Too many shills on this website. This game is going to be good. If you want realisim, join the military or be a competitive kickboxer (you may have to leave your basement).
i actually box competitively, wheres the exit for the basement by the way...anyway when aoc fans stop calling war a wow clone i'll stop making fun of aoc terrible animations.
Whoa, lots of boxers and wieghtlifters suddenly play video games. Amazing! Btw, nothing I said was directed towards you, but I know how you mean and tough ol' gamers are always self-centered.
But that is very mature of you to come in here from the wowhammer forums and whine. Very wowish of you
If you bash the game and tell all your friends to play WAR instead, will you promise never to sub to AoC? Please bash more if this is the case.... It will only help my future game community.
whats even worse is you taking offense to me bashing a game..this is a forum we are suppose to dissect games until they are released..if you take offense to bashing a game, you're on the wrong forum...if you haven't noticed, that is what gamer do....whoa lots of gay people seem to play video games too
I think ppl really dont know what BETA means for gods sakes guys get a grip the games is still in production if you dont think it is up to scratch why dont you go and try to make something better stop ya moaning untill it is released geez.
Do you actually know what "beta" is? Because if ya think the game engine or animation is going to change dramatically in a beta stage game, you'd be dead wrong. Sure things can get tweaked, but pretty much what you see in those videos is what you're gonna get.
And man I'm soooooo frickin' tired of the lame old "if ya don't like, you make something better" excuse. It's boring and childish!
I've seen this already ... about 3 trailers ago when the guy was going through the jungle and fighting the enemies with the same exact move. Just like this trailer. 3 animations 4tw ... yes what a revolutionary system because none of mmorpgers ever played Baulder's Gate: Dark Alliance series on the game consoles, etc.
And wtf did that tree block out all the camera view? Hopefully will be fixed post beta, a minor detail for some but I personally can’t stand any camera issues.
Pretty good trailer over all but I will have to help teh intraweb with da bandwidth and make a short summary:
Press up to do this move, keep pressing either left or right or maybe up again to do 1 of 3 moves. /endtrailer.

Ahhh. ..yes i do know what "beta" means i have participated in over 15 different "beta's" Ranging from alpha to closed and i know what can be done and what cant so don't give me that BS lecture, at no point did i mention anything about the game engine or animations i could not really care less about it as i am not a real follower of this game my post was to say why do ppl expect so much from something that has not even been released we ALL know that most things that will be changed will be minor, and un till them things change why judge, it is like judging a person because of the way he/she looks without even getting to know them, now to me that is boring and childish!
I guess im just sick of ppl expecting 100% from something that has not been completed.

what does my avatar have to do with anything? A little bit of humor never hurt anyone. I have played and enjoyed quite a few mmos for the past 9 years. You are exactly right about 1 thing, if a personwere into the lore maybe the game would seem more appealing to them. A good game draws in quite a few people based off of the game mechanics being fun. Those players will then pick up on the lore as they go. People keep labeling this as one of the huge juggernaut of mmo history to be, but frankly I just don't see it. The combat here is what is being shown and it absolutely looks like most every other combat most of us have been playing for years. The big draw i do see for conan is the player ran cities for what that's worth but the core element of the game is still the combat and it frankly looks uninspired, boring, and repetitive. These are the mechanics people will see first, probably long before having any say on a city and how it is ran/kept.

Okay, cool...
I think it looks inspired, different, and enjoyable enough as to make it extremely different from other exisiting MMO fare.
So, now that we've established that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, now what?
I think some of you arent being honest. Really honest.
The only thing thats been established here is that fans will often tell themselves anything to validate their own hype.
There have been some great AoC clips. My personal favorite is the long demo (dated but awesome) that showed the character creation, mounts/mounted combat, siege weapons, capital city, etc. THAT showed a lot of good stuff that was different and had the wow factor. Besides some minor clunky animations/gliding problems, it showed that they had some working systems in place to back up the features they promised. And they were moving to complete them.
But this new one? Nothing even remotely impressive, nothing new, puts you to sleep. Makes the combat look like crap, certainly makes it look worse than we all know it is (more varied and interesting).
So why defend it? Defend whats good, don't just blindly defend EVERYTHING that has the AoC name on it. If you want more people to come on board and follow the game you have to show others you can keep your eyes open and maintain a balanced opinion. If you really are a fan you should do what it takes to make it successful, which includes not driving others away. Show others with your attitude that there are adults and not just kids that will be playing this. See Vanguard if you want to see why this is in general a good idea.

