Allow me to quote from xPaladin's post above.

"Current players who respond to the grumps, or are just looking to pick a fight, have no rationale at all."

Pretty much says it all.  Why are you current players in this forum, anyway?

What ruined SWG? The dumbass power gamers, and SOE for listening to said dumbass power gamers. Honestly the community is better today because while NGE does suck, it got rid of 99% of the biggest problem of the game yes that's right... the l337 d00d Asshat power gamers.  Are there less players now?  Yep, but most of the current fan base are actual Star Wars fans that left during the first year due to the aforementioned issues.  I get a charge watching the no life’s cry about days gone by, as long as they keep crying and not come back  I'll be  good.

Martin go read the forums over at SOE.  All you see is complaining about balance, bugs, and everything else that is obviously wrong with  the game.  Here we are 4 years later, CU, NGE, and the forums are the SAME.

Nice try.  I agree too many people whine, but it isn't like the whining isn't proportionate to game population.  The forums now may even be worse considering that the admins delete every other thread they don't agree with.

The only people play the NGE are 13 year old spammers.

You're not a true vet.  A TRUE VET wouldn't support the company that ruined SWG with $15/month.  You are an NGE fanbois and we are tired of you bragging that you STILL play.  No one on here thinks that makes you cool man.

I just remember logging on (FINALLY) and seeing so many players all over place running around killing anything and everything they could find.  Me and my buddies just walked around looking at everything we could find.

It was so cool how open and new everything was, how much you really could do, how long it took you to walk to another city...

I had never played an MMO before that and it was as cool as I had hoped it would be.  I liked the fact there were no "levels" and that I could put points towards anything I wanted.  I would unequip my knucklers and are my pistol to get pistoleer points.  The original SWG was the coolest game ever made.

Short sighted perception is a bad thing. Honestly the community isn't any different than it was "back in the day." At all. The only thing different now is that you pro-NGE folks have a common "enemy" in veterans, and therefore a community to look down upon for simply venting about a game.
I find it hilarious you're here talking shit about l337 d00ds when you're essentially acting like one.
Nothing personal, just think about what you're saying.

Ummm guy, the only people I see that needs a kleenex...or perhaps a Tampex are the "Good Ol days" whiners.  There is nothing short sighted about my perception I have been with the game since Beta one. Are there things I miss? yes but  what was gained to me and many other Veterans and new players alike more than makes up for it, and we see that SOE and LA  aren't giving up nor are they done with SWG there is even more coming down the pike that will make the game even more fun to play and will continue to grow the community.

Telling people with serious emotional despair because of a game change to get over it isn't acting like a l337 d00d it's good advice that should be taken.

I for one am over it but ill never let $oe forget what they did.

    so flame away dude.

what you call fun i call reworked old content that they have taken out in the first place.

BM will never = Mch,I had a MCH.

If you like your game its all good then why dont you stay there.

I for one am not going to stop, no mater what you say.

I held off playing for a couple of weeks.  I had some mandatory vacation time and absolutely had to do a major overhaul on one of my cars.  I knew if I picked up SWG that'd be the end of any work that was getting done on that car.

Made it easier to deal with to read all of the nightmare stories from launch day.

Here is to Starsider. My first PA TIO and my last BSA. To my first and best friends in game Tomo and Slapor, who we spent countless hours in Bestine at the roulette table and slicing weapons and armor for people, and to later best friend Rylina (aka Preggers) and to everyone else from the days of old who made the game more than just a game.

Four years ago, I was driving a commercial truck/trailer back from a job.  We stopped off to eat lunch and I saw the star wars galaxies poster in the window of the gamestop.  I thought sweet, "I like Star Wars, I have a computer." I grabbed the box not knowing what any of the specs meant and bought it anyway.  Sure enough, it didn't work on my computer because I did not have a graphics card.  I then had to beg my wife to let me buy a RADEON 9200.  After much begging and giving here the good stuff *wink*, she let me go buy it.  I put everything on, loaded it up, and I'll be damn if I didn't have a few hours of patching (bah 56K).  I finally got on Tempest and managed to scrape some cash together to go to Dantooine.  I have no skills, novice brawler, marksman, and medic.  I ran out into the fields outside of MO and there were animals everywhere.  All of them were fighting one another and I thought this was the sweetest thing I had ever seen.  I decided to jump right in and in about 5 seconds, incap, db.

There was a bug going around at the time where characters could not come out of incap or clone.  My wounds were maxed out beyond belief.  After two days of trying to work out it out, I thought "The hell with this, I'm making another toon."  I went to Shadowfire and there I stayed until about 2 weeks after the CU.

I will never forget getting off at those starports and seeing chat bubbles everywhere, gun blasts going off left and right, and just trying to get a handle on what in the world did I get myself into.

    Good Times.

LOL, that's because damage was full on, and nobody used doctor buffs. Hits would occur for 1k+ damage.

I managed to drum up a little reign of terror myself when I reached master smuggler, but the 75% damage nerf came in a couple of weeks later. Alas.

I had just started playing EQ, my first MMO. A friend in RL was helping me level and he mentioned there was a Star Wars version on EQ. It sounded interesting. So I bought it and loaded it on my roomates computer. Holy Crap! I couldn't believe how realistic the graphics were. 1st thing I did was run from Bela Vista to C-Net with some guy who messaged me the minute I walked in. I remember I got jumped by a carrion spat on the way and thought it was the evilest looking monster I had ever seen lol.

About a month later I had enough in my bh template to start pvping. Fire KD and 4 in the LLC tree. I started circling AH looking for rebel tef to kill and every Sunday all 300 members of <Ghost> would conquer AH.

Some of the highlights after that were blowing up no less than 200 player bases on Intrepid with our basebot. Destroying the Star Destroyer in Deep Space. Farming Krayts with Turrets and a Squad Leader and of course unlocking pre-cu via the village.

Good times. Cheers to all rebels and imps.

A veteran (from Latin vetus, meaning "old") is a person who is experienced in a particular area.

I've played Swg Longer than you, I know more than you, which makes me a veteran, It's not something i brag about, but when children like you come in with your opinions and declare them fact, you need to be told where you stand sonny.

I played from the day of release until the day its demise bud.

If you are playing the NGE, you are not playing SWG.  You can come brag about it all you want, not only does it NOT make you cool, but it just shows that if SOE takes a dump on your computer you will hand them $15 and smile about it.

    Props to you-

You know what sgtwepps, either you have something to add to this topic, or don't post anything at all.  Either way, no one here cares if you are a "true vet" or not...

If you have good memories of what SWG used to be, then say it.  If not, then stop posting in the thread where people are looking for memories of what it used to be...
