For the third time this week, a retired CIA officer has told Antiwar Radio that U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East is the driving force in Al Qaeda’s recruitment and motivation for attacking America on September 11th.
McGovern was a CIA officer under seven U.S. presidents over 27 years and presented the morning intelligence briefings at the White House for many years.
McGovern was a mid level officer in the CIA in the 1960s where his focus was analysis of Soviet policy toward Vietnam. McGovern was one of President Ronald Reagan's intelligence briefers from 1981-85 when he was in charge of preparing daily security briefs for the President, the Vice President, the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the Cabinet and National Security Advisor. Later, McGovern was one of several senior CIA analysts who prepared the President's Daily Brief for President George H.W. Bush.
Upon retirement, McGovern was awarded the Intelligence Commendation Medal from Bush (which he later returned).
When asked Friday afternoon what he thought of the exchange between Congressman Ron Paul and Rudy Giuliani said (at 23:45 out of 43:23)
“I’m really edified by Ron Paul stepping up and stating what he believes to be the case."
“If you believe that they hate us for our democracy or for our freedoms, well I’ve got a bridge in Brooklyn that I’d really like to sell you at a cut rate.
“They hate us for our policies and that’s what Ron Paul was saying. …"
“Giuliani … really showed his true colors there as a demagogue.”
Former CIA counter-terrorism officer Philip Giraldi, in an interview with Antiwar Radio on Wednesday,
“I think anybody who knows anything about what’s been going on for the last 10 years would realize that cause and effect are operating here – that, essentially, al Qaeda has an agenda which very specifically says what its grievances are. And its grievances are basically that ‘we’re over there.’
“So all Ron Paul was basically saying was that – even as the 9/11 commission report indicated – there were consequences for our presence in the Middle East and if we seriously want to address the terrorism problem we have to be serious about that issue.
“Giuliani indicated that he was not only not serious about that issue, but seemed to be ignorant of both the 9/11 [Commission] report and political realities in the Middle East.”
Giraldi also disdained both Giuliani and Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney’s embrace of torture and the Guantanamo prison and explained how it only helps al Qaeda, particularly in their propaganda efforts.

HERE is a nice site where you can look up the voting record of different representatives. I linked to the Ron Paul page but found some others that were interesting. I also found the "interest group rating" to be a good read. Anyway, there's all sorts of things you can look up.

Thanks for all that AlexAmore. I'm glad you come here to give us those.
I just wish the media would pick up on this CIA fella so that he could slam the comments made by Guilliani and Hannity back into their faces. But, I'm not expecting that to happen, since most of them are as scared of Ron Paul as the Republicans are.

They'll probably accuse these highly accomplished CIA officers of "Blaming America". It's really funny because if anyone is blaming America for 9/11 it is Mayor Giuliani for this little gem. Giuliani says they attacked us for OUR (America's) freedoms. Ron Paul is saying our politician's foreign policy is what caused the attacks.
I'm not gonna trust a damn Mayor to teach me about foreign policy and I encourage none of you guys to trust him either. Getting attacked doesn't qualify anybody for foreign policy expertise. Rudy Giuliani is a business man, he knows how to make money. Money is his expertise. He is a millionaire and he knows how to make millions of dollars of profit from attacks. For example, he created a new a security business and uses 9/11 in his sales pitch.
