I still don't see why I was excluded from the deal. Never registered an EQ2 key or subscribed all I did was plat the trial of the isle. I also quit after the first month of Vanguard.
...did you ever stop to think that maybe that is why you're not included!?!?! Its for past EQ2 subscribers.

I just got an email saying the following: "thanks for playing Vanguard....SOE would like to offer you a FREE copy of EQ2 including the first 3 expansions and first 3 adventure packs...and play for free until 11:59PM September 15th 2007" Official from Sony, so its legit. Also said my account was already flagged with this offer, so it appears no credit card or activation is required. I quit Vanguard shortly after the first 30 days, not sure if this offer applies to all former Vanguard players.
if thats a offical letter does that mean that vanguard is over and they are just like saying hmm sorry here play this for free

Well they are trying to retain customers. It makes sense as EQ2 had a rough start but has been improving over the years, and Vanguard has a beyond rough start. If they can get some Vanguard people hooked on EQ2 they salvage some subscribers, who knows maybe they are planning a huge revamp of Vanguard. One thing it does say, they realize that most won't pay to play Vanguard at its current state.
I bought the collectors edition of Vanguard, and I played it for a good 3+ months until I could take the dev team's BS no more. I have fond memories of EQ2 (I bought the Kingdom of Sky game+xpac bundle) and would happily consider returning if I was given all the expansions and a couple months free.
However, I haven't gotten any email or letter yet. Is the promo only for people who played vanguard but haven't ever played EQ2? I would think it would be cheaper to include those people too seeing as they already bought some of the game.
I mean, it's not like they're gonna ever get me to go back to Vanguard, if they want my money they could atleast entice me a little.

Well, it doesn't really say that but the implication could be drawn. The same idea occured to me.
Think of it like this, when SoE bought out Sigil they bought the assets that come with it. Most times that would be the product, being Vanguard. However Vanguard is in direct competition wiht an existing SoE asset, EQ2. In this case the real targeted asset may be the player base.
If I was making the desicions I would want to know is it more cost effective for me to fix Vanguard to retain the subs or steer them toward EQ2. I don't know the answer to that but I'd be willing to bet the question has been raised internally at SoE.

I too bought the collectors edition of Vanguard :S and the Collectors Everquest 2 and played both for several months and havnt gotten invited but from this letter http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x10/fookerss/EQ2_promo_3.jpg the promotion is only for players who have played both Everquest 2 and Vangaurd and had subbed to them so i think me and you will get invited sooner or later but in 30 mins the live chat should finally be up and ill go get some answers.. and let ya know.
I have played VG for 2 months (Bought the retail) but i didnt receive any mail yet.I checked the account and im not flagged for anything ;> ...maybe because i didnt try EQ II with the same account?
Well i checked my account finally and no luck, looks like they are only providing the 3 months for people that bought Vanguard. Thats ok, I can play hard to get SOE...*shows some leg*
Well I purchased the retail Vanguard, and have just checked my EQ2 status:
Account Status:

Orig. Purchase Date:

So far no email for me, and my account has not been extended till Sept. I wonder what the real deal is
Thanks I really appreciate you goin on and checking with the support people. I'm sure many of us would love to know what the details are, and get official word from some SOE reps. (Even if they are just chat support monkeys )

TSR Mario N: Regretfully if the promotion was not added to your account that may mean you were not eligible, one moment let me see what I can do.
Ok i found out that its because i didnt click a little tickbox named "Recieve promotions for this product" when i first created my Everquest 2 account but that for me dosnt explain how people who have never played this game got the promotion :S
All i got was a kick in the nuts telling me that i needed to tick this promotional acceptance box before the promotion came out and then they offered me 7 days free of everquest 2 so i took it. Sigh

Just to reiterate a point I made in a prior post:
I NEVER had an EQ or EQ2 subscription on the account the email was sent to.
Played Vanguard from beta through 3 months of release.
Never played EQ2.
Currently downloading the latter, and I have a sub through 9/15 courtesy of SOE.
Ok im on the live chat to them at the moment this is what i was told first

i got it but i didnt recieve an email, not that that matters thanks for the post cuz now im updating tgo play eq2
Launchpad has been downloading for about 18 hours now. Still like 4 hours left on the download, I'm guessing it may be done tomorrow if I'm lucky.
All i got was a kick in the nuts telling me that i needed to tick this promotional acceptance box before the promotion came out and then they offered me 7 days free of everquest 2 so i took it. Sigh
another screwup by SOE
