Starship Troopers.....2?

Just thought I would share this with any of you Starship Trooper fans.  Starship Troopers 2: Hero of the Federation comes out on June 2 on DVD (straight to DVD).  Doesn't look too bad...here is the link

    Whew, that's funny. Guess will have to see how it turns out... But being on this topic, anyone else see the preview for a Starship Troopers game in PC Gamer earlier this year? It was like sometime around January I think, but the pictures looked real nice and what they had to say about it was interesting.

    i have the movie here(Suddenly was on my pc, dont know how it got here, some hacker perhaps) i think ill watch it today and tell you what i think about it .. i loved the first movie, but then again, i was 12/13 when i watched that

    The movie is really really bad. Basically they had almost no budget, repeated scenes from teh original for special affects, and the actors are beyone third rate. Funny as hell if you're with a group of friends, but a really bad film if you want to watch/enjoy it.

    I saw it on Encore a few weeks ago. It is just BAD. Oh GOD. The guns fire little light beams that could have been made of any 50 dollar movie special effects computer software. The bugs looked sooo fake. Lets just say that the CG ones 7 years ago looked twice as good. They are also cleary on a green wall when they fight the bugs. Sooo cheesy.

    That's a shame because i really like the first (not many people did but i liked it a lot when i first saw the movie in the bios). Now i know i don't have to spend money on the second perhaps rent it when i wanna see a bad movie with a group of friends to have a laugh.

    Such a shame that they did a bad job.

    I was always under the impression that when something went "straight to VHS or DVD" it was because it wouldn't hold up in Theaters.... Ie. It's crap.

    Has anyone seen the VHS version of 2? Is it crap compared to the 1st?

    Yeah i remember that one...looked really good, but never heard much of it again.
    Latest news on the official page are from january and show "early" screenshots... ::::29::

    It's a shame when people let a great movie title get trampled on with an aweful sequel just to make some money.

    Ever notice how almost all Disney movies have a DVD/VHS sequel?

    The movie doesn't have terrible graphics for a budget of $52.63 The aliens are still done well.. Electricity in the fenses is pretty impressive.. The only real problem I had with the FX were the total lack of ANY believablity in the guns.. It looked like the just had big flash lights.. There was NO recoil, there was NO gun flare...(well I guess there was if you call a small light goin off in the mussel "flare") There was no stream of light exiting the gun ... You would just here noises and see aliens dieing.. I'm still wondering how they died..

    But besides that.. I LOVE Starship Troopers, LOVE Starship Troopers: RoughNecks, so by default i kinda like Starship Troopers 2....

    well you know their was a i think computer animated show based on starship troopers.. was on upn i think and it was SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEETTTTT!!!! it was called the roughnecks i think and it was realllly cool... good animation and overall was action packed and i kinda liked it better then the movie!!!!! and i love the movie!!!!! it was really cool belive me.. just dunno wehr the show went....*sigh*image

    I'd rather re-read the book even though it gets rather jingoistic in it's glorification of war and the immortal warrior. For books that take a less gung ho attitude about 'immortal warriors', read some of the following:

    Yeah the original book had a completely different meaning and story.
    ( Pilot Carmen Ibanez had a shaved head and only met Johnny Rico for a dinner, Rico's father joins the Army etc.)
    So the final movie (ST1), though it's cool, has nothing do to with the book it's based upon.

    The Haldeman books are nice to read, too. ::::02::

    It was also written in the 50s. Its amazing how many technological predictions that were correct are in the book.

    Yea I just saw the preview on my t.v. now. I thougbt starship troopers 1 was awesome but sadly i do not think this will do as well but i will still watch it. Hopefully it will be cool. Anyways back to watching t.v. ::::35::

    i kinda wanted to see the second starship troopers movie, but since you all say it sucks i guss im in no hurry. I remeber that CG TV show of starship troopers that came on, i used to watch it on the scifi channel, it used to come on right before i went to school every morning a few years ago it was sweet though i dont think they ever finished it, last part i remeber was when the bugs arrived on earth and stuff.

    Iv been watching that starship troopers game thats comming out soon hopfully it wont get canceled because it looked very sweet (got my finger on the bittorrent button). I have that starship troopers terran accendery squad base game which i though was fun, though the ending was pretty half ass...

    Starships troopers 2 was so good it went straight to video. Only the best movies do that.

    Does anyone know if they will be basing the book off of the movie or the book?
