Which tells what? that you experienced the old game and still plays the new? While people here are either mentioning of their first days in the game or their memories in their servers. You said nothing of the sort, so where is your "some memories"?
I think you must have them, so either say it or don't post in this thread at all (I don't truly care if you are a "true vet or not", as for the flame, it's a matter of perspective and opinion.)
Please remember your opinion is not fact.
As for the memories, i edited them, these kids arn't don't deserve a well thought out post if all they do is attack someone.
Everyone has memories, whether good or bad, so when I say I know you have memories, I am right and it IS a fact.
As for when I say no one cares, it's the state of mind that almost everyone has when they are posting. Forums are for opinions (good, bad, or anthing in between), and in everyone's opinions the fact is that they don't really care what others status are, since that isn't their main point. Their main point is to share something in their own mind, whether it is accepted by others or not. (hence all the flame war in any topic... a clash of opinions).
Well, if you edited it, or don't care to share, then why are you still posting?
Mn I miss that game I played from beta 3 up to the NGE.. I remember doing the strangest thing as a struggling creature handler. I wanted a Grand Wrix, I don't know why. And after several days of looking I finally found one. I remember after taming him the first thing I did was take a bunch of screenshots. After taking them I stopped and asked myself.. why did I do that? I'll have him for years I can see him whenever I want. Maybe part of me knew that wasn't true. I kept all my pets right up until the NGE, I took them out one at a time and took pictures and deleted them, all except for the first pet I kept, my Grand Wrix.
They might be bringing back creature handler skills but I'm not going back. I knew they would probably bring them back but I didn't care.. after the NGE I didn't want to play anymore... well here's to memories...

you'll find nothing is fact, they're are such deficiencies that allow people not to have ANY memory.
Nothing in the world is fact as there is a possiblity it will change. Only things in the past.
I started playing with 3 friends. We did our things starting new characters on some server i dont even remember the name of. We were in bestine fighting the little creatures just outside of town. Few days later we were fighting the giant toads and it was an epic battle. 4 people going all out to kill a giant worrt.
One day we had some severe mind wounds and made our way into a cantina. I found my calling at that time. There was a band performing and doing one hell of a job considering everything was still really new. We decided that day we were going to make a band and try to entertain people the same way those people had entertained us.
We got ourselves together and made a band on the GORATH server. It didnt last but a few months (we were originally based on talus lol) because soon i was all alone. Perfoming in C-NET is where I found a great group of people I still to this day hang around with.
SWG was a great game that allowed what no other MMO has ever done before or after, the sandbox oppurtunity. I think the one thing it really did lack was more Star warsy stuff. With the exception of Jabba missions, NYM, and the rebel/imp missions there was pretty much no SW lore in the game.
That was increased greatly with the CU and NGE but at the loss of so much gameplay the game lost what it originally was. It IS a different game today then it was preCU. If you go to EQ now, after what 10 years after the start, youd be bale to recognize the game with no problems. SWG is vastly a different game than when it launched - whether you think its for good or bad - its the truth.
Either way I met some great people because of SWG, I will always cherish the memories of the game I did love to play, but I will forever dislike SOE for ruining the game for me.
Wiether you were beta... pre-CU... no matter.. all Pre-NGE vets..
You were what made the game worth playing, it was a buggy , unbalanced beta game at best. Yes we all loved it, yes we all miss it.
We miss, our setting, our favorite malls to shop at, our entertainer guilds, our Jedi Marks we hunted, being hunted. Our YT 1300, our firesprays, our pets!!!
What we miss the most was having a world we created, US!! not some cooperate marketing analysis telling us WHAT we like, what gear we should have. what class we can be. We choose it.
My Love to all of Europe-Chimaera ! Intrepid ! Eclipse ! Test Center (full timers)!!!!
My respect to all of us that lost what we loved. Our Game.

