A.) AO's problems were a result of low funding and an overdue deadline, niether of which are a problem here
B.) AO won multiple award for the innovative features it introduced and/or invented that are now bread and butter fare of modern MMOs
C.) Funcom has had 6 years to learn from the few real mistakes they did make working with their very first MMO.
D.) AoC is working from an entirely different concept than AO is, that is to say a PvP focused game that tries to balance PvE in as well, as opposed to a pure PvE game with PvP slapped on at the last second.
Does the above mean that AoC is a guaranteed success? No, of course not. It does however mean that the chances of it "sucking like AO did" are extremely low. Heh, and personally, AoC's already proven its graphical superiority, which in my opinion was the only real issue AO currently has.
No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main. any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind, and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee. Hemingway
Age of Conan is PvP for adults and Warhammer is PvP for children. (lots of blood and hacked off limbs) Do you get the picture? And Age of Conan will defently have the sharpest graphics and the most interesting world of the two.
Ummm...
Warhammer is an IP, featuring more than 3 PC Games, an Pen and Paper RPG as well as a TT Game.
You probably meant WAR, but it doesn't feature PvP for children either. It's Teen rated, which means 12+, which means blood
The most interesting World? Let's see
In WAR, we got living Space Mushrooms who create a magical Energy named Waaagh!!!
Teens are not adults and I doubt that you will have blood in a 12+ rated game.
Amalaric knows her Shizzle, afterall she is a 33 year old male.
This is coming from a guy who decided to call himself Crackhead?

Can you please stop acting like Nostradamus ? WAR this, AoC that, do you really think it's going to change the outcome of the playerbases if you put emotion into typeing bad shet about the game (or compampany) you dislike. Wait for facts, give the games a test run, let others test them when they launch then sum up some facts.
It's great having someone agree with you/ side with you but stop acting like trolls, because most of are doing only that.
Call me crazy but I'm not sure how this poll proves anything other than showing which game has more players interested in it. I suppose thats the point. Personally im equally excited for both games. They both offer completely different worlds and completely different play styles. I'm rather versatile and as long as a game is fun I like it regardless of how people compare it to other games. I've always found the idea of comparing two games that are made from different styles can be compared. Its like trying to compare the Star Wars movies with the Lord of the Rings movies.
How anyone can say 'its a mature game because of blood and guts" know very little about kids who are 18 and younger. That was one of the things that catapulted Mortal Kombat's popularity with an underage crowd, look mom I can rip his spine out! Kids are going to play both games though I personally see Warhammer having the stronger 'adult' crowd since an overwhelming majority of Warhammer world fans are adults. When I go into game shops I see 'kids' playing the clix genre of miniatures while the 16+ crowd play Warhammer. Mostly 20 plus in my experience but that could be just the area I was in.
In all honestly age doesn't matter, what matters is how well they can behave and hold themselves. I've met adult players worse than any kid I ever babysat for when I was a teenager (and these were some spoiled kids!). Maturity is a state of mind either way it won't determine which of these games are 'better' for the sake of saying 'this game is better'. Both games from the looks of it IMO are bound to do really really well.

