Seriously guys asian MMO's just suck! They are all about grinding! Grinding is bad because it encourages players to uses bots..which the purpose of hard work for other players...this is the reason why quest based MMO's are better...which are 90% american MMO's. Asian MMO's need to stay back in the far east.

Lol! Yeah, maybe I should change that up a bit to say that It won't be very big in any market OTHER than the Asian market.

That aside, the minute I started playing I saw that it had much of the same factors in it that turn me off of Asian MMORPG's and that is the grind is king and customization is practically nill. That along with the fact that when I play a MMORPG I would like to have the option to NOT be forced to have a very pretty, feminine male avatar.

Hey don't get me wrong, there must be a market for the Manga look , it's just not my thing.

This guys just trolling everywhere advertising for them. Sure it looks flashy but I don't see anything really original. Gameplay looks like an RTS with 3 characters to micro.

Granado Espada doesn't seem like a game that should be P2P in America. Honestly, it looks like a game that should be F2P with a cash shop.

Grenado Espada might be a nice game but I'm holding the torch for Age of Conan.

And yes, it looks good but gameplay is also important.

I see a few problems with GE.

First, about the multichar control. I have to say that I liked it very much, to be able to control various chars at the same time. It gives a really new feeling. Not to mention the variation of NPC cards you can get, which really means lots of classes you can play. It isn't true that you cannot form parties with other people, of course you can! While it's true that some people are mostly AFK, i think it's a good point in a korean grind style game. This way you can do other things, until you get a super-spawn or some miniboss on screen, and then you get on the keyboard to use your skills actively (or face death). This means, while you are AFK, you cannot leave the party without monitoring the leveling since this situations do happen all the time.

On the other hand, I found it too complicated, specially in the PvP situations. One thing is the leveling in semi-afk mode, and the other thing is to use your party at 100% skill. To micromanage three characters at a time is too complicated for me. I already have big problems with just one, three is too much in manual mode. But I'm sure those 15 teenagers will have less problems ^_^

The second issue with GE is it's orientation. I hoped that developers at this age would have already forgotten the old grind a million mobs style. Or that the quests kill 200 and come back were thing of the past. It seems I was wrong, since this one is a hardcore grind-kill game with plain quests to kill 400 mobs :D While unnoriginal, it's usual for an asian game to adapt this focus.

What I do not understand is the poster of the article who says GE will outdo warhammer and AoC, all while GE is so much oriented to an asian playstyle with grind and free pvp (I won't discuss this now, let's just say this is what developers think about asians). While I think the free pvp system, or a karma pvp system are great fun along with an alliance and war system with conquerable fortresses, the big great grind as filter spoils it all while, ironicaly, it also makes the game.

    Cleffy, We'll start with...

"Does having 500 facial sliders really make your character unique?....... "

Not really, although a lot of American/European MMO's do have a million unnoticable "customizations",  however all of the Korean games lack not only this, but alternate sets of  viable end game armor.  10 different colors, and 6 different armor sets does not equal customization.  Games like WoW and Asheron's Call have quite a few sets of  "uberpwngear".  In Asheron's Call, loot is completely random except for quest loot.  There are litterally millions of ways to have a succesful end game armor equipped character in AC.  In WoW, There are 4-5 good sets of armor for each of the 9 character classes.  Granted EQ, and EQ2, have the problems you mentioned..  As to the bandwidth issue, WoW has no problems.  It's all about high quality art and low pixel counts.  I realize you're comparing AoC and War, but it seems that these games have picked up on previous examples.

As for combat having more depth in a Korean grind MMO.....seriously dude, no.  AC is a great example of this.  Some monsters hit frequently with low strength,(so armor tanking worked), MOBS with low attack skill and high damage,(so you could evasion tank), Mobs that you could kite but couldn't tank, and most monsters required a specific damage TYPE to be the most effective to(8 differnent damage types).  WoW  also has much less of  a "same monster different strength" feel to it, compared to most MMOs, I.E. Pig one hits for x and can take y, while Pig two hits for 1.25x damage and can take 1.25y power.  I do not see GE following in AC/WoW's footsteps, it will probably be just like the other Korean MMOs, using my "Piggy piggy formula".

"AoC has a nice twitch system, but its mainly hack and slash".  Seriously, what was your point?  People love WoW, because of that.  People loved AC because of that.  People liked UO because of that.  People liked Shadowbane because of that(ok maybe a stretch, did anyone really like that one?).  Point being, in a game that is made for PvP, people like fast paced action.  Why do people still play Starcraft?  No really, I don't get it, move on losers.  Seriously though, any game based of PVP is going to appeal to twitch players.  As for then hack and slash being dead, or lame, look at the people wanting Darkfall, TCoS, and Aoc, and/or still playing Diablo(not an MMO, but still multiplayer, and a wildly popular RPG with hack and slash).

Onto "NEW ACHIEVMENTS FOR KOREAN MMOs!  I MEAN, ALL MMOs".

