personally i thought the character model moved like he had to take a big shit. also around the 48 second mark he appears to be ice skating on the fuckin grass. The addition of more blood than mortal kombat also adds the that immersion I'm personally not getting.
also just noticed that after the 2 minute mark one of the mobs throws a haymaker and a doc martin pit kick in the opposite direction of the fight. truly amazing shit here.
At least most button mashers look good while you're doing it... those are some of ugliest, least appealing character animations I've ever seen, and they're all so polished that I doubt they're placeholders.

You must be use to the Unrealistic Warp speed of attack that No human can do....Go Outside and spin around a 2 handed axe and see how Fast you can do it... ...It was a very good looking battle Vid. The Speed of the 2 handed axe was perfect. The one hander sword use was also just right. I'm sure Wep speed and delay will play a role to increase speed of attack. Got my pre Orders ready...
I thought the animations looked pretty good, they REALLY need collision detection though.
ALso the amount of blood was just stupid. It looks like they are splashing red water on each other. In addition the blood does not stick around on the ground or bodies.. and no decapitations or limb removals. I've been looking forward to this one for a long time and still am but gettin a bit worried.
yes, we are all watching the same vid. I didn't notice anyone complaining about the speed of the attacks. At least me personally i said the game has way too much blood.. characters are sliding on the ground and mobs are attacking in the wrong direction. sure the animation is decently smooth but to me it still looks stupid. kinda looks like a bunch of retarded people just swinging their arms around chaotically. but to each their own.
One criticism for my part is the lack of "hit" animations. Blood abounds, but the models lack any animation to indicate that theyre geting hit. I'd like to see some indication that I landed a nice critical other than the big HP drop.
that second video was no better tahn the first. It shows that the world itself looks interesting and has good graphics but the combat still looks boring and repetitive. and for magic i got to watch someone repeatedly use 2 different skils. magic triangle zap and now i burn you as i stand on fire.. both looked quite boring

I was really surprised by this video. I went into it thinking to be excited and impressed and found myself leaving with a 'is that *IT*?' Maybe they only have a few attack types programmed in which made it seem very button-mashy. There didn't seem to be any tactics involved. Just point in the general direction of the enemy and push the swing button.
Hits on the player and enemies seem to have no effect aside from a number floating above their head. There was no recoil or impact. Just a floaty number. Is there supposed to be blocking and parrying? I hope this is an early build of AoC combat in its infancy and not a fair representation of what combat will actually be like.
I thought about this for a while and I think the combat reminded me most of the japanese shining soul series, or maybe even diablo, in both the visual representation of combat/damage and the thought involved. In those games there is little/no connection with the things you are fighting, no feeling, they are all just numbers that get in the way of reaching the goal. If all fighting can be summed up into numbers, it is going to get old very fast, and doesn't really set itself apart from any other game out there.
The magic effects look good but I'm not sure they fit the Hyborian setting very much. Anyone recall the fire and brimstone magic type effects from the novels? I sure don't.
They really need to fix the animations. Everyone walks like they have a fused lumbar spine. I know that is a minor issue but it drives me crazy for some reason.
The scenery is just amazing!

That pretty much sums up everything I thought...months ago when I saw the footages...(No I certainly doubt they would change anything in combat, unless they push release date back like 1 year+...And they said it's innovative combat...<--or something like that)
Oh btw, I think they might have something with the big group vs. group... siege, formations and whatever...but individual, or small scale battles look really lame, maybe even worse than some last gen stuff...
Both are very nice videos, remember they are not from final product but early beta. That Demonologist video was impressive, tho he didn't have his "pet" and he only used two spells.
I don't know what everyone else is playing, but this game looks better than anything else I've seen out there. At least as far as MMOs go. Yeah, it's not perfect, and there are things that need adjustments, but so what? The game is in Beta and has months to release.
I'm tired of button mashing and frankly, I'll take the occasional "ice skating" on grass to that any day.
At least wait until the open Beta to pass judgement. The game has so many features that should all be taken into consideration.

When are people like you going to stop comparing these games? People have played AoC at several shows, E3 is soon and I bet Funcom will have a hands on approach there like in previous years. If you read through the link above you would know a bit more than just being a WAR fan. Did you know you was posting in the AoC area?

After seeing these and many other gameplay videos i still cannot realize what makes this game look so amazing and original? It looks like basically every other mmo out there with higher sys requirements.. more men in loincloths and instead of hitting only 1 target at a time you may hit 3-4 etc.. I really think the sound of half naked guys grunting will get boring after a while, and no amount of pixelated tits that appeal to 11 year olds will balance that out.
Hmmm... This is one of the games I want to try when it's released. The video didn't really excite me much. It seemed like they were doing the same exact thing over and over (maybe 1 different swing in there). Hopefully that was some lowbie footage. If that's what the game is gonna be like i don't think I'm gonna enjoy it.
