Most memorable moment in an MMO for you?

FensusFensus Member Posts: 211

Just wondering what you're guy's most memorable moment in any game. For me its either the server resets in UO when you used to beable to run around for an hour or so slaughtering people and causing mayhem with no repercussions. Or the time me and my friend single handedly killed a full group of 8 in daoc Molvik battleground by luring them into the water when we had water breathing pots and they didnt, circled and picked them off like sharks one by one lol.

Intersting, what people think as memorable stuff.

For me it was in Horizons when almost all players in all servers worked togather free new playable race for players. Mostly because it was huge community effort, what I haven't ever seen happen in any other mmorpg.

    Minoc mountains in UO.

I was a Great Lord Master Archer/Master Mage. I was pretty known in that area for keeping the miners safe from PKers. And, one day, I just snapped. Went wacko. Got sick of protecting the miners. Fifteen were there that night. Murdered them all. Report went to town and a hunting party of 4 Adepts (all warriors) came. I was hidden, dispatched them in about 20 seconds. Second, third, fourth and finally the 8 man raid came. All were pwned by me. I killed a total of 28 that night. I ended up becoming a Dread Lord and had a 175,000 gold piece bounty on my head before I finally quit playing.

    Darkside FTW.

I'd have to say mine is when i was play Everquest. I played a gnome - cleric GNOMERCY, and i was about lvl 35+ dont quite remember the level i was but i do know i was higher then level 34. A barbarian warrior was talkin smack in the OOCs down in the zone we were xping in - Lower Guk. Well after trading a few words in the ooc chat we decided to DUEL in the dungeon. ( keep in mind this is before SOE nerfed EQ so u couldnt fear in duels). Well he comes up to the BR (play eq u will know what i mean) and we /d and got to fighting. Well i decided to cast invoke fear because well he was a warrior and i was a cleric. It didnt go through the first time but the second time i casted it went through and he took off. He pulled EVERY FROG in the zone was FREAKING hilarious. Everyone had to run the biggest train was created and so many people died as a result. I couldnt stop laughing for 10 minutes it was so hilarious and if i didnt have divine intervention i would of died too i escaped the zone barely. That was the craziest train i had ever seen in the zone and most hilarious one also.

My second memorable "event" was in EQ. If you played UO, you know when you drink you would belly over and throw up dependent upon how much you drank. Well, first time I tried drinking in EQ I was like level 5. I forgot what town I was in (it was a port town), but I had 7 bottles of ale (not sure what kind) and I just downed them one after another.  I wanted to see what happened. I thought it was so awesome how the screen got fuzzy and wobbly. I started walking down the pier. I was all over the place. Next thing I knew I fell in the pier and aggroed a shark. It proceeded to chomp me to bits.  I died.

In Daoc when the Bonedancer class first came out, went out solo in the low level battlegrounds and got jumped by 2 hibs, after killing them both, more kept popping up, ended up killing 6 in about a minute and barely got away alive.

In Everquest when they had monster play on the test server, playing as an orc shaman in the oasis zone. Had a lot of fun casting dots on people, rooting them when they try to run from creatures, blinding them with flash of light when looting corpses, creating mummy trains, and generally being a nuisance. Whenever I was about to die I'd cast the gate spell to disappear to another part of the zone!

first time i was pked in UO.

getting my first house. and then my first house being looted.

looting my first house. stealing boats and having people recalling onto them and having to fight them :o

lots of good fights, solo and guild vs guild. running around solo as o/c or during factions was alot of fun. fights where my guild was outnumbered are always memorable; i always remember a particular 3 vs 9 in the town where we banked that we managed to win. or a big 10~ vs 10~ by brit bank that seemed to last forever.

alot of memorable moments from shadowbane too, despite its problems. alot of sieges, alot of pking, alot of fights with crazy odds.

In L2 when i 1st started, i was up to lv 7 when some guy PKed me. I dont remeber what i said in general chat but in a few minutes 3 guys came to my aid and pwned the guy. And from then on i joined their clan. W/O those guys i wouldve never played L2 for 2 yrs.

The other has to be in EvE while i was still a noob. A guy from the corp volunteered to take the noobies in the corp from 0.0 training. So i went along. I remember him saying to not warp to moons, so i asked who not. He then told me to warp to a specific moon. Needless to say a POS instapoped my frig. I warped back in a pod and he tells me "thats why you dont warp to moons". I laughed so hard, to this day i find that to be one funniest moments ive had in an MMO. Tough love.

Another was also in EQ. It was my friends Bday and well me and my other friends felt he needed a bday beating. While we were xping in Oasis of Marr one of my higher level friends went to spectre island and pulled them to our area where we were fighting. Needless to say we trained our friend and got him killed like a few steps away from zoning out. Hilarious and he was so pissed he logged off and didnt speak to us for the rest of the day. HAHA and another i got him again on EQ2 as a assassin i was grouped with him and i did a sneak attack on a guard and sneaked out of the battle and the guard went after him and killed him in 2 hits. he put me on ignore and i laughed my ass off for hours. hes is so sensitive.

lol, in UO in the early days i used to poison tons of food then put them in trapped boxes and just lay them on the ground aroudn the bank, and watch people open the box, get shot witha  dart, then eat the food (usually a cake) and get poisoned then die lol

By far while in early days of SWG, scroll on the screen saying there has been a disturbance in the force. We all did not know what to think. It was the first jedi to unlock ....

