Shayde - SWG (dead)
Proud member of the Cabal.
It sounds great, so great in fact, I pitty those who canceled - Some deluded SWG fanboi who pities me.
I don't like it when you say things. - A Vanguard fan who does too.

All those jagged edges are still there, then. Ugh. Sorry, but it's just not a modern game at all. Welcome back to 2001. Without some form of antialiasing that works, this thing is always going to look dated and unprofessional.
Bite me, Turbine.
The sky looks decent, as do the ships and buildings in the background, but the ground, road, and water are all laughable. All the bump mapping, jagged edges and lack of real definition between them detracts from the overall picture.
There's real promise in Vanguard, but things like this take away from the overall environment. They make it all look inorganic and mechanical, and detract from immersion, since it feels like the world isn't real, but rather tacked on over a bunch of overly bumpy textures. Hopefully SOE will slap a new coat of paint on the game, and refine the art to make it more organic instead.
I'd laugh, if I didn't know how lame your jokes usually are...
I'll start my own SWG... with Black Jack... and Hookers!!!
In fact, forget the SWG!!!!
It's not just the jagged edges, though, even if they are problematic. The way the ground, road, and water play into each other feels awkward. I noticed the same things when I played the game, and it's shown here. They don't blend together in any sort of organic way in that photo. The road looks indistinguishable, like someone just painted a part of the ground a different color. And between the ground and the water, there doesn't appear to be any natural shoreline, or natural overlap.
That's what I see, anyhow. While the larger environment looks decent, with the sky, the ships, and the buildings, it's the foundation of that environment-- i.e., the ground, the road, and the water-- that falls apart, and which heavily detracts from the overall picture.
Theres little in the way of content and the races + classes are all bland and boring tooo........ Ic an't really say anything good about it apart from:
Has potential but will SOE spend enough cash on it?
Here's one for you all to check out. Not much but it is with EVERYTHING maxed out even the res up to 2048x1536.
It is a pic of my Bloodmage that just came out of the mines, gnome cave newbie area or whatever. Sorry, sort of new to VG. Well I played pre-order and started first month and got 5 chars to lvl 5-10. Just came back this weekend and having fun.
Anyway, my BM only has some plain standard stuff. Just did this to show there is no jaggies. I took the screen. as a prt screen and then saved it using Adobe photo shop. Then uploaded it to my profile at Cox so no one compresses anything.

I will post one of my Ranger next. Just waiting for it to be day time since at night and it is raining it is hard to see the envirnoment details. Typical of rain you know, with the fog in the air and such.
Just quit while you are still ahead for God's Sake...............
Got a better screen?
Of course not, then you wouldn't be trolling.
Nice screens btw. I really enjoyed them. Find Telon to be the prettiest virtual world I've ever played in.
Wish Darkfall would release.
Here is the one on my ranger.

Yes, I agree. I don't know how anyone can see them as bland. However I suppose they just think earth tone colors are boring and bland. and they need Bright over exaggerated colors like cartoons are to take them out of thier boredom.
Wow, it is amazing how natural colors depress some people and that they need bright colors to cheer them up. Hmm I think a Psychologist would be able to explain the reasons behind their problems. I am sure it is way beyond computer games.

Umm i dont think you have actually played the game. The character customisation is awesome and very indepth, what cant u do?
Name an mmo with more character customisations.
You can even do nose width, nose tip width, eye size, color, shape, lips size, thickness, happyness etc, Height, head size, leg thickness, leg length, foot size, hand size, shoulder width, chest size, Not to mention all the different ingame armor, capes & weapons you can show off. even horses can have different barding etc. Should i go on?
Also best thing is when you log in you can adjust anything so if you are sick of your characters hair or facial hair you can change it.
I also rate the graphics and animations are cool. I think you are posting in the wrong game?

Yes, I agree to that completey. It goes to show you how lax that Sigil was while doing a lot of their work. Obviously there was no heart put into it. I think the stuff ehre what you are pointing out are perfect examples of evidence that Sigil rushed things due to deadlines and lack of employees doing their job.
One thing I got out of that Brad disappeared is...Think about this...If they all knew he was gone, then what stopped them from slacking off since they knew the boss was not in the house? In the end I think the ones that got moved to SOE were the ones doing their job and the ones let go to the road where the ones that were the gossipers and the ones that didn't bother doing their work as we see missing in some of these screenies.
However, to me it looks like one of my maps I make with NwN2. It needs the final detail touch ups that were neglected at Sigil. That is something SOE can do. However they will need a small team that will go through the whole landscape and do all this.
To me, that was one of the biggest problems to the game that made me decide to not resubscribe after my free month. Other than that it was the long process of the crafting, the existance of the mini-game of Diplomancy which I think is a complete joke and should be removed and change the whole concept of what diplomacy is. I don't know too much about the content as I got 5 chars to lvl 5-10 and don't know of higher levels yet. But to me why anyone would race through a just released game to look for this, is beyond logic. Makes you think they race up just to see if they can find anything bad. I figure it would be wise to take it at a pace so when I get up there, there will be content. all MMOS cater towards low level at release and add for mid and high levels as the masses get there. They did this is AC, DAoC EQ and other games as well, why would anyone think it would change?
As for character creation, animations and other things. I won't even go there. Seems some people dig very hard to find a needle and then claim it is a WMD. I think some poeple need to go back to their other favorite game and stop trying to make themselves seem like a old hage griping about every little thing in life just to gripe.
I'd laugh, if I didn't know how lame your jokes usually are...
OMG ... reported!!
Nice shots there Teala!

If that's the best response you can come up with, that's pretty damn sad. Also, I've been playing MMO's since EverQuest launched back in 1999. Try again.