It is amazing and sad how reflecting on those wondrous days 4 years ago can bring out the trollness in some.
As a second day vet, I initially logged onto Gorath, but immediately went to Intrepid when the server became available. As I stepped out of the Keren starport, I was in awe of the game. My husband, who never had interest in mmo's, saw how much fun I was having and tried it out a few days later. My entire family was hooked......a family addicted together plays together! So many sleepless nights! We had 7 accounts at one time. Unlike other mmorpgs, we actually made rl friends with a few of the players we met in the SWG world. I doubt we will see a community quite like it again. There are so many good memories....and I am glad I had the chance to experience such a great game, bugs & all.
I went from UO to Earth and Beyond because I couldn't WAIT for Star Wars Galaxies to come out. A Star Wars MMO? It was a dream come true.
As SOON as SWG hit the shelves I grabbed my pre-ordered copy, installed and patched up, logged in, and was totally amazed. It was everything I hoped it'd be.
It was a slow start, waiting patiently for mounts/vehicles, for player cities, for bug fixes and patches and content updates... waited patiently for Jump to Lightspeed and space combat.... it was a truly great game...
What killed it for me, was the Jedi Holocron grind... I thought it was the stupidest decision of all time to require mastery of 25+ professions before unlocking your "Jedi" slot. I didn't even try. If I wanted to play a Jedi, I played the Jedi Knight / Dark Forces series.
I waited so long for my smuggler profession to be useful. As I did with pistoleer. I felt I was punished for not following all of the "monthly fads" like combat medic, creature handlers, commando, bounty hunter etc.
Then JTL came out and I was so disappointed. I was a vet of the X-Wing / Tie-Fighter series. An exceptional pilot. JTL was slow, and the combat system was horrible. Why did it take a dozen or more hits to shoot down a Tie Fighter?
It was after this, that I left. Completely disenfranchised with it all after the holocron craze, and the failed Jump to Lightspeed. I'm glad I got out when I did, as things only got worse and worse with the combat revamps and New Game experience...
I have faith that maybe one day they'll release a new Star Wars MMORPG, one that will live up to the legacy and awesome power that is the Star Wars name....
JTL Failed? A failed JTL? A JTL failure? JTL Failure a? Fail JTL urea?
Oooook, if you say so then it must be true. For an MMO with thousands of players I, and a GREAT many people, a vaaast majority, JTL was exceptionally well made. Not even today can you do Counter Strike or X Wing vs Tie Fighter with a 3000 people server. Most people know that and accept that. With the limitations an MMO have on instant response player interaction, most if not almost all think JTL was a pretty good darn success.
Its not even about taste, its about having reasonable expectations or living in lalaland. Itsl ike a 15 year old girl crying on her birthday because her parents bought her a blue sports car instead of a red. I guess you can identify with that, but most people can't.

/agree. The JTL was done very well. All it EVER needed was some space content. The platform was solid.
Which tells you that SOE/LA were doing something right, even if they didn't know what it was. They captured the imaginations of tens of thousands of people with this game, and here we are, 18 months after the NGE, and people are still passionate about the game that existed before the NGE and before the CU.
Koster's design wasn't perfect, but Koster was making a solid run at a "game for everyone", where all the various types of players (killers/achievers/socializers/explorers) could find a niche and...perhaps...just a little...indulge their lesser types through a skill based system that allowed for one to be a bit of all four.
CH, Jedi, Commando, Smuggler, BH, Scout, Doctor, Chef, BE...yeah, lots of SWG time invested.
I remember taking an hour - an hour! - to go through the Imperial Destroyer acclimatisation tour because I was enjoying it so much. Finally, I got to the travel console. I knew I wanted to go to Tattoine, to Bestine, because I wanted to be an Imperial and that's where the Imperials had their base. But I pressed the wrong button and went to Mos Entha instead. So I decided to run - run! - across the desert to Bestine. These were the days not just before vehicles but before mounts. Well, every time I sw a red dot on the minimap, I circled around them but about half an hour into my journey, I saw a figure on a hillside and ran towards it to ask for directions. It was a Tusken. He knocked me down and, in one blow, he sent my Health bar to 25%. I thought it was all over for me when a real player character whom had been harvesting hides shot him from 40 metres away. He had been playing longer so he was able to escort me the rest6 of the way, giving me tips on harvesting on the way. Talk about an adventure!
My -personal 3-guild hall compound was in Tattoine, far to the North West, but my official residence was in Bastion, the largest and best defended Imperial city on Naboo. Hail FOE! Hail Bastion! Hail the Empire!

While I understand your post, JTL wasn't the colossal success it should have been. Once PvP was removed from Kessel things got very dry with JTL. Very few people ever went to Deep Space for PvP.
JTL, while a great expansion, wasn't all it was cracked up to be. It suffered from the same "it could've been so much more" aftertaste that plagues so many other games.
