Oh, please. Did I say beat? Get over it already.You people that condone "talking to your kids" end up with brats like this. I knew that if I said something back to my parents then I had a real punishment coming. Not some sugary sweet talking.
My parents raised me fine. I realize now that they knew what was right for me and were only looking out for my safety and well being. They never beat me, but they let me know that in no uncertain terms they were the boss and I was the subordinate. The way parents are supposed to be.

When did they insult him? they couldn't have been more diplomatic if they tried. The kid had more power and say than they did, where as all i got as a kid was "Go live somewhere else then" i soon shut up. When that little shit gets into the real world, he'll get a kick in pretty fast and realise he can't have everything he wants.
It's people like that going "they shoulda sat down and had a meeting to discuss his feelings about the game". He's probably 15 and obviously has no life skills at all. That doesn't happen in my house with any of my boys. It goes on one time and they learn that they don't win. It's obvious his parents have let him run over them with no recourse for his actions.
The dirty little secret about spanking is that you only have to do it a few times. After a few times they catch the drift and you don't have to do it anymore. Consistency is the key. And there is nothing wrong with a spanking. It's a lot different than a beating. And I am glad my parents were able to use it as a tool to keep me in line. I deserved a lot more than I got growing up.
Kids need to know their parents mean business. Now if we can just get it back in the schools we can get them back in order.

I remember about 8 and a half years ago someone gave me EverQuest for my 12th birthday. I, along with thousands of others, were quite drawn in. I'd stay up to all hours of the night playing my little gnome rogue until my parents told me - once - to get off the computer and go to bed...at which point I would. I never cried over EverQuest, and I never fought so passionately with my parents over it.
Why? Because they didn't get down on their knee next to me, with a tear in their eye, and try to explain how they were 'feeling' about my computer gaming habits. They laid down the law, and punished me when I disobeyed their rules. Today I still play MMOs, but I put a few things before my gaming - namely going to college, my job, my friends, my girlfriend, and my family. Hearing some kid, who sounds to be in his mid-teens, screaming and crying over World of Warcraft makes me only appreciate the way my parents were tough on me at that age and made sure I stayed in check and didn't let gaming take over my life.
Good grief, my 8 year old doesnt whine like that when I tell him it's time to stop. I agree, that kid sounds to be in his mid-teens and if he was mine, the first instance of such bleating would have had the comp plug pulled from the wall.
I just found it hard to believe those parents stood there and argued for so long, pretty poor in my opinion.

He said he never has done it before and he was all excited and the mom must be having pms or that new pmm,
because she was not showing any love or understanding at all.She wasn't even trying to compromise .
Maybe if she let him play a bit more he would listen to her once in a while,instead of demanding he do what he is told all the time.
Sometimes parents need to be understanding and see what maybe important to their child instead of trying to teach them a lesson.
