Age of Conan... give it the hype it deserves

Age of Conan is under hyped on this site.  It has much more to offer on almost all aspects of gameplay with comparison to other MMORPGs, including Warhammer, which is just going to try to take WoW with better graphics.  New things come onto AoC everyday, and Warhammer just releases nothing that perks any New interest, just interests of gamers who want the same thing over and over again.  Obviously this is my opinion, so i guess the fan base of this site under hypes this game cuz theyll all wow gamers... this shud be at least an 8 or an 8.5 on hype imho

Unfortunately, the hype rating is derived by adding together all user hype ratings and dividing by the total number of hype ratings. So what you think doesn't really make that huge of a difference.

Anyway, I am also looking forwards to AoC a lot more than WAR, but I realise that doesn't mean it is true for everyone else.

I think WAR has a broader appeal in the end because of (dare I say it) bigger similarities with WoW, yet providing a fresh setting and new content.

Do you have any idea what you are doing if you overhype a game and it can't deliver? Just because the game makers say it has x and y doesn't mean that they will do a good job implementing x and y.

Let it be. Don't go building up expecations so that the game can't possibly meet them.

Everyone knows about Conan. It is one of the most anticipated games coming down the pipline.

Well, if you think that WAR (not Warhammer btw., Warhammer is just an IP which exists for ~25 Years) will just be a WoW Clone with better Graphics, then you are too ignorant to have any opinion of popular interest anyway, so no, AoC deserves the Hype it has, because that's what the Public obviously rates it.

A soon as they start showing more than 1 class, and one type of gameplay I might consider it. Seriously, the game is slated for release the 30th of October.

Sorry but I don't like the FPS combat like style, I like more the traditional approach.

So I won't hype it, but i ll keep an eye on it.

yeah i'm giving aoc 10 and war 0 in an attempt to balance this shizzle. yeah war look good but is not in the same "tier" of goodness as aoc

i agree.  this game is unique and different than the other mmo's out there. plus it offers the most stuff to do in it. warhammer is just wow with more on pvp. complain all you want but watch any video about it you know its true. you think they would of changed it a little when wow came out since they were still workin on it. now it can have unique stuff on it but it just looks feels and plays like wow to me.

neither WAR or Age Of Conan is all that. they're both level grinders. Darkfall would be #1 if it didnt have the negative aura of being 'vaporware'. Darkfall is at least bringing a lot of innovation to a genre overrun with Everquest model clones. Levels, Classes, Developers retaining full control of loot distribution, etc

 

I am strong with the force and their will has made it known to me Player Run Sandboxes will offer years and years of gameplay that will blow away all these linear grinds and their "end games"

Rank does not justify its "hype" level. People who will buy the game, enjoy it, love it, and cherish defines it.

lol darkfall.. didnt see that coming, i agree its cool too, i hyped it.  Im not saying that Age of conan has to be top of the list. im saying its been massively underrated by those Pro WAR individuals who give it 0.

yes I agree I am thinking AoC >> WAR lately their design shows some interesting traits of innovation here and there. Still loosely based on the Everquest model but they are at least considering some interesting ideas. I did hype AoC pretty high but not sure which game I hyped more. AoC desrves more hype then I gave WAR for sure

1: What does being a WoW gamer has to do with anything? WoW is a fine MMORPG, just because someone does not play other MMO's of lesser quality does not mean that person is unable to rate other games



2: Ever noticed that WoW is not even on the front page of this website? Thats because the fan base of this website are not all WoW gamers.



Now go back to the Age of Conan forums and send some more love emails to funcom.

Of course,this is your opinion.Instead the opinion of the majority of the people in this forum seems to disagree with it. IMHO tastes are tastes and you can't help it.For instance,I don't think that revolutionary=a better thing(not often at least).

I gave this game the hype it deserved 1.0!!! AoC will only dissappoint the casual gamer and only the fan boi's will be in love with this game. it will have its appeal for a month or two but people will realize that hmm been here did this somewhere else.

honestly i really think Agoe of Conan rocks with all the new combat system and all that. But if Darkfall can keep up with the paste with Age of Conan, i think Darkfall owns AOC ^^ but still i gave both games very high hype ^^

I think the fact that AOC will have XBOX subscribers is going to be a turn off for some people. Just my opinion anyways.

if the best thing you can say about AoC is that "WAR is a WoW clone" then im going to give it the hype it deserves. 0.

a game stands on its own merits, not by you insulting its competition. think of something possitive to say about AoC and then people might get more interested.



as far as i can tell, AoC is an ambitious game that might remake the genre, but is more likely to fail to live up to it. its made by FC for a start, ive not seen anything that makes me think that the "revolutionary new combat system" where you bunny hop around and mash direction keys instead of clicking a target and pressing 1-2-3-4 is going to be any better, infact it looks like combat is going to be shallower and get dull quickly. i might be wrong on this, but it really does look like a console game, and those just arent my thing.

Seriously, who cares what the hype or rating meter's say? I don't bother hyping game at all, but am looking forward to WAR over AOC.  Sure, I'll keep my eye on AOC, but it has a much larger chance of failing at this point. 



BTW....its almost July......how's that beta coming along? releasing in October?  Right......
