Infantry Free.
Planetside reserves coming back.
The Agency.
Vanguard is getting fixed.
Potbs.
Gods and Heroes.
The list goes on and on and on and on.
My feelings toward SOE is defanitely changing.
I can now forgive them for SWG,and thank them for all the good things they are doing.
This velvet rope thing is amazing.
Go go SOE

I play SWG and EQ 2. SWG is the best MMO for sci and EQ 2 is the best MMO for fantasy.
I got the station pass while playing Vanguard, which I also play. I think vanguard can become the best mmo ever, but I think it is going to take a year or two of time. LOL.
I am really enjoying myself.
-----
WoW and fast food = commercial successes.
I neither play WoW nor eat fast food.
The two things I am really interested in is POTBS and The Agency.
They still ruined SWG.
They forced an early Vanguard release, causing the game to fail.
Chances are they're going to force The Agency out before it's finished.
They say they're only going to be publishing POTBS, but that's what they said about Vanguard as well. Look forward to 75% of the staff being fired like Vanguard and SOE aquiring POTBS as well.
Also, Infantry WAS free before SOE bought it and put a p2p price tag on it. Not to mention it was 20 times better back Harmess Games owned it, and not SOE.
So has SOE been doing anything good? No, not a thing.
I wouldn't want this thread to turn into a SWG thread instead of a SOE thread...but I played SWG before AND after the NGE (just cancelled my subscription a few days ago) and had been playing for about these last 4 months. I know SWG went to shit with the NGE...but it looks like SOE semi-learned their lesson, and that they're really trying to bring the old stuff back. If not bring the old stuff back, they're at least trying to clean their game up and make it more polished than before with their shitty new NGE.
After playing EQ2 and just now recently starting up Planetside again, i'd have to say SOE is doing alright. Yeah they're a greedy company with eyes on $$ but as long as they dish out the entertainment then i'm alright.
You forgot something
And yes it seems SOE is catching up, so its definitly not only you (OP)
SOE is like a childs seesaw ...you have to be careful not to get caught on the heavier end
False.
By all accounts, Sigil ran out of money, which forced an early release, which caused the game to fail.
Baseless speculation.
Which was true, until Sigil went belly-up.
You imply that they were lying, which is false and misleading.
The alternative was Sigil going bankrupt, 100% of the staff being fired, and the game servers shutting down.
You imply that this was all part of some diabolical plan, but I doubt that SOE intended for Vanguard to fail so badly that they'd have to step in and pay more money to keep it from folding entirely.
And they never can, if all their actions are filtered through false information and baseless speculation.
Tweakee I can see you are trying hard to defend them ..cool mate supose someone has to I don't know much about the other claims about the missconduct of SOE ..but I can say without preduce SOE has done absolutely NOTHING to fix VG . Before you start to think I'm flaming without cause .Try to understand how fustrating it is too have a passable game that you can play (not well due to massive lag ) turn into a pile of...well enough said on that ..the moment SOE (or so it seems ) takes over . I have posted in this forum before about my episode of VG (stuck in pavement unable to move ,can't even use a bind point to get out ) it's funny or maybe a big co-incident that this happen barely three days after they took over the game . you say it is baseless preduce on the part of poeple who are just out to flame SOE ..well your irritation over something that other's are trying to express is baseless as well ..SOE is a big company I'm sure that anything said in these forums is going to bounce right off them so there is no need to growl at poeple who are merely trying to show in some way there own fustrations .
YOU SIR Are a Lier.
Yeh cus i can name all the amazing sci-fi mmorpgs :S Oh wait there isn't any, EVE is the best option you have for sci-fi otherwise its SWG lol.

Nice response which puts the right spin on thie situation. To the OP yes SOE are doing a good job one that others have failed to do if they weren't picking up the pieces in a lot of cases the industry would be a much poorer place for it.