Obviously he is entitled to his own opinion, but you know what, what kind of specifics are we talking here. You comments are based on a short clip with two classes, the game is much - much more than that. Specifically what is uninspiring, boring and repetitive? What mmorpg doesnt have some repetition in it?
Both of those clips seemed to have low level toons, at least thats how it looked to me, they didnt seemed geared enough to be considered high level so therefore there isnt going to be alot of spells or skills at that level.
I think its ridiculous that people say the characters walk funny, I dont like how he swings the axe slow, I hate it how characters can walk through one another etc. Really does that matter that much to you? As far as fighting being repetitive? Seriously what mmo do you know where fighting isnt repetitive? You got your main damage skill, your dot, and secondary skills like slow movement fear etc etc. and you use them all in the same order most of the time because it works best. And as far as walking goes, every single mmo i have played all toons walk funny because they arent real people, its gonna be an animation thats gonna loop it self over and over you should know this by now if you are posting in this site.
I did see some motion glitches which really dont bother me that much most of these glitches have been repeated a bunch of times by now by some of the above posters. I dont expect any game to be flawless because thats impossible. I dont like how the blood splashing takes a whole new level of definition but that is really not a big problem and it doesnt bother me that much and can be fixed, after all the game is still in beta phase.
Main things that would bug me and convince me not to try this game would be lack of content, lack of players, lack of diversity, massive bugs and ridiculous crazy grinding. Other than that a bit of an animation problem isnt going to stop me because after all that stuff becomes secondary, and there will never be an mmo that will have the perfect walking, and swinging of axes or perfect jumping or dancing if you are into that kind of stuff.
The game is supposed to be very different from other mmos and some of the stuff we may as well not be used to it and it may seem weird and strange but I think the game looks cool and the world and graphics are pretty impressive. I have never relied on videos, screenshots, forums or other peoples comments to be the deciding factor of wether I play a game or not. I'll have to get into it my self to try it out and decide wether I will spend my money to keep playing it or quit.

Agree 100%!
Ever hear the phrase that we tend to judge other people's intelligence based on how much they agree with you?
Avery, I'm thinkin' you might just be the smartest guy around here!
When I first heard of AoC some time ago I guess I envisioned the combat being a bit more brutal. I wanted to see people getting knocked back to the ground screaming in agony before you kill them, dragging themselves on the ground reaching for their dropped weapons, something more true to the spirit of conan. All I see is repeated animations with nothing but numbers showing damage. The only real difference i see between this and other games are insane amounts of blood coming off of mobs that show no damage during the fight.
I am in no way wishing for the game to fail, nor predicting it's success or failure. But as a potential interested player I wanted more from a game that is based off of Conan. If you guys are fine with what you see there's nothing wrong with that. I replied to a post about the video and to me, and some others the videos did not present the game in a good light. What works for some does little for others, even at times when both opinions share the same common interests.

Being honest....I like what I saw, and I dont think any of it looks like crap, and I dont think it's uninteresting, after all, these were some of the best glimpses that we've seen to date of magic, which to me, was a different look.
That's honesty, but like we've said before, it's just a matter of opinion as to what you like and what you dont like. I dont think that most people are blindly defending. I certainly have things that I'd like to know more about, or things that I'm not 100% keen on, but I dont project my opinion as fact, but by the same route, I laugh at other people who suggest that theirs is.

