They have been posting beta notices for two years now. It means absolutely nothing. It is still the number one vaporware title still in development. You know the problem with a game like this, they have been developing it so long the technology they are using has been bypassed.

Every MMO that is relesed in 07 or is in develpment have not bypassed DF yet. Not in grafhics of game features.
Even if im also waiting AoC, wich i think will be the closest to DF....it have nothing that could threat DF....not even if DF have been in development for almost 7 years (4)
And thats is just a little reminder how little the MMOs features have evolved....
Hmm i'm still skeptical. This game looks to be great. Maybe better than Age of Conan maybe? But its been in development for so long and not much progress seems to have been made. I dunno. I'd love for this game to get finished but i dont think it will be. And i'm sure there are lots out there that would agree with me.
The scope of this game alone warrants the time taken to develop it. Also the developers themselves are very very passionate about making a game that will surpass all expectation. They dont want to release a half finished game then have 3 years of patches.. i wont name names. Also the map of the world itself apparently took 18 months to complete (size of germany, correct me if im wrong) So i dont think any game will beat Darkfall in terms of sheer size and scope. That mized in with hundreds of monsters and creeps, npcs, 500+ skills. Truely an ambitious project that us PvP fans have been waiting for for a very long time. No carebares here im afraid *jumps for joy*.
Whenever it comes out, yes when!, i have faith in this game, it will blow Aoc and War out of the water and Pve players will only wish they could take the crap of being ganked and killed to play it. If i believed in a god, then id be praying for this games release, but as is im just silently wishing to the tooth fairy to make my dream come true .
Yeah I agree Snoopy, people just need to check out how long games like Mass Effect and Dragon Age and such other titles are taking to develop, it's worth the wait and it certainly seems to be making at least some headway from what I've been reading on the official forums. The main thing I'm looking forward to in this game is the fact that I can finally use some serious tactics. I play Counterstrike Source quite often and regardless of what people think it is very tactically challenging compared to other FPS' that try and boast about how you have to think to play when all you get is these buggy 'stick your back to the wall' animations or leaning round, sure it makes it a bit more fun but I have yet to find a game like Counterstrike where you can change your tactics regardless of the enemies' skill or numbers.
There are some maps I've been on in that game where I've managed to take down an entire team with a pistol just because I knew how to move around quietly properly, Darkfall in my opinion will be similar to that and I for one can't wait for a game like it to come out, it's about time something like this wiped these grind MMORPG's off the map. I would happily abandon any MMORPG I'm playing really to get into a game like this, just so I can have the chance to put all the tactics I've been working on to use in strategy games and FPS games, except the tactics I use will actually effect players on a really large scale. Just a small group of players could literally turn into a little bandit clan and siege a clan town using guerilla tactics and ambushing caravans, that kind of stuff is what I've been waiting for in MMORPG's for a long long time.

Lol anybody can sya what they want and show u a little model or scenerely all they want like with DNF, and setup a forum, dosnt mean anythign will ever come of it. I could say i wanted to make the best pvp game ever, and produce some detailed redered scenes and image on mental ray then relase them and start up some forums. Dosnt mean the mean im going to make the game. What i think is they are having more of a fun time having thousands of people signed up on thier forums and keeping it busy and speculating. Must be hilariuos to them lol

No offense, but you don't have the faintest clue what you are talking about. There was a time in this game's development when developer interviews happened all the time, and fans of the game used to chat regularly with the developers in irc. There was a time when mainstream gaming journals and sites like IGN took an active interest in Darkfall. That time was long, long ago, but you wouldn't know about that. Maybe you should do more listening and less typing about things you are ignorant of.

Wait... it was announced in the summer of 2001. This is the summer of 2007. That makes six years not seven or eight. I don't think I understand this new fangled math!
I have followed the game since 2001 so i think I know a tad bit more about this game then the people who jumed on the badwagon 5 months ago. There was never a concrete beta date given, we had guild beta sing ups and that's about it; we pretty much always heard the same damn thing when we asked when is beta they responded "Not ready yet, we dont have a date". Now things are different because they came out openly and said that they have an actual date which is supposed to be smoetime this summer, in other updates we were told that the game would be nearly complete when it goes to closed beta and then open beta; in other words there would not be a 2 1/2 year betas like most games out there since they already spent a ton of time duing internal testing.
They're updating their website which is a good sign, relaize that in the past 6 months we received more info on the stae of the game then at any other time. Closed beta will probably start sometime at the end of the summer, prolly august and it will last for 3 to 4 months if everything goes well we will see open beta afterwards and we wont have to deal with long extened beta.
If they actually do manage to get a beta out this summer, how much you want to bet that more than 50% of the features they have promised won't be there. Way to ambicious a project for a small dev team to do. Unless they can find a publisher soon, this will be just another Shadowbane,
I'm not sure Darkfall is the game for me.... pretty much a Carebear in my old age.... but I'd like to see it released to give players who've been looking for this sort a game an outlet.....its really been a long time in coming for them.

Vanguard showed alot of gamepley during development....and that mean its a good MMO
