Vanguard is only a flop if SOE allows it to become one. Sigil did not have the necessary funding to go one so SOE bailed them out. SOE turned EQ2 around I suspect they'll do the same with Vanguard. So don't be so quick to call this one a flop. In a year if the numbers are still down..sure call it a flop. Until then I think I'll stick by it and watch it become the best game currently on the MMO market.
It is official it is a flop. The design team lost a ton of employees who were fired and now have a staff of only 50. The game is so empty the 40+ levels are waiting 4+ hours for groups in a forced grouping game on all of 9 servers. It is really pathetic that someone was dumb enough to make a niche game for a group of players this small and spend $30 million.
Yay people lost their job and I'm happy about it because it made me right! HOORAY!!
I'm really curious how your train of thought brought you to such a horrible conclusion. You really need help.
If you can't handle other ppls' opinions, go troll somewhere else. Personal attacks on him just because you disagree, is pathetic.
Just realise that Heltern was doing the same damned thing. The only difference is that you agree with him. Which is fine, but mind your double-standards.
honestly, i see no personal attacks in heltern post. he is not implying anybody need help and is just expressing his opinion without bashing any other post, do you? so what double standards were you talking about again?
"If you give a man a fish, you feed him for a day, if you teach him how to fish, you feed him for a lifetime"
I dunno, the term flop seems to cover it when: a) 30 million dollars spent producing it with very little, if any hope of recovering that cost, much less amking a profit.
b) A small and dwindling population
c) a buggy luanch and poor word of mouth along with luke warm reviews ( for the money spent, the reviews should be solid...they're not )
d) Tech. issues with a wide variety of computers.
e) A large change over and decrease in staff.
Not where I'd want to be after spending that much cash backing a game. I'm sure the money men are not pleased.....
SWG is a flop then. Always been, always will.
You bet your ass SWG is a flop , with what is without doubt the largest franchise in MMO history to work with this game should have been in WOW numbers range

I couldn't care less about those ppl who lost their jobs. If they didn't realize they were on a sinking ship, then it's their own faults. Everyone else knew, and these ppl were in the middle of it. Besides, why should I care when 50-100 ppl lose their jobs on the other side of the planet? The qualified ones will find new jobs. Maybe not those whos only qualification was being a brother/sister/whatever of someone in charge there. Yeah, Sigil is known for that too...
It's not a personal attack. I honestly think people who wish others to fail just to be right have some serious issues. Also apathy is not an attractive trait on a person.
Also Vanguard had huge hype before it was released so saying it was a "sinking ship" makes no sense. Just because you and a few of your friends didn't like it from the start didn't make it a sinking ship. The fact of the matter is it has a decent amount of subscribers for a MMORPG, it just won't be making back all the money they sunk into it. That's what makes it a flop.

Here is the joke...lol Vanguard was made to be a game better then EQ2 was desgned , they wanted it to be different.
now SOE is turning it back into a SOE game , appealing to more players i hope, but its never goingto become the game promised.
That is sad.... again had potential...but still fun to play

"You really need help" - can it be more peronal?
With "sinking ship" i was referring to several known issues during production of this game. Knowing the game was in a beta-state upon release, long before release, is one. Another is providing Microsoft with fake demos, only made for Microsoft's eyes. Do I need to go on?
If you call 35-50k subscribers "decent amount" when Brad said they needed 250k, well, I guess math isn't your area of expertise.
If you want me to show you what a personal attack is I can. I didn't get angry or use foul language and I didn't use it with the intention to hurt anyone, and I will continue to stand by my statement. Alot of you seem to think just because these people have no faces they aren't human or something. The truth is those 50 people could have had families and bills to pay. It's not even just that. People seem to think the developers went into this looking to disappoint them. Yes they had no desire for this game to be a big hit with millions of subscribers. They put all this time and effort into it just to trick you into thinking they were developing a great game. The fact is this was a vision that wasn't fully realized do to whatever reason may it be financial or a poorly executed plan.
In a perfect world with unlimited resources and time every vision would be fully realized but sadly we have to work with what we got and they did the best they could. They made some tough decisions and chose to release a game that wasn't fully finished instead of continuing to develop it only to risk losing backers and going under. Instead of celebrating your victory why don't we all just give them a break?
I'm tired of how apathetic and pessimistic many people act online. I just want to give all of you huge hugs and tell you everything is alright, the world isn't out to get you, spread the love, no hate!
The entire game did not flop, though. The issues that caused its release to flop are being worked on.
At release I hated the game. Today, I enjoy the game. My performance is good, most bugs are fixed, and a lot of content was added; they are working on raid content now. So, I am happy I resubscribed when I did.

I think Vanguard is probably a bigger flop than DD0 was. If not they are both very close to the same level.

Vanguard was more expensive, more hyped, and more of a flop..
Vanguard today - not a flop.
