I played the Guild Wars E3 Demo! It was a lot of fun, the graphics are incredible and I was amazed at how smoothly it ran and how quickly it loaded!  It still looks like they need to do a bit of work on it, like adding more classes and races or something, but I'm sure stuff like that is to come.

What really amazes me is that they aren't going to charge a monthly fee of any kind! Does this mean they will be charging a weekly fee instead?? lol.

GW is really fun but it will probably lack the depth of WOW.

actually they dont intend on any new classes or races for the initial release. Just more development of characters and other more robust features.

What you talking about it should not belong here on mmorpg.com its no mmorpg its Diablo3 or ripoff from dungeonsiege or phantasy star online but not as good as those games.

It lack depth no admosphere its very simple lvl play to a boss or some guild play but for 1hour fun then its BORING!!!

Now i understand why you dont pay monthly fee i would never pay for such game its avarage hack and slash boring repitive gameplay, with no inspiring grahpics.

But i understand some will like it but it absolutely dont belong here its nothing special hack and slash game dungeon siege or pso are far superior to guildwars.

That's right, if you don't sit on your can for hours and hours it's not a MMORPG.

If you don't waste all your time praying that this will be a day you can get a decent group and actually gain exp then it's not a MMORPG.

If your class isn't a one trick pony it's not a MMORPG.

If you can do anything in under a hour, it's not a MMOPPG.

If you don't have to camp a spawn for 73 RL hours in a row in order to get a item that required of you to have by your peers, then it's not a MMORPG.

If it has PvP incorporated into the game and it's not just after thought, it's not a MMORPG.

If there is a skill element, and not just a time investment to do well, then it's not a MMORPG.

If it's fun to play, then it's not a MMORPG.

    ---

I'd agree by the old standards of MMORPG's GW is not one. Long live the new standards, change is good.

Whether GW is a RPG or not is a question of semantics that I won't waste the time to address.

Whether there has ever been a better implemented PVP system in any MMO game with multiple char class possibilities and levels to tide you over till shangri la is a good debate:

When you can immerse yourself in a pvp battle (not even a siege) of < 8 peope, for > 15 minutes (which has happened to me more than once), then there is definitely a balanced class system.

Missions are challenging enough to demand strategy and tactical thinking from groups, as well as varied class combination/group combinations. The AI has an astounding radius: More than once was I aggroed by tough mob simply because I healed one screen away.

One negative aspect of GW would be it's 2d+1/2 dimensions that leave very little to the explorer, but then again whether this should even be compared to WoW, or any other substantial MMORPGS is still a matter of semantics.

I would call this title more a MMOCTFRPG or something of the sort.

Fact is that most players that tried GW enjoyed it, which will probably mean that it flies on release.

Of course the economics behind their no pay plan is behind their game partitioning (player spawned missions and areas) and the poorly evolved role-playing aspects of the game (namely the < 3d dimensional space, and LINEAR maps)

I agree that missions should be somewhat linear in nature, especially if they are as immense as they were in the E3 trial, but the solo-space for exploration is more than a drag.

Who knows what might happen before the beta...., but I doubt that they will change a concept that seems to placate most users and will indubitably leave a mark in the market because of the large content and the no monthly fee tag.

IMHO, GW is a gem in the CRPG realm, but will never vie with the MMORPG giants, because their demand curves are not functions of each other (in other words I don't think GW is a MMORPG). Hope the devs keep doing what they are doing and should they still keep the < 3d space etc. that precludes roleplaying and makes soloing unenjoyable for most of the MMORPG audience, I will still buy the game image (I love the pvp and team missions too much)
