Im still waiting for the answer to this question, I might enjoy the pvp in this game if I can grasp what makes a good player.
This is very simple. Knowing your class and class skills and how to use them as effectively as possible in combat be it solo or grouped. Knowing other classes just as well as your own and how to deal with them in relation to your own class in combat be it solo or grouped. Being able to stay aware of your environment and understanding your role in a group of pvp players. Having a quick mind and reflexes to be able to deal with troublesome situations. Knowing when to fight and when to turn and run in order to regroup. Need I go on and hold your hand some more? Having "I WIN" PVE raid gear ala WoW does not amount to skill in PvP it just demonstrates a flawed itemization setup geared to favor PvE raiders at the expense of PVP players.
So basically after a few weeks of playing a child could do it, I just dont understand why you would base a game thats almost entirely pvp off this, how do people not get pissed at the game...
Also saying it takes quick thinking and reflex is rediculous, it takes slow reflexes and trial and error.
If that child was mature enough and smart enough to delve deeply into a game like WAR I guess they could. It would be nothing to be ashamed about.
Just like any kid who might take studying pitches in baseball could learn to throw a wicked curve ball or hit a curve ball. Or a child for example who takes playing chess seriously and learns to do well against others. In fact the same could be said about anyone who that takes what they are doing serious and approaches it with an open mind. Now what is your point other then sounding condescending and elitist ?
Games I've played/tried out:WAR, LOTRO, Tabula Rasa, AoC, EQ1, EQ2, WoW, Vangaurd, FFXI, D&DO, Lineage 2, Saga Of Ryzom, EvE Online, DAoC, Guild Wars,Star Wars Galaxies, Hell Gate London, Auto Assault, Grando Espada ( AKA SoTNW ), Archlord, CoV/H, Star Trek Online, APB, Champions Online, FFXIV, Rift Online, GW2.
Just trying to figure out how people could want to pvp in a system like that, it just seems absolutely pointless.
Because its easy and gives the masses what they want. Classes that are 'roided up on stats and insane gear. Little work for an amazing reward. Consistently 2-3 shotting people just by slamming their face on the keyboard.
...And only giving new MMO players a sample of player versus player combat via rpg.
For a lot of people who play WoW, its their first MMO and don't know what true PvP is. Maybe they should be forced to play EVE-Online or DAOC and see what it means to grasp the true value of hard work and reward.
No offense to WAR but I never cared for their tabletop games or PC RTS's so why would I like WAR online?
They havnt really shown any reason to drop WoW (not that I play wow) but if i did I wouldnt drop it for some random clone put out by EA/mythic (both company's with shady resume's).