Your next 2 points are assumptions, but the 3rd point is not only an assumption, but one that is actually in favor of SOE.
PotBS will only possibly be handed to SOE if the game is doing poorly and FLS runs out of funds, and thats it. Its either that, or the game shuts down and EVERYBODY gets fired, and you will never play the game again.
Vanguard was handed over because the game did poorly and Sigil ran out of funds. And if SOE didn't take over, the game would be dead right now and everybody would have been fired. So don't even try to use it as an arguement against SOE.
While it's true that SOE often gets a lot of unfounded criticism, predicting that The Agency will be released too early is not "baseless speculation".
SOE's last big project, EQ2: wasn't ready - I was a beta tester, and we damn well told them "Look, it just isn't ready - performance is bad, the way buying and selling is broken, death "shards" (remember them) get constantly bugged, many abilities simply do not work, many upgrades do not work, heroic opportunities are broken, citizenship sucks, the archetypal class system is crap."
Most of these things eventually got fixed. We saw advertisements from SOE that basically said "EQ2 is better now, honest!". Of course compared to the disaster of Vanguard, EQ2 was a lot more successful.
Then if you go back even further to EQ1, its expansions were notorious for being released unfinished. Planes of Power was the most well known one, but Gates of Discord was probably the most disasterous in terms of completely rushed out and unbalanced content.
Have SOE learned their lesson? One hopes so. However, past experience teaches us otherwise.
Still waiting for your Holy Grail MMORPG? Interesting...
Oh quit.....it's the same ol' Sony. They'll seem like the are trying to correct their evil ways for a while and right when you think it just might be. BOOM!.....they do something to irk a whole lot of people. (not just the ones that are already irked at them either.)
Ha! All I know is that Vanguard was a god-awful mess when it first came out. I quit for a few months, then decided to come back, figuring that at least some of the teeth grinding graphic bugs and lag had been fixed...I was wrong.
I dont like SOE to much, mostly because of some stupid games they promote, buy, and their horrible flash sites... Anyway, on some games they are JUST PUBLISHERS(pirates of the burning sea, gods and heroes), they dont get into the game development, so please stop this rage crap. Indeed they ruined a game or two lol, by rushing or other things, but dont exagerate.
Please just forget about SWG. It's over and gone.
Vanguard didn't fail because of anything SOE did. In fact, the only reason it's still alive right now and has a chance to fulfill even some of its potential is that SOE gave Brad an out. My humble opinon? Check out all of the pictures Sigil posted of various members or accomplishments of the dev team. I'm not saying having fun in the workplace is a bad thing, but it seems like goofing off had a much higher priority over actual work in the Sigil offices. I'm not bashing the developers either, because human nature being what it is that kind of thing happens, but the management obviously did a poor job of focusing themselves and their employees on the tasks at hand.
I certainly hope SOE will get the mess that is Vanguard sorted out, but until then, I won't be subscribing.
As for PotBS and Flying Labs, I doubt we'll see a repeat of the SOE/Sigil situation. Seems like the game will release in much more of a finished state than Vanguard was at launch. Also, FLS is not in the same dire financial straits as Sigil was.
IMO, SWG was never good. They ruined EQ. EQ2 was a huge flop. I fail to see where they have improved Vanguard. Please, tell me what good SoE brings to this genre?
No, just because they are publishing some upcoming games that have potential doesn't mean a thing.
It's you.

You just gotten better at the art of Hyperbole +100
While Gates of discord sparked EQ1's decline it was inevitable anyway . Remember the next generation of games L2, COH, WOW and even SOE's own EQII were just over the horizon. The old girls decline was inevitable.
Oh and about EQII being a huge flop that's just you're wishfull thinking old chap. Regardless of if you like it or not just like WOW, EQII isn't going anywhere or a while.

LMAO....
Rinic, do you miss your Jedi that bad?
Ok, you and all the other "Vanbois" out there need to bow down to Smed and thank their lucky stars that Smed is one of McQuaid's best friends or the Vanguard world would now be shut down forever, period! (well, it may have been brought back by a buyer in bankruptcy court, but that could have taken years to happen) Remember, Sigil delivered what they did with $60 million dollars. How could anyone expect MS or SOE or any other company to keep Sigil afloat any longer financially. In my opinion, Vanguard still needed another year in development before beta! Anyone who kept up with the soap when it came down knows why Sigil failed. McQuaid is one of the best creative writers that MMOG industry has seen, but don't let him at the controls of the company. That is out of his element.
I will hate forever SOE & Lucas Arts for what they did to my Jedi. I completely unlocked my template the day the NGE was announced. Saying that, there is no way I'd stay away from Gods & Heroes or PoTBS just because SOE is the publisher. Hate SOE all you want, but they are the masters at getting games on the shelves.
Fear not fanbois, we are not trolls, let's take off your tin foil hat and learn what VAPORWARE is:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vaporware
"Vaporware is a term used to describe a software or hardware product that is announced by a developer well in advance of release, but which then fails to emerge after having well exceeded the period of development time that was initially claimed or would normally be expected for the development cycle of a similar product."
You're attempt to do discredit my post is childish. You failed to point out what SOE has brought to this genre besides sub-mediocre content. Instead you want to participate in a flame war.
SOE saved V:SoH from oblivion. They pumped money into a title that Microsoft had dropped long ago and rescued it from a bunch of higher ups who were misleading their employees and misdirecting MMORPG consumers. If you were a big wig at a company that was distributing a game that had been nothing but a money pit with no concrete results for the last five years, you might have pushed Sigil to get off their butts and get this game on the market. You also have to keep in mind that Sigil needed to release this game to save their own hides financially. When consumers determined they didn't wanna play a monthly fee to play a game that was essentially in BETA, SOE saved the day.
SOE has yet to release a game that captures my interest, but I think they are definitely learning from the errors they've made in the past. Just look at EQ2--few people, whether EQ diehards or new gamers to the market, wanted anything to do with this game--now it's a very popular title with a healthy population.
I think its also important to note that many of SOE games come out of partnerships with other developers (EQ, V:SoH, PoTBS) or are born of non-game franchises (SWG, Matrix) so to point the finger at SOE and blame them alone for some of the missteps that have been made in the past would be oversimplifying things.
NO SOE is not starting to do a lot of good things.. SOE is buying companies that do alot of good things, then SOE turn it into bad things. Only reason it looks good right now? Is because it is not released yet. When it is released, then SOE start working on the titles, and then.. it will be the same old SOE again.
But hey... History can be wrong... THIS time they wont do the same mistakes as the last 8 times. This time they know better... Not the other 8.. this time. Yup! I am with you.
