If you can start playing with other players after level 5 if you want I really don't see what the problem is and even if you do choose to stay solo until 20, that's not that unusual.
Take WoW for example... a lot of people didnt start instancing until around level 20, if not later.
The only reason I would ever group up on the lower levels in other games would be to avoid overcrowding problems. If you've got 5 people competing to finish a quest, it only makes sense to group up to finish it, save everyone time and effort.
But if the first levels can be alone, then there is no point to do this, aside from talking.
As I've said in past posts... I think its a great move to eliminate some of the biggest complaints I've had about other mmorpgs. Newbie area overcrowding, spamming, general BS and bad behavior. It gives you time to judge the game based on the game, and not based on the other fools that happen to end up on your server.
What about when you roll an alt and in order to make his life easier, you give him money. Will that be possible in AoC or will you have to reach level 20 first?
As I already stated, FIRST CHARACTER.
After that, you can go straight to the mainland with your other characters.
Not sure why people are still complaining about the first 20 levels being tutorial. There are still another 60 levels to go afterwards. Not to mention, you don't chose your class until level 20 anyway.
i think this will give you a way to get more into the "rpg" element and get into the story instead of rushing to get as high a level as you can as fast as you can like most "mmorpg" games that are out there
