If AoC is truly going to be DX10 only that is gonna hurt this company just cause alot of people are not gonna fork out the what 300+ for vista just to play a game I personally think they should rethink that whole strategy you cant force people to just into the future "Vista" alot of companys are not even compatible with vista yet I know I had vista installed till some of my expensive software wouldnt work for it.

I have Vista at home and I wont install it tell they work out all the bugs with that being said I would have to agree with the OP post I wont play it unless its XP or they fix Vista this is sad to because I really wanted to play AoC.
And yet one more person who goes off the rails ranting and raving about things they obviously haven't researched. AoC supports BOTH DX9 and DX10.
thats great cause I wont run Vista tell they get it running right
AoC will support both DX9 and 10 , supporting only 10 would be a foolish suicide and no company is about to do that yet.

Heh, i won't run Vista at all. Vienna is slated for 2009, I'll wait 'til then. Only way I'll look at Vista will be after SP2 and a huge price decrease. Even then, I doubt I'll get it.

Give the guy a break - some people don't get the whole DX9 VS DX10 thing - it was a fair concern by the OP.

DX10 is not for VISTA only, they are making a DX10 version for XP but its not gonna be release for a while. might be out for AOC.

Normally, I'd agree. But we've already got how many threads about this issue that he could have perused before making a new one?
Which is the main reason I dont have vista at all on my rig. Vista is soo buggy, and XP professional is still the most stable Operating system available today. It would suck if AOC goes into dx10 exclusive route.
Dont say that Vista is crap, I'm using it for 3 months and i have no bugs and its stable.

AoC is not DX10 only. Where'd you get such a lamebrain idea? In fact most if not all of the movies we've seen have been DX9. Go to the site, or use By Mitra and educate yourself before your brain implodes from the vacuum between your ears.
pretty soon, you will have "NO CHOICE" but to use vista, but till then :P yah it proll will hurt sales.
I've used Vista. It's crap. It's buggy. It's bloated. Half the stuff I need to run on my computer for work is problematic alone. I have an SLI setup...it wouldn't work on Vista no matter what I, nor NVidia did. Don't believe me, check this out.
"As it turned out, Nvidia/ATi were not the only guilty parties in the whole case, but Windows Vista was implicated, too. Microsoft just posted an update for both 32- and 64-bit versions, fixing issues where operating system would not pass instructions for the 2nd GPU to the driver, meaning SLI/CrossFire would effectively work as a single chip cards.
So, Nvidia and AMD could have done whatever they liked, and their 2GPU systems would just not work. If you're running SLI or CrossFire system and Windows Vista, you should not think twice about this one… Windows Vista, a delayed operating system nightmares are created of."
I took this directly from here: www.theinquirer.net/default.aspx
btw...make sure you note the date on that particular article. Yes, that is July 20, 2007; Today's date.
Yeah, how long has Vista been out and they are just now getting to the point that SLI and Crossfire will start to work? Vista isn't ready. Yes, some people haven't had any problems with it. Doesn't mean there aren't problems.
As for the DX9 and DX10 issue, any MMO developer that only releases a DX10 client is shooting themselves in the foot. Right now, it's stupid. There are still far more Windows XP installations than there are Windows Vista installations. To cut out those XP users would be cutting out a major chunk of their potential market. I never upgrade to the newest MS OS until after SP1 has been released. Far too many problems.

That made me laugh real hard!!! Nice joke

I found that quite hilarious as well actually. It should have been stated like this actually. That made me laugh real hard!!! Nice joke
"Vista is soo buggy, and XP Professional is still the most stable Microsoft Provided Operating system available today."
so will aoc only run on vista or will it be xp compatible?
Yes it makes total sense (CHUCKLES) all games now will ONLY run on VISTA.... lalalalalalalalal...la.la LA
cya .....
I have run vista for sometime and never had any issues at all. .games run fine.. drivers work fine.. the only issue i had once was that for soem reason it thought it was not a legit copy..
as for DX10 there is a company out there working to make DX10 work on XP not sure how long it will take them tho...
Sorry but 2000 Professional is the most stable WINDOWS operating system available today. MAC has the most stable OS available today, it never goes down. I am not a MAC guy at all but lets be real.Which is the main reason I dont have vista at all on my rig. I will not buy or install Vista until SP1 or better.
Sooner or Later
LOL you people complaining about how bad Vista is...
I've been using it for months and have NO problems at all. Even old games run on it. Go ahead and live under a rock but stop spreading false information because some Unix slut tells you Vista doesn't work.
Now to be honest, I did disable the stupid UAC control so it wouldn't ask me everytime I wanted to do something if I wanted to do it or not. That's the only thing I didn't like.

Historicaly Speaking, Don't hold your breath. It took 2 years to get DX9 made for WIndowsME and 98. I haven't seen any NEWS with a release date for when they'll be making the watered down version for XP.
