Originally posted by kedoremos That's 21 MMO's that I've tried and only WoW, DAoC, EVE, and Ultima Online were able to keep my interest for more than a couple days. Why? Because these games really make you feel like you're a very small cog in a very large machine. Like there is a MASSIVE amount of world just waiting for you to discover it. Those games, for me, had the secret spice that caused me to *want* to level and *want* to get to the end.
Ok
this is a prime real honest to good example of
"maybe MMOs aren't for you"
besides, SOE just acquired the game last week. It's still botched all to hell right now; you need to give em time to fix it.
A mmorpg could be for anyone however none currently on the market are worth playing :S It's like we're all fedup of grinding XP and what does everyone require you to do? Mindless boring tasks where you go kill 10 mobs and return over and over again OR you could grind...... wooooooo how fun. It's like what do you get to grinding to end level? Nothing because the end game is boring and in most games non existant, why even have a end game anyways?
I could care less is everygame on the market didn't exist tbh.

You could have saved yourself all that writing and speech. I just want my $50 bucks back. Everything you said can continue on and you can have your freedom to choose, but that doesn't prevent or relinquish SOE/Sigil's responsibility to offer refunds since they knew and admitted they released an unfinished product.
your thinking is flawed, they aren't responsible for your bad purchase decisions.
Vanguard will always be the orphaned stepchild of the MMO world that SOE reluctantly adopted. I played it, and frankly i wish it to fail and hope it fails. This MMO existence is only bad news for the MMO genre in general. I frankly dont care if SOE can "fix" it, of course fix is a relative term when comes to dealing with SOE.
Im not sure on this, but I believe since Sigil is now dissolved I dont think we can sue to get our money back. cause I would be the 1st one to sign up as a plainttive to get my $50 back from SIGIL/SOE.

How about an update Kedoremos? Been about a week now. How you making out?
Well.. being the honest person that I am... I gave up (again). I jumped on my level 15 Ranger and played to level 16. Here was my experience:
Performance: Not so good. Not any better than I remember.
Community: *much* better than the post-Beta (2 weeks after launch) community. The people were nice, talkative, and I found a group without asking for one. This little dwarf just came up to me an said "Wanna kill some spiders?" I was like "Sure, let's rock!". I made a few statements in region ooc chat (including one that was purposely flame bait) and received mature responses from many different people. Nary once did I hear "go back to WoW you noob" (although I didn't say anything that would merit the response either).
Game play: They have definitely increased the XP gain rate from what I remembered. This part helps big time. The combo moves are just awesome.
Fun: Overall, after 3 days I was just "meh". I could take it or leave it.
I got to the point I was (again) forcing myself to login because I'd spent (yet another) $14.95 on a month's access. I wasn't looking forward to it on the evening commute. I wasn't thinking about the things I could make when I did X trade skill. I wasn't thinking about what empire or monopoly I could establish if I put in sufficient effort. So... I quit (again).
I'm living proof that the MMO consumer doesn't really know what they want but they know what they dislike.

LoL, and I guess they weren't responsible for false advertising either, right? Set yourself free....what a joke that turned out to be. Had the box I bought said anything about the game being unfinished and pushed out the door six months early, I might not have laid the money down. And no, I shouldn't be required to search the Internet before every purchase. I don't do it when I buy a toaster or anything else, so why would I do it for a game? I expect a purchased product to be complete. Why would I expect anything else?

Now C'mon.....your being lazy....You better spend the better part of your day sitting in front of your computer searching various websites looking for information on EVERY thought that passes through your head.
Dont go walk around a store and look at stuff thats interesting and think about buying it till you rush home and ........help me out here peeps........??????.........thats right check the internet for infomation on the product.
Dont worry it really works.....I dont feel so lazy anymore.......Instead of my body getting a miniscule amount of exercise from walking around, my fingers and ass feel numb from sitting and typing all day, and I saved money . LOL what a joke!!

A year old account at MMORPG.com maybe?
I find it hard to believe that anyone who posts on this site, and prior to the release of VG at that, didn't know about the state of the game at release before purchasing.
OP you allowed SOE to take you. You represent the customers who allow companies like SOE to keep ripping off the public. Without supporters like you, they would be forced out of the MMOG market. Have you bothered to read these forums? I see the new excuse for not holding SOE equally accountable for Vanguard's dismal condition is that they just took it over and need time to fix it. Pray tell what is the statute of limitations before SOE can be blamed? I suspect the fanbois and SOE shills will continue to think of new excuses. When you comment about an SOE product or SOE in a positive light, you might want to be honest and include a disclaimer identifying yourself as an employee, paid or volunteer notwithstanding.
Overlooking the obvious flamebait in this post I'll just say this: I want Vanguard to succeed because I know what that would mean for me: I've got a good game to come home to.
Honestly the level of anti-SOE zealotry on these boards makes me think you all would actually physically harm these people for what they've done.
Never ONCE did Smed or anyone at SOE do ANYTHING with malicious intent. He/they did everything which they thought was in the best interest of the COMPANY. That's what he's paid to do.
So he did a bad job. You mean to tell me that every job you've ever done has been perfect? I know mine aren't and won't be. Maybe you should think about how hard it would be to walk a mile in his shoes.
here here. I have noticed alot of the flamers have not even attempted to play the game in it most recent format. They were in beta or quit a short time in. Mainly because it was not a simply game but you had to think. I challenge them to get a pass card and try it again then they can flame to their hearts delight. (if you didn't vote in the last election you don't have the right to complain about how bad the government is running the country) [same goes for an MMO if you havn't played it you can't commment]
A MMO is like life. It is something to cherish and enjoy upon in it journey. So why race to the end of it. In life at the end you die.

Wish Darkfall would release.