I think we agree on some parts.
For me, I wasnt expecting to see video of a player from level's 1-80 and all the possible feats an animations, I recognize that because most of the videos shown were from the media day, we are also seeing players who are unfamiliar with the controls, and may not be making the most of 'em. First day jitters type of thing.
Would I have liked to have seen more? Sure. By the same route though, I'm not writing it off, of suggesting that it's lacking. What me seen isnt a measure of the entire product, just a sample. I'd genuinely expect to see more between E3 and the Leipzig GC, and more as we get closer to release.

Whoa there little man... I think you're missing my point. First off, I can care less about your "beta" resume. It means nil. Secondly, my point is there is not one MMO that I know of, that has revamped or drastically changed it's game engine or animations while in a BETA stage. It just isn't gonna happen that close to release.
And when you say "at no point did I mention anything about the engine or animation", then why the hell are you even commenting in this post? I mean the thread is titled "AoC: New gameplay video". What else could you be alluding to?
But I do completely agree with you on people expecting too much based on a few videos, not having first hand experience and then crying about how it's not exactly how they wanted or expected it to be.
Well I guess Tabula Rasa doesnt count then. As it was in a Friends and Family Beta when the first incarnation was scraped. And the second incarnation was in a closed beta at the time when it was completely scrapped.
And no these where not minor changes to the game. The game changed from a Fantasy game to a Fantasy/Sci-fi mix to a pure Sci-fi MMORPGFPS game as it is now.
But then ageain what do I know. To say a game can not and will not change in a beta stage is purely a shot in the dark. As its not your decision or anyone here's for that matter. If the developers wish to change there game then they will. If they dont its there decision to not do so.
Oh and I should probly mention Vanguard as it changed completely over its course of Closed Beta from Stage 1 upto what was released. The game went through enough itterations that most testers themselfs had no idea what the final product was going to be like. Most of the Dev team for that matter didnt know until the game was released.
Should I also point out that Ultima Online also started out as a vastly different style of a game then it turned out to be. The original closed beta versions where limited to around 100 to 200 people on the server at a time. Most of it was more ultimaish at the time also until it was decided that the setting wouldnt support a large number of people. So it was changed and revisied into what was released.
Hmm.. what other games have gone through large changes that have evolved them throughout there closed beta life. I am sure there are many I am missing that I could go on and on about. But the point is that you should never call a Beta version of a game finished until it is out on store selfs. Anything can and will change based on player feedback and developer testing.

Wow, okay. I really don't know how to make this anymore clear. I am not talking about gameplay style, server load, if the game started out to be a fantasy type game then switched to sci-fi, etc., etc. I'm well aware of the multitude of changes that can be made to a game in beta. However as I've stated twice now in both my posts that I don't know of any game this close to release and or in the later stages of beta that has completely overhauled their game engine or basic animations. And if it has been done it's gotta be rare.