Pretty much, I just can't deal with the auto-attack type setup anymore. If AoC's combat ends up not panning out, then I guess I'll just wait for the next one that tries to be more Action based.
Overall AoC looks like a really nice idea with some great ideas and im definately gonna try it out.
but..
If you havent read more on WAR cause its not a WoW clone.. its so much more developed than that. I know it maybe around the same Genre with Orcs etc but itll be enjoyable, not just a grind but FUN QUESTS! rather than slay 10 boars and the RvR will definately be a puller especially for me as PvP is my favourite aspect.
But please atleast view the podcasts before you typicalise a game.
I don't think that's fair. I played AO for a couple of months and although I didn't like it because of the equipment system. The game was a very solid first age system with a unique (in terms of mmo's) genre.
first off both games have their own website that can tell you what will be in the game.
conan is the better game. simply because it offers more to do. warhammer is mostly all about pvp. conan has pvp, rp, even some rts in it. plus conan pvp looks better anyway. i guess if your a huge fan of warhammer you could try it out. if you want the better game get conan.
Terrans - The human race in Warhammer 40k consist of armoured warriors whos armour looks very similar to the terran soldier. Also the Ghost unit looks like an Calixus assasin which is a assasin Humans can use in Warhammer 40k.
Zerg - The Zerg a vast Bio engineered race that is operated by the Overmind a centrall inteligence that controlls the swarms. In warhammer 40k the Tyranids is a vast Bio engineered race that is operated by the Hive mind a centrall inteligence that controlls the swarms. Also ALL of the Zergs units look almost identicle to Tyranid eqivelents.
Protoss - The prtoss a Phycicly powerfull race that operate advanced technology powered by phychic energy. The Eldar a Phycicly powerfull race that operate advanced technology powered by phychic energy. There units even resemble Eldar units, For example the Zeolots could almost be Aspect warriors.
This is nt to say that Starcraft was a bad game. it wasant it was a bloomin good one but even back then i could see the similaritys.
Concerning the warcraft games well its been well posted here that Blizzard were sued by Games Workshop abd blizzard were forced to settle out of court. So that should tell you a lot about Games workshops case now dont it.
Also games workshop and warhammer started long before The first warcraft game so in the end games workshop came first.

Please, please, please people stop saying that WAR has nothing to offer but PVP. This game is not Fury. If you haven't done so yet, you really should check out the new podcast on WAR's quest and PVE system According to Paul Barnett, WAR is going to have both short and epic continent-spanning PVE quests in addition to RVR, and your success in PVE can indeed help your realm. There'll be plenty of "easter egg" quests to reward explorers for going off the beaten track. But I'm really looking forward to the public area quests - Barnett talks about a public quest where the orcs have to get a giant drunk so he'll fight for them or how the dwarfs need to all work together to get their giant Navaronne style cannon working.
At the very least, this video is a hillarious spoof of everything you hate about WOW and Everquest PVE. You'll be rolling as Barnett talks about hacking " a million bloody bears" to death so you can turn in 5 lucky bear claws in WOW. I love when he says "in WAR, our goal is to make quests that aren't F*&#ing stupid."
i like PvP and the fact that AoC requires me to grind to max level before i can even start to pvp puts me off. add to that the fact that i have to then raid to get items to remain competative...
im sure AoC will be a good ish game, FUncom have lost me as a customer with AO and the fact that they havent released that much info on the game itself, but im sure that those people who AoC is targetted at will enjoy it muchly. bunnyhopping combo mashing isnt really my kind of game, i prefer more sedate and tactical to xbox style. (anyone who says that the pc game wont be xboxed up really should look at the interface in oblivion for an example of what i think is going to happen).
ill probably buy AoC while im waiting on WAR, it seems daft to just slate it without being willing to play it (like some enjoy doing to other games).

A.) Level 20 is the only requirement before you start to PvP, and that is simply because untill then, your still in the tutorial phase. PvP levels and skills are quite seperate from the 80 PvE levels.
B.) Crafted items are the best equipment ingame, no ifs ands or buts about it. You do not and never will have to raid to be competitive. Equipment earned through successful PvP (IE blood money purchases) are also supposed to be highly competitive with their PvE counterparts.
C.) Bunnyhopping is not possible here.

AoC is a sandbox MMO. WAR is not. This is the reason i will play AoC. I need a reason to do PvP in a MMO. Building yourself a empire is a good reason. Doing "quests" is a bad reason.
While reading through the features on Age of Conan's website, I personally fail to see where it explains why AoC is sandbox. Aside from player made cities and guild warring, it seems much like any other MMORPG. It seems far too focused on the Age of Conan storyline to be considered a sandbox MMO. Half of the listed types of PvP fights actually seem to be instanced (Mini-games and arena fights), I fail to see how this is sandbox.
While I'm not knocking it because it's not a sandbox (personally, I don't think sandbox MMOs would do well), but was just curious as to why everyone seems to think AoC will be such a groundbreaking sandbox MMO. Is it because it gives the players the option to pick fights with other guilds, or because it's rated Mature?
