What you need to remember here, and put all ur hate aside for this game, is that this is a NEW COMBAT SYSTEM. For people coming from sandbox games and regular style'd MMO gameplay, this hands on combat system will be new for all of us. More then likely, everything the combat system has to offer will be new..so dont say "We can only pray, that AoC, will show us how a real MMO newbie experience should be! AMIRITE? " Because we will all be "noobs" to this system. Tactics alone will be an issue in teams. Also, when you put in the translation that said, "Your all too stupid, so play our game the way we want you to" or something like that, they really didnt say that, you just inferred it that way.. The games not even out anyway, so stop flaming on a system you never used, or the idea plan that these people came up..because in the end, we might need these 20 lvls to get used to the game. GG flamer

this sounds pretty good to me. think about this would you rather hear a bunch of guys goin how do you do this and that exc, or let everyone figure it out by themself for the first 20 levels? this will allow people to become less dependant on one another and reduce the amount of stupid questions. more time playin than figurin out somthin is pretty much what you get from this. this is a GOOD thing to me. plus some people take 2-3 weeks to get to lvl 20 in most games like i do so its not that big of a deal.
It takes a few hours to get to level 20, you can actually play with other people at like level 10 if you want to. if you are so casual that you are going to lose money off playing for 3 hours, don't play MMOs. Not trying to be mean but you can get to level 40 in less than a week and you get 30 days free. AoC's level 40 is like FFXI's level 15-20. The game is made so you can get your prestige class quick then it takes forever to level. I think you need to do more research before you complain.
Sorry if I sounded like a jerk
The thing I love about this system is that when the game comes out I don't have to worry about there being no creatures to fight because they are all taken. I think it is the best idea!
How many people party at level 1-10 anyway?
Looking for an AoC or TSW Guild? Check out TheDivineMessengers.com, we will be playing on a normal server and accept Xbox 360 & PC members.
Flops? LOL. I'd would like to see a game that is going to show off the new vista and DX10 flop. Micosoft will take care of Funcom for a long time on this one.
Now, if I were a WAR fanboi...I would be worrying more about EA, since they have had countless thing crash and burn...and not even make it onto the list. Ultima XI....Ultima Online 2...Earth and Beyond.....the Sims online (totally bombs).
But I am looking forward to WAR...for different reasons than AoC though.

How long will the single-player experience last? Only the first hour or so of the game is completely single-player. Once you reach the village of Tortage, you will start meeting other players. You can switch between day and night by sleeping at the inn, and during day you will always be with other players, while during the night you will be all alone. At level twenty you leave Tortage island and head for the mainland, and from there on you will always be in a massively multiplayer environment.
Ok, so which one is it:
single player for the first hour
single player with chat/communication for 20 levels
And why should I pay a monthly fee for 20 levels?
Granted, the first 30 days are free, but you'd be surprised how many casuals take months to get to level 20, in most MMO games. And what about family members, or friends, who want to play together? Do they all have to be level 20 first? The Answer is YES, which is AoC's major flaw.
When you first start out, you will be completely alone and the characters around you will only be computer-controlled. They will talk with you, interact with you and fight you but you won't find any other players around. You will, however, be able to send messages and communicate with friends and other players on the server.
Ok, so chatting is our only way to communicate for 20 levels. Why? What's the purpose, we can't interact with anyone physically. That sounds like bad MMO design to me, oh wait, it's not an MMO, it's single-player, right?
Why have you chosen to have a single-player part at the start?
We believe this is a new and better way of introducing MMO players into the gameworld. We felt that many online games out there are too difficult to get into, so we tried to find a new approach.
Translation: You are too stupid and don't deserve a challenge, so play the game our way.
You hear that MMO veterans? You are too stupid to play an MMO. All your past games were too hard to get into, such as:
SWG
EQ2
WoW
LotRO
AC
DAoC
AO
etc
We can only pray, that AoC, will show us how a real MMO newbie experience should be! AMIRITE?
20 levels are probably going to take 2 days, sheesh. I think its clear from above the solo experience is not supposed to take a long time, as you highlighted above where the reason for it is that online games are hard to get into. Given this reasoning by the devs, it seems obvious to me that this intro area is goign to be very fast, especially for experienced players.
The real concern is that after this lvl 20 stuff, there is some challenge. The crap that is coming out these days is like watered down WoW lol.
Any experienced "MMO'er" will be able to breeze through the first 20 lvls, this atleast gives those who are still new to the genre to learn their character, giving them a better chance when they are thrown in with the other, more experienced players, especially in PvP scenerios.
I don't know why I'm bothering, as you obviously haven't done your research, and have failed at understanding what you have read. But here goes: The first 20 levels OF YOUR FIRST CHARACTER are a tutorial. When you first enter, you get a quest. You complete the quest (about 1 hours worth of time GEE THERE"S YOUR 1 HOUR SINGLEPLAYER). WHEN the quest is completed, you can go and sleep at the inn, which enables you to switch from day to night, whenever you want. During the day, you can run around and play WITH THE OTHER NEW PLAYERS (MULTIPLAYER, WHAT A CONCEPT!), during the night you quest by yourself. At level 20, you (AND ALL THOSE OTHER PEOPLE YOU HAVE BEEN PLAYING WITH ON THE NEWB ISLE) get to go to the main game, which is multiplayer night or day. In short, learn more before you start ranting about things you don't know. And if you still don't get it, or don't like the concept, here's a wild thought: DON"T PLAY IT! Normally, I wouldn't be this argumentative, but your post just comes off as a trolling/flaming post, as their are MULTIPLE THREADS right on this site, and the official forums, that explains this concept OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN!! Have a nice day.
I agree, the only thing left for this thread is to get skeeted on...

