Why is this game so boring?

After leveling a burglar to 43 since release it has become increasingly evident how little this game has to offer. At first glnce the game seems awesome, excellent graphics, lots of quests, lotr lore, integrated voice chat, cool trade system etc. but the more you play it the more you feel it lacks any real depth. First of all there are no player opponents other than in ettenmoors which takes away any atmosphere. Secondly the classes are extremely one dimensional and far less interesting than any other mmorpg i have ever played. Also the trait system is pretty much a time sink with low incentive yay 300 kills for +4 vitality, +2 wis +1 fear resistance or something like that. Dont get me started on how crud the trades are. To top it all off there are so many annoying things in this game which just make you want to kick your screen in. If you fall a small distance you are knocked from your horse and given a slow debuff, you cant search for natural resources while on your horse, there is no way to sort by price on the ah, also with the huge number of people leaving the game everyday, it is is becoming progressively hard to find a group. The game is still riddled with bugs.
So if you have bought this game i feel your pain. If you havent,dont bother it is the biggest waste of money and !!TIME!! (wish i hadnt wasted a large portion of my holidays playing it). If you dont believe me and you realy want to buy it and play it take my account off me ill let it go for retail price plus a little more for the 43 burg with 25g I have on it

One look at the games feature list could tell you why its boring.
Also, playing beta would illustrate the lack of innovation in this title.
P.S. The way the "life-time memberships" were pushed, one could presume it's life would be short.

yes i know i was silly to even purchase it just had to vent my frustration with myself and this game and try to warn others. This is the first rant post I have ever made in any forum ever so that must say something.
Agreed. The LOTR name was used to sell this title that's for sure. On paper the game has nothing to offer in comparison to current MMOs. It is clearly trying to ride on the same substance that made WoW so much money. They are making their money, make no doubts about that.

As soon as I obtained "Undying," I quit lol. Making it to 20 without getting killed was honestly the best thrill I got out of it. It was fun.
well thats the point at first glance it looks like a decent game but take a closer look and you will see how hollow it is. Probably why it got such great reviews. In my mind the worst part of the game is the lack of pvp and the classes are extremely boring/easy to play.
Great game for the super casual or first time MMO player, but ex WOW, EQ/EQ2 etc players will probably die from boredom like I did in about 3-4 weeks.

Why did you have to make a new topic for this? We know you don't like it, post it in some other topic, we don't need a topic of everybody who doesn't like this game. If its boring, you can also stop playing any game like WoW/Lotro/EQ since there all simulair.

how did you know I didnt like the game before I made this post. This is the first post I've written on the game. Also the game is a warning to poor unsuspecting ppl not to bother with the game unless they want to be left with the hollow feeling that they wasted their time and cash. p.s. if you do want to waste your time and cash buy my account for a pittance

And yes, I know a game shoudl attract as many people as possible, but there are way more people who acctualy like this game than hate it!
Well if it takes you that long to see that it can't be that bad can it? I mean if you get to level 43 in two months, you've probably played hours every day, I'll say anything gets boring if you do it that often. (Yes I know there are those kids who play to cap in a couple o days and then whine over endgame and it's boring) I play myself a couple of hours every week and still find it quite good.
Sure the game could be better in many ways but as long MMORPG's go I cannot find many that's better. Why not tell us how a game is supposed to be, instead of the other way around?
i think mmorpg could replace most of the the current LOTRO forum with 2 topics.

