oh by the way, thats an Asian MMO, so it gives the finger to the asian mmo stereotype.
It's still going to be a grinder. :P
Depends what you consider a grinder. The game is avaible in other languages, and people who played it already confirmed that the game is based heavily on questing.
All the detail is on the face. The changes you can make to the body itself is very minimal and you cannot change the height at all. If you are gonna spend that much time on your character custimization you'd think they'd go the distance with it. Still it's a step in the right direction.
I hear foreign IP's are blocked, funny thing is over in SA they aren't when we'd get a chance to hit a cafe and it looks good guys.
They have mainly quests in place of traditional grinders, this game is a unique one for the typical asian grinder, I hope it does come here and does well, because like RO inspired much of the grinders we see today, maybe PW can inspire a quest based customization genre for them.
Err with green skin and variable heights CoH/CoV is still more custom than this game~ by far, but its nice that people that play those games wont have to be stuck with one of the 3 preset faces
I still think that City of Heroes has an overall better customization system than Perfect World does. Like many have said, it is all in the face, which is nice, but they didn't even try to make the body as a whole customizable.
Plus that music is just awful. I wouldn't want to go through the customization options with that crap in the background.
well all MMORPGs have grind atm (Except guild wars but its really CORPG). well correct me if im wrong but all modern day MMOs so far ive played have the sinks
now what i look for- can I compete in the MMO if im low level? If its level based that usually crosses that out
city of heroes had a decent solution. the high lvls got 'dropped down' to Level 30 at siren's making the PVP a little interesting. game was fun for a bit but much better for the PVE portion if you into it
btw, you still play Archl;ord? this is not a personal attack but you seem to appreciate the Asian MMOs I find that interesting about you. I like to at least try them out as well
I probably agree. Customization might be considered a gimmick in some minds, as a game can have fantastic customization but still fall short in the gameplay...which you know...is pretty important.

FYI Perfect World has:
- more than 5000 quests
- huge open seamless world (with no zones chunking), populated on the ground, in the air and in the water
- flying mounts and flying combat
- territorial ownerships with territorial battles, player houses/estates & cities, guild estates (on the ground but also on floating islands in the airs)
- great graphics with world particle effects (animated water foam on the coasts (http://www.w2i.com.cn/jietu/images/17.jpg), rainbows, birds, night&day system with weather effects,..)
America, United Kingdom and more: Coming 2007/2008
Edit: you can play today on the Malaysian (closed beta but free to register) servers with the English patch (check the above wiki or the Perfect World Forum here).
In response to just the customization bit, I dunno. What I like about CoX is how you're able to customize your entire character to the point where someone can recognise you when you're standing 2 blocks away. Being able to finely adjust your face is all well and good, but I haven't seen anything to rival CoX's ability to make a truly unique entire character with vastly different features and body shapes.
Having half a million hairstyles and eyebrows doesn't really hold that much weight with me. I enjoy being able to choose drastically different legs, bodily proportions, any colour I want anywhere I want, and so on.
I'm not trying to bash PW's customization here, it does look heaps better than most eastern mmo's, just that CoX still wins in my book just for the ability to change pretty much whatever you want.
oh by the way, thats an Asian MMO, so it gives the finger to the asian mmo stereotype.
Lol, you call that customization?
The curse of sliders: Myriads of options, but in the end, all chars look the same anyway (unless you spend ten minutes in extreme zoom-in to spot the different Lip angles )
You won't spot any difference apart from different Hairstyle/Colour and maybe Eye Makeup in normal playing, so that is absolutely useless Customization. (Besides of that, the Customization Menu is horrible. 3 eye styles only without scrolling? Guild Wars had the best Customization UI I've seen so far. Instantly presents all the Options you have without any scrolling, and when you change for example the Skin Colour, the little Images for Hairstyles all have the altered Skin colour as well)

A) No, any game which only lets you fiddle with the face and only in minor ways is not going to take any crowns for customization.
What's extra-sad is the character-model looks GODAWFUL, a terrible low-poly thing with a chest that appears to at precisely 45 degrees and possibly made of sheet metal.
I hate to say this, because it disgusts me, but in this case, the customization really does seem to "polishing a turd". No matter how much you fiddle with the bimbo's face, her body is still going to look idiotic. Not to mention that despite all the options, the dead expression on her face makes her look personality-free and like she has an IQ of about 70. Just the way some gamers like to think of women, I'm sure, but, really... yuck.

Ahh that Chinese game. I heard it was huge. And of course it won't follow the regular so called "asian Grinder" rules since it isn't a korean game.

That is pretty impressive. But you still cant make fat chicks or flat chicks. Still stuck with the atheletic body that is ubiquitos in fantasy games.

I haven't played the game yet but those videos were great fun to watch! Thanks!
Customization is about 10% of the game to me.

It's very impressive -- SWG customization 2.0
That is some very impressive stuff IMO. I may give this one a shot if they ever release that English version.