Hi EbonHawk (Nice Guild Wars skill btw!)
You will find its you who brought up about the game needing a "complete overhaul to game engine or basic animations" argument because it looks like thats your opinion and not the majority of posters in this thread. I think its great that most of us can discuss the finer points of animations during BETA. It has actually been said quite a few times on the official forums (have you been there?) that they improve the transition between animations during the last phases of polish. Polishing being the reason for the delay of release to Oct 30th 2007.
There is another bit here http://forums.ageofconan.com/showthread.php?p=620728 where by it tells you about how many animations there are. This kinda brings me onto my next point, These are videos of the Press playing, they don't know the controls, they will button mash, and not all animations for combos are available to them. Some of the game engine builds shown in some of the videos put out today are builds a few months old. Now if you had been following the game and have a "good eye" you would of been able to tell the difference between them.
You see this post by a dev here is in relation to the first video posted on the first page specifically: http://forums.ageofconan.com/showthread.php?p=752507 I think that this is kind of a nice quote "It takes less energy to continue the motion of the weapon than it does to stop it and change direction." - Which is why you see people continue to swing sometimes after the bad guy is dead. Whole topic here: http://forums.ageofconan.com/showthread.php?t=30710 have a read!
I find it quite amusing that you would think or even hint at a complete game engine overhaul / re-do animations. Why?
What you see in those videos isn't - all your going to get. You will find the Class list here - http://www.wikiaoc.com/Classes#Weapon_Proficiencies I believe we only saw a handfull today overall. Quite suprising to make that comment judged by what you saw today. Unless you have seen more than anyone else here.
Ever wondered where the females are? Here have another read which ties in with your animation woes: http://forums.ageofconan.com/showthread.php?t=22564 I mean they dont do overhauls like this in beta do they?
Ok enough with the quoting now, if you want to search for information on specifics - go here - www.bymitra.com Use the devtracker to the left side.
Im hoping that by posting here in this section you do have an interest in the game, and not in just bad mouthing the way it looks on a couple of videos (in your opinion) I think you will find the majority of people who have posted here and generally are interested in the game have a positive outlook and understand some of the points I've made above. You see its all about constuctive crititism, not about the general "jaded mmo player" we see here in 1 in 20 posts.
Now I prefer to get my information about how the game is evolving straight from the "qualified horses mouth" and not some hear say, or somebody who thinks they know more about the game than someone who is making it. (not implying you either)
The developers are pretty open to comments which you can see and find out for yourself by posting on the official forums - thats if you are interested by the way. There are some 40k people registered on there and they do, do their best to answer concerns.
You see what I find boring and childish is some of the statements that you make with reference to beta overall, without any background in games (that I know of), with an obvious lack of knowledge about the particular game mechanics / world / animations / testing/ background/ developer statements etc etc - its people like yourself who just come to some really stupid conclusions without putting anything to the contrary.
But hey your mature enough to source this information out for yourself right. Maybe if you thought before you posted, you could re-read over what you wrote then ask yourself is this right? Am I factually correct here? Do I really want to sound like someone with a massive ego talking outta their ass?
I think after you have read whats out there, sure pop back and we can all have a little chat.

THANK you for not being a fanboy the vid looked awful that combat looked awful .
Still just becuase it did doesn't mean all of AOC's will.
AXe speed looked fine ps .. the sliding while goofy doesn't make a bad game.
But none of that vid looked fun.
THE LAG was god awful. (plenty of VG haters here i bet why not attack aoc the same as you did VG. Not saying VG didn't ask for it but thats really bad lag.. oh and callign it a beta doesn't help watch a WAr beta vid they have almost 0 lag in them [and they just recently started to make it run faster] This is only a comparison because they are both big name mmos in beta.. i can tell you many other mmos in the past and currently in beta don't have that much lag .., others do [a few acctuly got it fixed before gold, very few from 4 months out]).

And no these where not minor changes to the game. The game changed from a Fantasy game to a Fantasy/Sci-fi mix to a pure Sci-fi MMORPGFPS game as it is now.

--- Edit misunderstood thomas but keeping it here because to not would be silly.
I agree with thomas for the most part betas can change games , but rarely does it change how a game works.
old comments of misunderstanding ->
"Thomas no offensive but this is so not a cool post.. if you were in that beta then you would have to know that when that after scrapping the game they didn't release it in 4 months let along 3 years after that (and still counting) They do not change while in beta (this is 95% correct statement) See becuase TR didn't stay in beta they dropped the game and started over with the same name and a new vision."
Basiclly the only games that do this is games they stop beta'ing and go back to alpha or games that stay in beta for over 1 year + (while they fix their broken and crappy game and try to make it good.)
"It has actually been said quite a few times on the official forums (have you been there?) that they improve the transition between animations during the last phases of polish. Polishing being the reason for the delay of release to Oct 30th 2007."
Show me a vid .. not trying to be an ass but .. well i believe my eyes more than a game co.s words. (unless they showing their hand which funcom is not.)
I seen Shadowbane post say, oh yeah its better now to the public while iw as in its beta... i was thinking REally ? well a bit better maybe ?
This is just one game co. many do it.

