Top stuff bud. Mythic knows what they're doing. You can never judge a game 'till it's out. Open beta hasn't even come out yet and people are crapping their pants. Patience people.
This game is still around 8 months before release and it is #1 on the hype meter. by the time the beta's are closed the gameplay will look much better and people will not complain about the animation. (i think it looks just fine right now)
I think that's most likely just because they want it to look more stylized. I mean in a lot of game movies the camera is at an odd angle. Hell I remember the old NWN1 movies, the camera was always circling around above the player at this unnatural speed, it was weird, and everyone hated it lol, so they stopped.
I don't think they move the camera at a strange angle in order to decieve us, just to make their movies a bit more stylized. 90% of them are very artistic and story-based as it is. Which IMHO is fantastic. I'd rather watch that then a dwarf hack at an NPC once every 2 seconds in a very static way until it is dead myself.
Well in the last AoC movie (the forst swamp), the camera changes at least 15 times in the 12 second fight, I would consider that to be a bit excessive and a way to hide what the game really feels like.

Some people just don't need to have 85 billion different looking attacks to enjoy a game. And I don't mind them trying to make little mini films of the game but if they do it for almost EVERY vid they put out it just starts to get rather suspicious that they keep doing that instead of just doing start forward show of game play. I'm not trying to offend but if AoC just wants to show me the amazing scenic vistas they have in the game instead of showing me their "awesome" fighting animations I'll start to get uninterested and just move on.
AoC's animations suck? I think you'll find most people would vehemetly disagree with you.
Hahaha, and your point is?

OK, ok, combat looks fine, but the movement in AoC is kinda PlayDoh, it looks realy artificial, lacks fluidity, movement is the worst part of WARs videos too. Maybe suck is a too strong word?
Please lets all wait to the beta come out before we talk about a game graphics sucks from looking at videos etc. When you play the beta then release your fury. Domo Arigato.

We talk, or argue about the stuff we know and see. We like to think we know where it's all going and then we talk, even more argue about that, but wait? Wait we do not!
But even if it was Alpha footage, what was shown was general character movement. There is no reason they would rework / remodel every character animation after they've already created them. I wouldn't be surprised if what is in that footage ends up making it to the final game. You're right, the sounds will get revamped...and I'm sure the spells will get work.
But to rework the skeleton for every character? Waste of time. No doubt that these monstrous block people will be close if not exactly the final movement style....ew : ( I've played a lot of MMO's, and one of the things that keeps me interested is fluid combat. Age of Conan has the fluid smooth animations any game should have by now....But I dont even ask that much.
You'd just think that their animations would at least match 2 year old WoW....but they don't even make that bar.
The games go through change up till they go gold, though the changes get smaller.
Nothing is a waste of time if it makes a better game.
Not that I think this is going to be even a moderately fun game.Just one big grief killing bash.
I remember hearing one the of the ways they are getting rid of the "grief killing", is if you kill someone 10 levels lower than your own respective level then you actually get penalized. And if you kill someone higher than you, 2-3 levels above you get more reward for doing so, and less if you kill someone 2-3 levels below you.
Grief killing is Stranglethorn Vale on a PvP server in WoW... grief killing is not almost for certain not going to exist in this game. And if it does become a problem, players are fully aware that they can level up by PvPing with players their own level in RvR.
Sounds right, I won't be surprised if there is grief killing in WAR just as long as there isn't a huge mass of it, and there will be an easy way to combat it.
I'm not understanding how you see there being grief killing in WAR. If you are a Tier 2 character, you cannot go to a Tier 1 area. If you are a Tier 4, you cannot go to any of the lower tiers. Yes folks, that means high levels can't go and abuse noobs. You also don't have to enter the PvP frontline zones if you don't want to.
The reason for AoC's smooth animations is because they used the video capture from real people and even a horse. That let them make very realistic and smooth animations. The in-game fighting looks amazing, though I can't seem to find any high quality videos other than the ones at youtube from around e3 last year. I look forward to them posting more official videos on their web page of in-game playing
WAR did not do that. They seem to be doing animations by hand I guess. I suppose that adds to the cartoonish style environment though, but I do agree, the animations still need to be further smoothed out regardless of how it looks. They are very quick and choppy.

How will there be griefing?
Not true. At least not officially approved.
They have several Ideas floating right now.
One of them being: When you enter a Tier 1 Zone as Tier 4 Character, you automatically scale down to T1 power.
They won't go the "You can't enter the Zones!"-Route, because the lower Tiers are important in determining Zone Control as well, and unique Scenarios will be in T1-3 as well. It'd be pretty stupid to exclude High Level Characters from Low Level Content totally, just imagine you play with your friend, he being Tier3, Rank 8, you Rank 9, and then you lvl up and Poof, can't enter the Zone anymore.
But you are correct in that Mythic of course knows that if they let People, many will grief, and because of that, they WILL have effective countermeasures in place, to keep it at a minimum level.
