Well after 8 hours of patching, I logged in to find I do not have access to any of the expansions or adv. packs. Dunno if this is a mistake or intended. Makes me a sad panda too, cause now I can't experience all the rest of the new awesome stuff like everyone else.

Well i go to start it up and i get passed the login screen so i must have a subscription. I check the my account page to find that i have all the expansions and all the adventure packs now and my subscription lasts until September 15! Thanks for letting me know since SOE apparently didn't let me know.

You might want to check your account info to see if your email address is current.

Did you check the boxes on the login screen to download ALL files for ALL expansions?

Not sure if I missed it anywhere in the past posts...but you get a few months free, the latest adv packs and EoF...does that mean at the end of the free time you have to pay for the extra packs and EoF?

    Thanks in advance!

I got a postcard in the mail today to play EQ2 for free. Was a pretty nice surprise and I'm currently updating the game as I type this. Had picked up the Anniversary edition of EQ1 and looking forward to playing EQ2 again now that I have updated my PC in recent months.

First thing that came to mind was that this might be some sort of a apology for playing or suffering through Vanguard (I did pick it up and while it wasn't as bad as many say, it still is disappointing. I took the hit price wise and even then I got it kinda cheap anyway due to ordering online and having a gift card option I won. So I didn't lose to much on it. Same with EQ1, didn't cost that much and for all of the versions of the game it was a good buy all the same even if I only play the free month and come back to it later.

Now to decide which server to play on again. Which one is the most populated?

Got it as well... my status (for those keeping track of who or why people are getting this offer)

    1.  Played Vanguard 3 months then cancelled.

    2.  Never Played EQ2 (But I did play the Trial long, long time ago)

I did receive the postcard because my EMAIL was old.  That was pretty kewl of SOE to track me down by snail mail to make sure I got the offer.  Its been a hella long download though... so prepare yourself.

    Respectfully,

No disrespect intended, but ensure on the patcher you have all the items clicked under "Preferences" see if they are there and if they download.  Just an idea.

  • It feels like a bad joke, they keep saying different things everytime(soe support) and im pretty disgusted with their treatment. If its random why cant they just say so? Instead of lying to me. And they dont agree with that people who have played Vanguard for one month(the free one) deserves it less than people who have played soe games for years. Well maybe you dont agree aswell, and thats a damn shame. Oh better put this behind me, its taking to much of my energy. I do enjoy many of soe games, but with this little incident, and that im not good enough for their promotion offers have left a foul taste in my mouth as what soe is concerned.(bad english). I hope im not the only one :)

heh , it is SOE. If it makes you feel better I beta tested the game and subscribed until last November and never received one either. Our guild still has a few active members left in the game and I was curious about the new area and also to see how it ran on my new vid card but screw em, I enjoy LoTRO more anyway.

What about people who play EQII and never played Vanguard. All they get is diddly-squat. What a great way to reward existing customers. I didn't mind Sony before this, but it seems they like to jerk their customer base around.

Oh so this was only for people who purchased Vanguard, in that case I don't qualify. However  I do have to wonder why SOE would be trying to steer customers over to EQII unless they plan on shutting down Vanguard. Does not make a lot of sense, unless they just feel guilty about selling Vanguard  to people.

Though I do have a couple of questions now that I've been away from it for so long.  I noticed on some characters you have the choice of starting in one of two places.  Example Dark Elves can start in Freeport or Neriak and the High Elves can start in Qeynos or Kelethin.  If I were to start the game as a High Elf in Qeynos (like when the game originally came out), am I going to completing quest and stories I couldn't do if I started in Kelethin?  Are there drawbacks to starting in one area and not another?  Just curious to find out.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Good to see you're enjoying yourself.  Wish I would have waited a bit after I canceled my VG subscription before I resubscribed to EQ2...3 free months would have been nice.

As far as your starting cities, they each have their own quests.  My personal opinion is that the starting quests in Kelethin and Neriak are more entertaining...but that could be because I had played several characters to the 20s in Qeynos and Freeport.

Their target audiences seems to be, from what I can tell, old EQ2 players who moved to Vanguard and Vanguard Players who never played EQ2.  So they seem to be trying to reduce the "leaking" of players from Vanguard to other games.  But not sure if they are after the Vanguard players that did not last past the first 30 days.

This also leads me to believe that the players leaving Vanguard are growing, but thats just a guess.

So because people wasted money  on Vanguard they get all 3 expansions and all 3 adventure packs free and get to play free to Sept...

Well thats nice, while someone like me who has bought all 3 exp packs, 2 of the adventure packs and been subscribing on and off since the game went live, doesn't get there account reactivated and free still sept.

I most have spent a good 250 dollars on EQ2 since release and people who spent 40 or so dollar on Vanguard get all of the exp and adventure packs for free and free time.

Wish I had bought a copy of Vanguard now would have saved me money.

I spent $100 on the CE of Vanguard and paid for 3 Months...so I'm quite happy with the offer.

i contacted them like 5 times so far and keep getting told theres nothing we can do and  like i said erlier ive previously subbed to vanguard, everquest 2 and star wars galaxies ! so why arent i entitled to it !

I have emailed them now and i hope they reply asap or im going to have something to say about it. Huh got a reply saying its only avaliable to people who opted to recieve promotions so he linked me to the page and i checked and oh look all the promotions were opted for just waiting for another response now.

  • Same thing with me aween, they are just sorry, cant help, sorry cant bla bla bla bla bla bla.
  • tenpigstenpigs Member UncommonPosts: 68

I certainly didnt get it. I might try it again...

I played beta and bought the game and ditched it.

  • I've had my soe account since early 2004 i think.
Started with SWG, then EQ2, tested the MO trial, and Vanguard.

Both SWG and EQ2 i have been playing on and off for some time. My vanguard account ended 8 April(played in the last beta aswell). Only tested the trial to MO.

    And i haven't got this offer :(
Maybe its because i live in Europa?

Official from Sony, so its legit. Also said my account was already flagged with this offer, so it appears no credit card or activation is required.
I quit Vanguard shortly after the first 30 days, not sure if this offer applies to all former Vanguard players.

Thats a very smart choice done by SOE, after the Vanguard fiasco. They cant affort to lose that player base, so why not getting them hook up in EQ-2 which is a decent product.
