If you wouldn't assume so much but would actually take a descent look when a new asian mmo comes out. Then you would have noticed that stuff that you can buy in those shops are often only cosmetic (like better looking armor). They are still a big grind most of the time but the cash shop aren't as bad as many people think.
I am not exactly sure what you mean by strictly cosmetic if you can buy better looking armor. Is this simply a pay option to make your current armor look better? I could understand that, but most of the time the item shops sell items which take the fun out of questing and dungeons. Perhaps you know more about these shops, but I am discouraged when others can simply buy items I would have to work for with real money.
Also, would it be so bad if you could buy all the stuff they offer each month for less then 10 dollar?
I would never want to buy items in game. I enjoy the process of obtaining the items via quests and dungeons.
The bottom line is that pay-for item shops take away from my game experience. If this practice was only on some servers I would play, but it is a primary feature.
Perhaps if you explain the shops a bit better I would understand. If they sell even one item that is a weapon or armor I am discouraged. That goes against the way I enjoy playing games.
cosmetic = cosmetic
It means that your character won't be any better in pvp/pve with or without the items
Now, just hypothetical
If you would need some items to enjoy the game better, for example a mount
Will it be different if you pay 10 dollars each month for wow/eq1/eve or pay 10 dollar and receive all the cash items --> a mount?
Remember this was hypothetical and has nothing to do with SotnW
That sounded like the best game out now then i saw the word item shop. lol
Now read the rest of the thread. Item shop sells COSMETIC items.
Untill one isnt a grind or like any of the above, i will still stay far away from any game that is free and compensates for this by having a item shop no matter what it sells.
Aslong as you stay away and don't try, you won't find
If i wait a month, if people are complaining about the amount of grinding and only that then i know i was right lol
Sure they could be lying, but if everyone said the sky was blue, and 1 person said it was green, would you believe that one person or the masses
I would try looking out the window myself but I surely wouldn't tell anyone the sky is green until I have seen it myself

I am not sure about your hypothetical situation, but I'll take a stab at it.
There is a vast difference between paying 15 dollars a month for World of Warcraft and spending 15 dollars on in-game items. Although I can understand your idea that it is similar I find that spending money for items rather than content and services seems to end with a less capable service team and game. Why?
Well, World of Warcraft charges almost everyone around 15 dollars a month. That means that every month WoW has 15 bucks to spread out over servers, content, salaries of devs, etc etc etc. This, in my opinion, produces a better game.
Now, that doesn't mean the game isn't fun and people won't enjoy it. It just means that I am extra skeptical about it, and I'm almost 100% positive that games that offer items for cash will eventually allow players to buy items that do increase their abilities.

LOL
Where do you think the money for the items goes too?
why would they spend 15 dollars for wow on development and the 15 dollars for the items not on development?
Yes of course, some of the money goes to share holders (profit) but that is the same with wow/eq/eve
I would like to thank you Zorvan for posting the links, from your links I was able to find the English patch, so much easier now I can understand the interface and such. For anyone thinking of trying this, I would give it a go, character creation is really amazing and in depth, I was expecting something far far more basic, but there are dozens of sliders to choose from. Anyway download it and give it a shot, either you'll like it or you won't.

P.S The English patch works perfect ! Thanks again !
i've never seen zorvan be a fanboy about any game, so i'm gunna trust him that this is a good game. when the us servers are ready, i'll be more than happy to give it a try.
One more thing I've just found out by reading the nice little help box that comes up when you first die.
Apparently, at level 30, you are able to PK. And yes, you can lose items. however, you don't lose XP if you die to another player. Seems to be set randomly in regards to if you drop something or not.
I can say that I have been around some very high level people and haven't been ganked, so either they're all extremely nice, or there are anti-griefing measures.
Well, I'm at level 14 now, so 16 more before I start watching what I carry.
Well, thanks to Aquakitty, we now know the engish forums for the upcoming Malysian english server are now online. She has also posted instructions on how to get the Chinese version with 100% patch setup so you guys can get playing here: http://mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/139531 . She seems to have explained it alot better than I could have.

Open PvP? I'm in.
Where can I get a better download? I'm not very interested in downloading 9 parts of a client.
EDIT:
Ah... Torrents. That's more what I'm used to. Only 7 seeds though -_-