Boooo, they killed the jaguars but not that ugly moose. What a rip off. Oh, and the gameplay looked kind of slow.

Oh look its Jetrpg. Spots a few people with concerns in the AoC section - rushes over - doesn't come across as having any interest in a constructive way about the game whatsoever, puts a reply up that looks like the DaVinci Code because I can't decypher it sorry.
Its almost looking like your trying to prove some sort of point?
I can make bits out though. So I'll have a go. But first, are you trying to incite some kind of hatred towards this game in beta with the VG comment?
Calling it BETA is ok because its factual, btw.
Why compare WAR yet again? your excuse for it is lame. 2 different companies who go about making their games in 2 different ways. Its like comparing diet pepsi can to diet coke can and asking which artwork on the can looks better? who gives a shit if they both taste the same when you eventually open the can!!
These ARE the kind of things that get polished through beta. I'm sure as hell they had more important things beside "sliding animations" up until now...which is roughly when this sort of thing will get worked out.
So I don't see the problem complaining about beta footage. I do not think a few graphical glitches count as the game NOT running smooth. I see some here and there but why would I be worried, I've seen the game progress rather well since the new year.
im beginning to think that you only post, because you don't have anything better to do, have no real interest in the game - or - saw it as an opportunity to pick up on negative comments made by others.
when I paint a picture, it looks like crap after 30 mins, one hour goes by it starts taking shape, by 90 minutes I am in no way ready to hang that picture on the wall in my art gallery, the public walk in and watch me paint, do you really think I am totally bothered if they they look at the picture at one hour gone by, and I hear " dam! that looks crap, the tree's are all weird, its a bit iffy" or something along those lines. Or - "The other artist down around the corner would be at the 2 hr stage by now"
Why? because I know that it is not the finished product. But you see the maturity of the public is different to the maturity of posters like the few in this thread - they jump to conclusions at one hour past the painted time. I would rather receive constructive critism later down the road and offer suggestions to the contrary (if needed) because its me who is actually painting the picture. Whats the point of comparing my oil painting to someone elses "grafitti" - different tastes to different people.
See any similarities here?
I would welcome any opportunity to debate how the game is progressing, when people realise "its a work in progress", all the bad points people list are the type of things they work on at this point in time. Yes I do see a few things that need working on, but I like to look at the bigger picture!
A dev might answer you better, but im going to stop now
Becuase im sick of people glazing over reality. Im sick of the fan boys pumping out the misinformation and the blind following for two reasons.
1) YOU HURT THE GAME - i care about the game, not about pretending its gods gift to the world to get more people to buy/play it so we somehow feel better about our own hopes for it. IF you want a good game you have to be critical and you have to talk about real stuff... that vid was trash the combat looks boring and the animations uninspired. I WANT them to be good... so unlike the fanboys im gonna say that looks like trash, this way other people get it and maybe one day the dev.s will get it.
2) THE HYPE - I have seen the hype over and over (i have betaed many games I continue to do so.. and no i have never been banned). Some games look pretty good in beta ... Others are very bad... even if i get in some of the first closed beta rounds the games that play well on release usually play well then. Some game play very bad and get ok by release Shadowbane which ill list here over and over... becuase game co.s can promise many things... that doesn't mean crap tho. They can even put them in game thats not worth jack . All that is worth anythign is if the Dev.s deliver features that are polished, functional, and useful/entertaining.
Why am i so hard on AOC, easy they talk a big game, but have little in means of vids to show for it. Its funny atm i am beta'ing a game i was looking forward too for a long time (ps is one of the bigger ones in limited closed beta atm)... i got in and i was like yes this is going to be great.. Two days later i could tell all of you that game will SUCK nothing but total remake of the game will make it any good. Still i see people hyping it to the max ... THEY are WRONG and they have no clue. (It not my opinion really the game is bad up and down, 0 depth you have done 85% of what you can do in the first 2 days [not a content issue its a character/combat issue]). What does this have to do with AOC simple if beta testers and even the public see junk they suck say , hey look at that junk... FIx it. All i ever see on these boards is excusess and stuff like this .. "well its in beta (so that makes it ok)", yeah bugs are ok in beta lack of content are ok in beta ... the core of combat and game code being broken is bad and not ok [well if in very early beta it can be ok, but 4 months is not a long time].
I guess the real issue is that Funcon is hiding their hand. They have released a small amount of real info about the game (IE SS and Vids), yet the community here trumps AoC up greatly based on what the Dev.s have said.
But just to address you post rq
"I'm sure as hell they had more important things beside "sliding animations" up until now...which is roughly when this sort of thing will get worked out." - you said in a reply to my post - "AXe speed looked fine ps .. the sliding while goofy doesn't make a bad game."
Oh yeah i was being really harsh there I basiclly said that it was goofy but no biggy. Later i said ill believe improvements when i see them.
"Calling it BETA is ok because its factual, btw." - your right But it does not excuses faults and make lag ok or bad animations ok... all it means is you hope they improve... so you should say those suck they should improve them. Instead of its Beta so its ok, (AoC is 100% perfect.)
And your linked vid. was great, no lag almost no glitches .. which shows me that game companies know how to record footage from super machines and take enough takes so its looks literally unreal. But hey that maybe unfiltered video footage, in that case GREAT. But then again thats not the vid from the OP. Oh also, the most attacks in a row i saw was like 6-7 then a cut... can't really get a feel for how battle flows in that much time. But really it sems like many of the problems in the op were fixed, which is great !!
"when I paint a picture, it looks like crap after 30 mins, one hour goes by it starts taking shape, by 90 minutes I am in no way ready to hang that picture on the wall in my art gallery, the public walk in and watch me paint, do you really think I am totally bothered if they they look at the picture at one hour gone by, and I hear " dam! that looks crap, the tree's are all weird, its a bit iffy" or something along those lines. Or - "The other artist down around the corner would be at the 2 hr stage by now" " - I hear you thats why i am wondering why we are not allowed to watch them paint. Once in a while they take a photo edit it and allow us to take a look. What about being commissioned for a painting or sculpture ... even the greatest of artists have left unfinished works or failed ... Your statement eludes that it may look bad now but it WILL look better later... well sometimes it still looks bad later. Not saying AoC will be bad, just that your agrument is a fallacy.
"hey jump to conclusions at one hour past the painted time." - This is a rational statement and not a fallacy, if it takes you about one hour and 10 minutes to finish the painting. and at that time the painting should be starting to look pretty good cuz you only have 10 mintues. Funcom just doesn't have a ton of time left to RE-create AoC its time to finish the polish .. the last details.
Overall i do not disagree with you (i don't think) .. that the funny part i think Aoc will be a good game .. still id rather have it be a great game. And I am kinda worried about some of the aspects of it because well ... it just feels risky ... i do not see enough of the game to claim .. that will be a good game for sure.. they have not released enough unfiltered video for me to make that conclusion (this si true for PoTBS .. but I am not placing as much hope on that game as i am on AoC and WAR ... well war has more unfiltered vids out there then some MMOs that are already released.)
PS. i think i misunderstood thomas .. dam the internet hehe. But yeah TR didn't change in BETA it was killed ... then reborn.