This is very well written, however, completely wrong. I stumbled across LOTRO by accident, and I did not have _any_ ideas about it when I started in the beta. Nor did I have any high hopes, since the experience with franchises is usually that they are crap.
I was positively shocked by the quality of the game, and slowly started to love it. The stability and the overall quality is what most of us acknowledge. There was no hype visible to me....
Also, there is no hyperbole as the "I'm bored" posts are only a very few, in a non-representative medium like mmorpg.com, therefore they do not mean horsedoodoo.... just like fanboi posts

what are you talking about? I'm not realy trying to sell my account over mmorpg.com if i were i would leave my contact details just saying that i wont be playing it again. Don't know if thats what you were talking about. Are you kidding or being serious im not sure. and did you mean to type thanks for confessing to being a viral marketer as in im trying to market another game by putting a negative slant on this?
Anyway to everyone else this game has more hype around it than it deserves most people who have played the game more than a few weeks begin to see the cracks. These are my own beliefs but I did make some valid points about the games flaws and no one has commented on them. I'll quickly list some points so we can discuss them and give newcomers a description of some of the negatives which have been publicised far less than the positives
No pvp besides end game and it is completely superficial, the enemies are not even on equal playing field
Decreasing population
Annoying decisions made by devs to throw u off horses after a small fall, to debuff you with slow after fall, no find resources while mounted, no price sort in ah, thrown off horse by birds,
the classes leave a lot to be desired no skill required to play
the virtue trait system is largely a time sink (probably to make the game look like it has more content) with little incentive
the trades are shocking I have never used anything ive made apart from end game weapons and end game rings necks and i mean shocking compared to even wow which was not very good either

WTF? You can PVMP from lvl 10 - there is no "pvp at endgame"....

Some of these are balancing decisions,whether one likes them or not. AH will be fixed/tuned further

So it is entirely optional.... you can have benefit if you DECIDE to grind. No one is forced to!

There are some crafted items (like tough leather armor in T2 tailoring) that are better than dropped/quest gear. Heck, some people are complaining BECAUSE of that...

The main reason they haven't been published is because the positives are so good the negatives aren't seen easely by any normal player.

Even done Monster play as monster? Seems like no would be the answer. Also, yes the monsters are weaker than the heroes, but thats how the world of LotR works, you take 1.000.000 orcs and they still lose to 50.000 horses!

Huh, its only becoming more bizzy everyday, the only difference is that turbine doesn't want all those overfilled servers like on WoW where you sometimes have to wait an hour to enter a crappy laggy server.

If a horse jumps of a 5M cliff it may indeed fal in game and in real life. Also, of course your slower afther you fall, can you still walk at there same speed afther a 10M fall? Be happy, they could also have chosen to deduct health, nbot very usefull when running away isn't it?

They DO requir skill, especialy in fellowships where everybody must know its place, apperently you haven't been in a good fellowship, cuss a good fellowship requirs more thinking than mindless grinding...

Does the game tell you you must use it? No, its just another extra for player who like a little extra. its does at least give grinding another reason than just XP raising.

I'm using my own armour all the time, its cheap yet very good. You just need your skill to be developed a bit more than your lvl requirs.

There are almost no other probs, than prob you create because you don't like the game. If you knwo so many probs why don't you state then? Also, your oppinion does not realy count anyway since your a troll fro only seeing the bad stuff of this game, while there is enough good stuff to be seen. Yes, the game has its problems, but a gome like WoW has then to, the only real difference is that you guys are just so trollish that you only let lotro take account for then.
BTW, not that I think LOTRO is the bestgame or MMOPRG, it still has its problem, but if you look beyond those, which is easy since there not as mayor as all these trolls want to make you believe you see that theres a very solid game worth trying. And if you don't like it then for some reason, fine, at least give it a fair change and do not start whining afther you stopped playing.....its jst a game.

Yeah, but if we didn't post what we didn't like about these games we'd all have the same post counts as the two of you......Nice to see the subject was of enough interest to bring you out of lurk mode.....
The OP has a right to post why he didn't care for the game... he gave it a shot, it didn't work out, and doesn't bother me to read what he thinks about it. I do agree however, that its best to give a game a trial rather than rely on other's opinions about a game, who knows, you just might enjoy it.
(OK, maybe not VG...I should have listened and skipped that one, but LotRO was fun for a few months....)

I agree with all of that.
I found LOTRO quite boring myself and had to uninstall it only 5 hours after first installing it. I kept telling myself I'd find something I liked and would make me want to play.. but never did. It's a shame really. But what is good for some isn't for others. It's the way it is.
