Have a look at Athelans introduction thread, he goes into a fair amount of detail to explain exactly how things work, and I'll highlight a couple of them for you.

"PvE weapon X might have higher dps, PvE weapon Y might have a smaller more consistent damage range, PvE weapon Z might have an attack rating bonus that aids in hitting higher level or higher defense targets. What is best for you is going to be highly dependent on the situation and the class you are playing." -Athelan

"So lets say two level 80s meet in PvP one we will call A is a semi casual, guild oriented player who hit max level has ok gear from doing some missions and such and has been enjoying PvP as he leveled in the different mini games and now spends a lot of time in the Border Kingdoms.

Now we have level 80 B. B is mister super hardcore. He has maxed out his spec and his gear by doing raids and spends multiple nights a week pursuing more. He has done some PvP and goes to the Borderkingdoms on "raid nights" off.

I am just going to make some arbitrary numbers here.

A might have 800 attack, 800 defense, in PvE
B might have 1000 attack, 1000 defense in PvE

    in PvP however
A has 800 +200 in gear with pvp bonus's (pvp bonus can be stronger because they dont impact PvE balance), plus another 150 for his pvp levels. 1150 Attack, 1150 Defense

B has his 1000 +50 for his low PvP level and no PvP bonus gear, 1050 attack, 1050 Defense

So basically A will have an advantage over B in PvP unless B dedicates the same or more time to PvP himself, while B can have better PvE gear but if A is not a raid player it won't "hurt" him, the main issue left is access to the content and that is up to quest designers etc to put in some challenging methods of being able to aquire them in addition to raids." -Athelan

"aquiring PvP gear is not meant to be done through being forced to PvE if thats now the new question you are most concerned about. The clarification regarding the Blood Money is one of people thinking it works like WoW Honor points which was not its intent.

The most powerful PvP items will be resultant from PvP quite simple. There is no reason for us to put them in the PvE areas for example since we have the dual layer system." -Athelan

So are you saying that the TOP item i get from PVE will not be any good in PVP Personally i think you are trying to cover your ass and AOC is primarily a PVE game and you know it.Boarder Kingdoms are lvl limited PVP and other than building your guild City and defending it there is not much else to do.

No, what he actually quite clearly explained is that items from PvP will give someone an advantage in PvP, because there are so many modifiers, it's possible for them to take items and give them a distinct benefit in either PvP or PvE.

There is no point to your pvp system and there is no vid that i seen proving anything you say about PVP in this game. You are in beta so should have plenty of vids of the boarder kingdoms and PVP in action.

Okay, I guess it's up to you what you prefer, but quite frankly the idea of siege warfare to take, and keep battlekeeps and towers seems like a point to me. Nice benefits from having them, including the resource areas that would be in their range. These change hands when someone takes them from you, not go win the battle, and then have it reset so people can start all over again.

No vids? Well, it IS beta at this time, and between E3 and release in the end of October, I'd suspect that you'll see plenty of these types of videos. Of course yes, you are right, they are not out now. I've got a link with over 60 video's of in-game action, so I'd guess they are waiting to release that.

I think you are panicking and never meant AOC to have so many people wanting PVP so now you are hastily trying to put some PVP system together because otherup coming MMORPG is outshining you in the game play side of things.
Be very careful you dont screw the conan IP.MMORPG gamers are fickle these days and they dont take what devs says as gospel, lets see some vids showing boarder kingdom PVP plz.

Well, the PvP system that they talked about even more than a year ago is one of the reasons I was interested in the game to begin with. I'm not sure you have any facts to support your opinion, but to each his own.

Baikal : The guy is a full on WAR fan with his own opinions which is vastly wrong as you and I know.

Its because of this and his rude/condesending statements I refused to answer lol

He is obviously qualified enough to tell Funcom how and when they should release media.

He only posted here to try and create an argument, if he truly wanted more information he should of asked better. Typical postings from a certain kind of person.

I DO NOT raid, I can't stand it, for the most part it's the poeple (basically you lot), I find it a miracle if I come accross 2 people I can group with for more than 5 minutes before wanting to insert their monitor into their eye socket. But that's just me I guess, why play an mmo I hear you say! Well because it gives me the opportunity through PvP to makes the little babies cry, litterally I can hear their tears from continents away (oh and I get to play with a few rl mates).

And the point of this post well, I wholely expect raiding to give the best items and rightly so! Raiding is a big part of mmo's for a lot of people who want to put the time and effort in I have nothing against this even though I will not partake personally. I don't want a game with 1 man instances giving raid loot, it will cheapen the experience imo. Anything given and not earned has no value. How you term 'earned' is relative obviously.

Anyhow the PvE gear for PvEing and PvP gear for PvPing is pretty easy to understand, whats the problem here? Still I'm praying we dont end up with the same situation as WoW with a load of glowy grand marshals. Either way I'll wait and see, they're no where near release yet.

This is true, and I should have known better.

It's just that when you get down to it, there are so many more elegant trolls, I actually wondered here, because he was just so incredibly off base about things..

    My bad.

You know what would be awesome is a showing of some Formation PvP scene's with some more female characters.

Apart from that, they said they wil show more of the dungeon of in which the Demon lady with the boobs is. - A Raiding dungeon.

Hopefully someone will get a weapon drop and then go try it out in PvP to prove a point lol

Yep, if I was listing things out that I'd still like to see, some formation combat, some PvP, and some more on spellweaving would top the list. I'm not expecting to see all of 'em, but the PvP is a big one to me, as I'd really like to see how it's playing out.

In every group that you hated, YOU were the only common denominator there...

How many different ways do people have to say it then being backed up by a Dev...

Someone needs to tattoo that on Neanderthal's and Pantastic's ass

Nah, just Pantastic, at least Neanderthal hasn't been deliberately obtuse and hostile about the situation, besides, they wouldn't see it there, perhaps on the back of their hands?

The needle would get tangled up in all the hair on my ass anyway.

Six months to a year after release I really want to talk to you guys about this again (assuming I'm still coming to these forums by then).  By the time the game is a year old we will know for sure how this all turned out.  If my assumptions were wrong I'll admit I was wrong.

    We'll see.

Yep  I said it a number of months ago,  I will let Sturmrabe do my dirty work.  For me I wiil be waiting a year.  I can see the trends and the way the "answers" come out.  It will only be a matter of degrees, I am quite certain.