Whoa dude, I didn't run over your dog or anything did I?
I think ya need to re-read my posts before you go off on a fanboi rant and start dry hummpin' Funcom's leg.
First off I never said anything derogatory about Aoc or the video shown here. In fact I am very much looking forward to the game and the video shown looked pretty good to me I did however state that there is not one game I know of that has done a complete overhaul of it's game engine and basic animation mechanics in the later stages of beta! Can you enlighten me and supply me with specific information on a game that has done that? All your long winded post does is give me meaningless quotes from Funcom's devs about how not to jump to conclusions or that game play will smooth out... S0 WHAT!? What else do you expect them to say?
Once again let me state for you (because you seem to have a bit of an issue understanding my point) for the most part, major game titles do not at this point in their development completely overhaul their game engine, i.e. what we see in the sneak peeks of these games is pretty much what we get.
Now, perhaps you don't want to sound like someone with a massive ego talking out their ass (as you so eloquently put it). But you do kinda sound like someone with their head in the sand, refusing to hear anything remotely negative about their game of choice. But "meh" means nothing to me player.
I'm very much looking for this game to rock! Cause if it doesn't I pretty much done with wasting my time with MMO's.
With that said I have to be honest and say the animations in that vid need improvement in a big way. I know it's beta but I played VG beta 4 months before it was released and every fanboi over there was also using the excuse of "it's beta" (currently still is) and I don't think I need to explain what has happened with VG.
The poster above said it correct. Fanboi's really don't help a game out by kissing ass. If anything they can hurt a game by not being honest especially while the game is being built. (once again look at VG) If anything the devs NEED constructivecriticism durring beta! This way they can fix what is wrong.
Looking at AOC forums that was linked earlier; all i see is ass kissing taking place.
Fanboi's just need to get a clue and just learn the shut it. You don't do anyone any good and your not good for the industry. Be realistic about your views and quit trying to dryhump every dev that comes along. Nobody is gonna give you an award for best dryhumping fanboi.
I really do hope this game is what i'm looking for.... Cause I'm tired of the same ole shit!!!