    Ha! HAHA!  That is awesome.

My favorite memory was in EQ, an in-game wedding.  We had a GM Cleric and a GM Bard do the wedding ceremony.  My entire guild participated in Lake Rathe. It was very cool.  I was drinking a few beers in real-life.  We had a big party.

A close second is, as a Raid Officer, leading my first plane of Hate raid.  I was nervous in real-life. LOL.  I did a lot of research, and I really wanted it to go smoothly.  I was the main tank and raid leader.  I had a lot of help from friends, and it went smoothly and I got a pair of Indo greaves.

My second favorite experience is when I formed my WoW guild, which would become very successful. Edit: The other guild we were in had horrible leadership and everyone was demoralized.  It was the first day of a very successful community.   We had a big party in the human city, Stormwind (is that the name?)  Then we all went to the prison and slaughtered the rioting prisoners.  It was great.

Boycott EA Games. RIP Sim City.

Having a three way turf war in UO. My guild VS the PK's who had just moved in next door to me and the PKs mates who had come along for a laugh. Ended up with my locked inside my house, cowering in a corner, as I seemed to be the main target.

I remember, having foolishly left my house unlocked, literally scrambling for my key as wave after wave of PK attemped to barge his way in (almost wore my REMOVE THYSELF macro out). Knowing that within seconds I could be killed, lose not only all of the items on my corpse but all of the items throughout my entire house created such an adrenelin rush that I was buzzing for hours after.  I soon learnt from my mistakes!

Nothing has ever, or will ever come close to that.

It isnt about me, it is about my brother. My brother is a midly popular gamer named Jipptomilly. But when he first  started playing UO noone ever knew about him. Before Pub 16. way back in the day when a PK was a PK, and when you died you might cry IRL b/c you lost a bad "butt" weapon; My brother was in Shame fighting Blood Elementals and died. with NOONE around to res him he had to run all the way out of the dungeon to find a wandering healer. by the time he got back his corpse had decayed. He recalled to minoc bank ( a fery small bank almost  noone used, and that is why he used it ) he was trying to find armor and a weapon to replace what he had just lost. Sure enough a gentalmen recalled in almost right next to him and started to do some banking of his own. he asked "Did you just die in Shame Lv3?" my brother replayed "yep" he then proceeded to hand my brother about 90 USDs worth of stuff that my brother had just lost. Ever since he calls it his "Jipptomilly Luck" he has a unique ability to just get lucky no matter what the case is.

Morale of this story, I hate my brother.

For me, it was coding up a pve war on a MUD I used to play/code on.  The knights wanted a new castle, so I made them fight goblins, orcs, etc. to clear the land.  The war lasted over several days, 24/7, and they won.  The Bard's Guild wrote an epic poem commemorating the event.  Those were the days - even if it did crash the game at one point.  I still don't think that was my fault....

Anytime the red-haired NPC chick was on the screen during the quest-based cutscenes in FFXI. Mind you I'm usually not smitten at the site of a computer generated woman... but her pixels were in all the right places.

Gonna have to go with GM event in EQ1. I was part of a server event where the GM's were controling the NPC's and acting out a big event (this was the opening of the plane of hate and when Kithicor became cursed). There was a big war going on in several zones around and the champion for each side appeared gathering their player and npc forces to march to high hold, but kithicor was where the fight would happen. I did my best to roleplay and rally people getting into it and enjoying it rather then mocking or begging for loot. In the end alot of us died, had stories to tell and had a grand time and reveled at the change in the world.

A week or so later I was told there was an npc in nektulos talking about the war and the fallen champion, so I came over cuz I loved GM events and the gm recognized my name and made mention I was in the war and such and so on. Ultimatly I was to escort a GM controled NPC through challanges and area's seeking out places npc's and unwraveling a story to recovery the soul of Lanys T'Vyl from hate. I gathered some friends and we all went through the story, the GM's helped with clues but we really felt like they let us drive the story and figure it out. When we completed it, my friends got some artifact rewards and I got a badass shield called The Shield of Hatred which had a unique texture on it (was the bone rib cage) and had regen on it. At the time it was one fo the most badass items on the server (well before Kunark) and I recall being so geeked I couldn't stay in my chair. I was cheering and excited, it was deffinitly the most thrilling event I'd been part of in an MMO and I really felt like the hero of the story.

It's a shame you can't get the same feel from a scripted event that everyone eventually goes through. When it's rare and unique it means more, but that means not everyone gets that feeling. Still my fav event evah :D

Wow, thats a good idea, to have GM's take over npcs for an epic quest, i didnt think they could do that, good job on EQ's part

There are sure many memorial moments.

Meeting my first online friend in SWG, my first MMO, and we where days together questing on the Mark of the Hero, being the first in our big guild to solve it and then helped our guildmates. It was great to become part of a community working togerther.

Also my gay marriage in SWG, something RL still hasnt caught up with yet. ^^()

My first time in PVP battle, SWG too, and my surprise how much I loved beating the snot out of some corrupt Imperials. :D

My first day in Vanguard. I never thought I would see a world simulation where I could see so far into the distance. Was quite a thing to see.

Becoming a Paladin with level 20 with my first EQ2 char. Back then it wasnt for free, you started as warrior and had to proof yourself by trials to be worthy being a Pally. I liked that.
