Originally posted by Crestguard I started playing EQ in its release week. I fought in Kelethin before bronze armor was discovered, and when a full set of banded armor made you feel like a king. Back when D'Vinn could instill fear into an entire race. The first year was indeed amazing. Couldn't have asked for anything more. There were no Uber's, there was no true spawn camping (since no one could properly hold anything of value besides the Shiny Brass Shield). As time went on and the expansions came out the game did indeed lose that spark it had. It was still fun and I enjoyed the constant need to upgrade my equipment and hang out in the commonlands to see what was for sale, or journey deep into Kunark and find new dungeons. But then by the time Luclin came out, it seemed like a different game. Porting was a thing of the past and you could hitch a ride without a druid or wizard, and even then, could cross the world in seconds, when back in the past it would take a day of traveling. What really lost it for me, besides the fact that my account was then stolen, was the players. Some players were great, especially those you knew for a long time, but some of them, you still couldn't trust. You'd like to think that you could trust another player you've been with, but it seemed ina virtual world people would do anything. Fortunately it wasn't a friend of mine who ripped me off (at least to my knowledge it wasn't). But I was seeing long term friends stealing items from others and the general population just becoming immature, greedy and annoying. It would be nice to say that this won't happen in EQ2, and we can only hope it doesn't. But I guess as long as you find people in the real world to play the game with you and they will stick with you, then you'll always have someone to play with and the game shouldn't get boring. There is enough thought put in so that theoretically the game should work, and for god's sake I hope it does, because it'd be a shame for such a beautiful game with so much time invested to just flop. Sorry for the insanely long post, just thought I'd throw it out there.
That was beautiful man. Superbly said , and my sentiments ecactly.