i actually box competitively, wheres the exit for the basement by the way...anyway when aoc fans stop calling war a wow clone i'll stop making fun of aoc terrible animations.
Whoa, lots of boxers and wieghtlifters suddenly play video games. Amazing! Btw, nothing I said was directed towards you, but I know how you mean and tough ol' gamers are always self-centered.But that is very mature of you to come in here from the wowhammer forums and whine.

New game play video? pahleez
WTB Shadowbane 2
The male character has over 2500 animations.

I guess im just sick of ppl expecting 100% from something that has not been completed.

what does my avatar have to do with anything? A little bit of humor never hurt anyone. I have played and enjoyed quite a few mmos for the past 9 years. You are exactly right about 1 thing, if a person were into the lore maybe the game would seem more appealing to them.
Okay, cool...
I think it looks inspired, different, and enjoyable enough as to make it extremely different from other exisiting MMO fare.
So, now that we've established that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, now what?

I guess im just sick of ppl expecting 100% from something that has not been completed.

Here is one sure quote for you: http://forums.ageofconan.com/showthread.php?p=687062 From LordOrion - who is actually the guy who "fraped" the second video posted on the first page.
Worried about the sliding effect we sometimes see in "this work in progress" ? check this post out: http://forums.ageofconan.com/showthread.php?p=553014 or what about this quote: http://forums.ageofconan.com/showthread.php?p=547292 or maybe this one: http://forums.ageofconan.com/showthread.php?p=502979

--- Edit misunderstood thomas but keeping it here because to not would be silly.
I agree with thomas for the most part betas can change games , but rarely does it change how a game works.
old comments of misunderstanding ->
This is just one game co. many do it.

Got any concerns with this one: http://www.gamespot.com/video/927504/6173464/age-of-conan-hyborian-adventures-interview-1 ?
im beginning to think that you only post, because you don't have anything better to do, have no real interest in the game - or - saw it as an opportunity to pick up on negative comments made by others.
when I paint a picture, it looks like crap after 30 mins, one hour goes by it starts taking shape, by 90 minutes I am in no way ready to hang that picture on the wall in my art gallery, the public walk in and watch me paint, do you really think I am totally bothered if they they look at the picture at one hour gone by, and I hear " dam! that looks crap, the tree's are all weird, its a bit iffy" or something along those lines.
A dev might answer you better, but im going to stop now
Amazing ill tell you why i am so critical.

(once again look at VG) If anything the devs NEED constructive criticism durring beta!