to me i kinda like the idea of going to an inn and solo lvl, but im a person who likes to group up with players and lvl like that. Other than that i think the other features where cool.

Do you people even read english? Its only for a few hours for the first few levels and they are adding coop to it... instead of a newb isle with a bunch of retards begging, you get to hang with a couple friends, and explore without tons of newbs... THEN ITS ALL MMO...
I just can't seem to get how people can be so willfully ignorant... man.. better close this topic before I get banned again

How will it flop because someone starts out as single-player for a bit?
Most MMO vets are QUITE interested in this opening single-player, since most MMO vets actually enjoy story and lore.... so it won't be a problem for them.
As for new players, this will draw them in... they won't feel overwhelmed at first (which is the case trust me, I have trained many of my roommates in MMORPGs)...

I certainly cannot see where letting me experiment with the new attack styles in privacy for the first couple of hours would be anything but a good thing. 20 levels would have been overkill but 6 levels should just be a evenings play time.
The most common (and stupid response) you will get from fanboys if you critisize ANY game. If it would hold true then only the people who believes the game is perfect should play it and Im pretty sure the devs dont want that.
People need to realize, that you will NOT be charged till after your done our lvl 20 tutorial. Even your free 30 days wont start till you leave that "noob island"
What about when you roll an alt and in order to make his life easier, you give him money. Will that be possible in AoC or will you have to reach level 20 first?
The devs have continuosly said that the reason for the first 5 levels of this is aimed at being more of a tutorial, after level 5 you can switch between night and day to go multi player if you want. I don't see how this is that big of a deal, most games have tutorials....It feels like you're just bashing on a bunch of stuff you really haven't researched at all.

Dear Yamota,
You comment might be true, you see it works both ways, but please consider the fanbois of other games who sole purpose is to jump on a negative post about a game they dislike and add to the nonsense negativity (this thread = prime example). Then consider the that they never had any interest what so ever to begin with, with nothing constructive to say either way. Then consider the other type on fanboy. The type who troll and post in another games forum just for that purpose (Just like the OP admitted to in this thread).
If the game was perfect everyone would play it, because it would appeal to everyone. Conan's IP has been revered for 75 years and is strong. Too many people are concened with whats going on elsewhere instead of sorting there own things out.
So if you really don't like something (like a game) why the hell post bad crap in that area every other day? You have to be messed up in the head to even think like your on some crusade to do so. Hence, if you don't like it, then do everyone a favour and forget about it. Genuine interests bring constructive criticism no "oh well I heard this so I wont play it - its crap already" posts.
