a game that can be played for just an hour or so at a time, without the grind or feeling that you must keep advancing to not fall too far behind your friends (which is what has already happened to me in Lineage II).
I am definitely not a hardcore player that will sit for hours in front of the PC, so maybe CoH is a game I will enojoy, even though I am not a big Super Hero fan . . .
People say character customization if fantastic . . . . Can I make a Dark Elf Super Hero with big . . .

all the female toons have big neverminds, narrow waists and nicely rounded hips. Pointed ears are possible, and skin color can be almost anything imaginable.
and the REALLY good news is, you can put her in a bikini if you want. Personally i put my characters in clothes, leather on one and a tight/leotard look on the other female but its all good.

game is very stable and runs very smoothly on min specs.I tried it like this have a athlon 2400+ 1gb radeon 9800pro machine .Yanked out the card and kept the old Ti4200.Zero lag(drag) even in a full sewer group. or peak town center crowd.Next machine was my athlon 1600 + 756ram ti4600.Yanked out the card and kept the old od geforce2ti.Again zero lag but minor slowdown in crowded town center.
Considering the level of graphics this is a huge thumbs up for programming and shows good graphics can run on a low spec card if programmed right.
No major bugs at all.
Interface is so easy i grasped it in under 10 mins in beta.
Movement is quite fluid but does involve a combo of mouse/keyboard but dead easy.
Gameplay is very fresh.
Community is very mature.Seems to me it attracted mostly adults .Maybe to do with it been based on old fashion superheroes.
People are happy to group and out of every 10 people you met only 1 or 2 ever want to solo.
Quest so far are not very detailed but hey its a new game.
PvP is going to be implemented and they will start with arenas first and test pvp strenghts for different class combo.
However be warned those seeking old UO style pvp. There is no loot at all .So even when pvp goes live if you are into it to take loot from others look somewhere else. There is plans for supervillians so I am thinking they would go DAoC style of pvp where you lose nothing but your pride(can't see it going any other way at that).
Overall I would say best game I seen since DAoC and certain to hold my intrest till EQ2 goes live.

The missions are nice, but they need more variety. So far to level 16 all missions consist of either a warehouse, a underground green sewer type system, and a cavish area.

I just got this game a few days ago...so it's still fun to me, I'm sure in a couple months it will become boring. However the one thing that I really enjoy about this game is that the main focus is your own character. There is no hunting and trying to get that uber item. No special clothes or houses either. So all ya hafta do is make your toon and work on the skills and you can have fun doin that.
Also so far on any server I've tried the community is very friendly and mature. But as stated that could change upon pvp.
