Oh, one more thing, bring outer limits back (new shows) or tales from the darkside and even twilght zone....those were all good series......heck even alfred hitchcock was better than 90% of sci-fi shows today. I wouldn't even mind dead zone (does that still come on?). I never got a chance to see dresdin files or whatever it was called....seen about 30 minutes of the first show but fell to sleep due to being tired from real life things.
I agree with your rant for the most part... I kind of wish Showtime would of kept Stargate SG-1, seems the best episodes were the first 5 seasons, they started to go down hill after they switched to the Sci-Fi Channel which is owned by NBC.... I also liked the original concept of SG-1 where it was going to be more adult orientated with more blood, nudity and action but then they decided to tone it down so they could show it on regular TV
Not to mention the sets seem a lot bigger when the show was on showtime, seems when they switched over to Sci-Fi channel all the towns became small studio sets instead of being shot on location.....
I used to get a Nielsen diary where I would fill out a months programming and then mail it back to them... That was long time ago tho...
IMO, they need to ditch commercials and add product placement within the show, but do it in a way that is not overly obvious, I think the way Atlantis shows Dell's computers is a good example. I thought it was funny when Dell stop paying them, they would put tape over Dell's name on the laptops... I know Smallville did this also with the Ford Focus, when Lois drove up to that guard and he said it was cool car and she started telling him about the features of the car, it was done pretty good so it didn't seem like a sales pitch...
Getting rid of commercials would also add 15 mins to the show
With Tivos and DVR's there's no point to commercials anymore....
Long ago someone made a movie called Stargate starring Kurt Russell, and it was pretty good. Nothing good has ever followed it and I don't miss any of the TV shows nor am I interested in the upcoming MMORPG.... I mean, c'mon, the SG 1 team was lead by McGyver?.... RIP is all I can say.... Now, for a good Sci-FI shows I enjoy Dr Who and Battlestar Galactica....
Drwho in 70 was good even some episodes made in 80's but these days, well for me there crap if compare with sg-1, but ok matter of taste.

BSG series is realy garbage i say 4/10 and SG-1 8-10 and SG-atlantis 6/10 and drwho 7/10 becouse of older episodes and its a very long series decades running now so its hard to give a rating to drwho.

Hmm it aint SG1 but it looks like Atlantis will be under review this year to see if they'll make a "Season 5" or end it with season 4...... What's this mean to us? SG1 is already gone... relegated to "Made for DVD" movies (read: low budget movie, high budget TV show). Atlantis may not be far behind if we, the fans, don't do something about it.....
Atlantis returns to SCI FI in September
The fourth season of Stargate Atlantis will make it U.S. premiere this September, SCI FI Channel announced yesterday.
Amanda Tapping will join the regular cast as the newly promoted Colonel Samantha Carter, as Torri Higginson ("Elizabeth Weir") departs. Firefly's Jewel Staite will also appear as a recurring character throughout Season Four.
With filming on the fourth season wrapping in early October, a decision about the show's renewal for a fifth year must be made quickly by SCI FI. The decision will be based in part on Season Three's ratings performance, but the September premiere means that the network -- should it decide to wait until the fall to make its final decision -- will also get to see the ratings numbers for the first few episodes of the season.
It is the first time in its 10-year history that the Stargate franchise will air new episodes during the busy and competitive fall season.
There is no news yet on whether SCI FI will give fans the first world premiere of Season Four, or if broadcasters in Canada or the U.K. might beat them to the punch again. The fact that the second half of Season Three had aired months before in Canada (and was therefore available online) is widely regarded as one factor in the show's ratings drop in the United States.

I like si fi so i watch atlantis but its not good at all its becomming a saop with storys that have no subtannce at all, SG-1 is by far superior to atlantis.
But luckly they make 2 dvd movies about sg-1 7million cost each.
I dont miss SG-A at all, if they quit with the show i dont care,its just not good its below avarage.

The ratings are actually based on a very very small number of ppl. so as said it doesnt really make a difference asking ppl to watch They're selected to try and get the widest range of Cultures, groups, classes etc and i remember seein on a show the ppl taking part are under contract never to reveal that they are, so as not to have producers bribing them lol - Watched a crap show about 2 guys trying to get their own show on tv - they broke in to the tv commision or wotever and stole the list of ppl with the box's and tried bribing them.... ended up they did get their show on the tv...just it was the footage of them trying to get their show on tv...which was rather odd.....
Neways...Always liked the early SG1 - after the Ori i thought it got crap...too many all powerful indestructible beings that every week got destroyed.... Fightin the Goa'uld(sp) was more believable. Atlantis seems good but never really caught on with me, i wathc if i happen to flick through and find it every now an then
Why atlantis is no good is if they filling show with episodes that looks so fake and cheap that aliens walk with colt guns from old west and look like cowboys, even wraith who walk with cowboy boots OMG:(, and final shootout at end episode a gun fight between sheppard and that terrorist guy who draw gun fastests its rediculous and many episodes are like this its cheap and boring.

If you're saying that Space: Above and Beyond was boring, you're nuts. It had an interesting story, great visual effects, and an outstanding cast. I'll admit, the first two episodes were boring, but after that it was pure gold. I still haven't forgiven Fox for canceling it.
As for SG and SGA... I enjoyed the original movie. I didn't like the SG series, especially that smarmy sarcasm they attempt to lay onto the audience. MacGyver and the character of Vala Mal Doran are the worst at this. Make sarcastic comment. Stare. Wait for laugh. I turn channel.

Atlantis Season 4 is a total mess i mean the main plot seems to be the unborn Child of this Teyla (i don't like here she just do a really poor job for my taste). They forgot the focus on the actual Stargate and exploring New worlds, they traded it for a intergalactic starhunt for a woman -.-.
atlantis is soooo bad now. i watched every episode this season and at the end of each one wondered why i still watch this show. sad thing is i'll tune in and watch next season just because the glory days of SG-1 made me a fan for life lol.

Are you serious? SG1 is a great TV Show. MacGyver aka RDA is way better than Kurt Russel. Stargate SG-1 Rules slim. Now SGA is not so good but you cant say anything about SG-1.