Political system and taking over territories.  UO much?  EQ pvp server?  Asheron's Call?  SHADOWBANE WOW HOW DID YOU MISS THAT?  Eve online?   A "mercenary system"?  Like in, Fable for example?  Or Fallout?  Or an MMO where you could hire someone to powerlevel you?  Election system.  Dude, nonononono.  BBS+people=polls=elections.  Or, if you're referring to in game elections, Guilds in WoW, and I think EQ had it.  Also, Counterstrike, and alot of other FPS games have elections, or if you're going to be assanine and backpedal, an MMO with elections would be Planetside.

Asian MMO = Mindless grinding to level 300 =

Although its looking great, it will only compete with other asian MMO's, rather than the western ones. But hey, I might actually give it a try at some point. Maybe after a keg or 2.

P.S.: Looks are nothing. Looks won't keep you interested untill the endgame.

Granado Espada is a nice game. I am currently playing the SG version of Granado Espada.

But hey, you can not seriously compare GE to AOC or Warhammer, they are just a "bigger bang"
  • LackeyZeroLackeyZero Member Posts: 640

Most Inhabitants of mmorpg.com hate asian games with a passion...

"Asian games = grind"... Even if it has quests... "Asian games = only grind"

Western games with same types of quest, such as go kill 20 rats... "Western game = superior, because they have quests"...

All I have to say is

    ...

Anyways, Graphics... This deal with tastes, westerners generally prefer "realism" over "style"... I tend to like the graphics of asian game more do to the style and I think it adds more character to the game... (Ex: I think WOW or lineage2 or GE or etc. has more style than games just as Vanguard or face of mankind or Everquest or etc...)

Btw, I have no gripe with those saying Granado Espada won't affect AOC or Warhammer. I feel the same way, because they're too different. I wouldn't pay for Granado Espada due to my taste for things such as customization, and other gameplay related stuff. That said, I strongly disagree with those completely ignorant posters in this thread that apparently believes that just because they don't like it that everyone else doesn't like it either.

Fact: if there aren't any westerners, who play asian games, then they wouldn't port it over (often times asian games that have been out for years in asia)

    that's enough...

I mean an actual in-game method to elect representatives that have powers.  You can elect representatives for 2 factions.  Then there is a 3rd mercenary faction you can sell your own characters off to other characters.  Also conquesting zones is alot more like planet side, only you can actually reap benefits from owning a territory for a prolonged period of time.  Its kinda unheard of for an mmo to intermingle pve and pvp like this.

I've actually done my research, have you?  I am not talking about some Korean grindfest, I hate those too.  I am talking about a game that tries something different and attempts to add new dynamics to the mmo genre by intermingling RTS elements.  Also the game has dozens of end-game looks per class aside from recruitable NPCs.

I think Granado Espada will be another Lineage 2, full of botters with a small dedicated fanbase. I also think it is obvious that this game will do NO WHERE near the sales that WAR or AoC will do.

CleffyII  - have you looked at coldmeat's link, or you just going to pretend your still right. Its quite obvious that you are spouting nonsense and not remaining critical or un-bais. I can go off and list all the fetures of shadowbane they woudl BETA GE , does that make it a good game ... nope.

Its not just about what features a game has its about how well they are done and what it means to the players.

Your going to claim GE did it well , i say otherwise and so does EVERY other person in this thread, seeing that last post on this : gl convincing the rest :)

No point trying to convince people that are so full of themselves that they won't even give the game a try just because its Korean.  I am just tired of all you guys flaming a well-made and developed game that breaks the mold of typical mmos.  Don't complain about no innovation in the industry if your not willing to try an innovative MMO and sum it up with the rest of the crap, and also don't complain when you discover WAR and AoC aren't all  they are cracked up to be.

There's a difference between a fanbase and people who play it.

Oh and since you decided to bring WoW into this, the only reason there are so many people playing WoW is mainly because there's nothing else to play. If you log onto any server there will be many players that agree with me.

The point being is that most Korean MMO's are shallow grind fests that lend themselves to botting.  If you think this game will be any different, then you are definitely in the minority here.

I hardly see anything that is innovative in this game beyond the additional npcs, which I think is really dumb for a MMO, you are supposed to play with others, not yourself all the time.

I am also not enamored that K2 Networks is running it, they have a long track record of horrible service.

It might be a decent game besides all that, we will just have to wait and see, but making ludicrous comments about how great the game is before it is even released is beyond dumb.

  • RuffozRuffoz Member UncommonPosts: 76
I'm not sure what you mean, but having a BOT in game is no fun at all, that, and only for that fact, put the game to a ruin.

Everyone Afk's and you can't talk to anyone cause everyone's BOOTING on the  "patrol feature".. Unless they fix this, the game will be full of immature people who take the benefit of a BOT included in a game, and do nothing but leave the characters afk..

     Honestly, the game had potential.
