Sorry but we have it at work on a test machine and we cannot install half of our programs we use on a daily bases. Which means that it is not worth buying until they fix it. I work for graphic design company and we will not be buying Vista anytime soon. We run XP Pro on most of the PCs and we have about a dozen MACs for our design team. So I do know what I am talking about, considering it is my job to keep the computer systems up and running. I dont live under a rock or use Unix.

You're full of crap. I'm a graphics designer myself and I have nearly all the tools of the trade loaded on this machine, as a matter of fact I'm working right now. Never had a single problem with any one of them. Maybe the people at your company, including you, need to learn how to use computers.
As far as it being slower, I have yet to see that proof. Seems to run perfectly for me, in fact, my framerate is higher using Vista for WoW than it was using XP. Explain that.

You seem a bit immature. I'm not impling that everyone should use Vista. I like it because its a lot more secure then W2KPro, and XP. If your looking for just plain speed, right now XP is it. I don't look for that. I don't have a turd of a PC, Vista runs flawlessly, I've has it for about 8 months without a crash, or a hiccup. I'm very happy with Vista at its current state. People like yourself bashing it, without having ever used it, just seems stupid. Yes I know your about to say you've used it, along with EVERY other person that bashes it. The guy says it might be out for AoC which is in October - there is no way that will happen. Additionally, MS knows DX10 is a key for Vista doption and they have said no DX 10 on XP. I don't care if some group is claiming they are going to port it or not - MS can and probably will shut them down before they ever release to protect Vista (if not through legal action then through a patch to XP). Will it never happen - who knows - but making the statement that it is coming and might be here by the time AoC hits is as false as false gets. As for the other thread - you are the one who looks stupid reciting marketing claims in the face of real world tests showing the opposite.
I didn't say it would be out by Oct. IN FACT earlier in this post, I stated "DON'T HOLD YOUR BREATH" waiting for XP to support DX10. Microsoft also stated that WIndows 98 and WindowsME would not be supporting DX9, but they do .... NOW. Just like how DX9 isn't 100% on the older OS's, I doubt very much DX10 will be 100% on XP, but Eventually there will be DX10 on XP. IF you don't believe me, take 10 bucks and stick it in a shoe box, and in 2 years we'll see if you should send yours to me, or I'll send mine to you.

There's no real way other than re-writing the OS for it to support DX10. Windows XP will never really support true DirectX10. There's obviously some ways around a game that's supposedly only able to run with a DirectX10 OS. A good example is Halo 2 where the is some legal code that will allow the XP users to play single player Halo 2 and not multiplayer because of the way the multiplayer code is written, it can't be done. Single player Halo 2 will run with DX9 graphics legally.

Heh, i won't run Vista at all. Vienna is slated for 2009, I'll wait 'til then. Only way I'll look at Vista will be after SP2 and a huge price decrease. Even then, I doubt I'll get it.

I have had no issues with any MMO I'm playing atm or with any other software ect ect.
Vista is awesome, but it does hog alot of RAM so I made sure I had at least 4 gigs of Ram..Running Flawless.

Actualy your wrong. There are "Vista ONLY" games being played on XP right now. There currently are no games Released that are DX10. Crysis, and AoC will most likely be the first. Yes, the Games for Vista, can be hacked very easily, like shadowrun which is DX9 not DX10.

THEY are making DX10 for XP. He never said who, but once such group is called Falling Leaf. BUT IT's NOT going to be released for a while. THIS DOESN'T say OCTOBER.
YOU CALIMED THIS WAS FALSE.... NOTHING In his statement is False. Theres already beta versions WORKING making DX10 on XP. It's not the holy grail of hacks. It's buggy, and not well supported because it's a HACK.

There ya go... The second one is from the horses mouth. If you read back in this thread you'll notice my skeptisism about this, because they said the same thing about DX9 and WIndows 98/ME, however they eventualy did support them.
I'm running Vista and wondered why I have not switched to it sooner!Heh, i won't run Vista at all. Vienna is slated for 2009, I'll wait 'til then. Only way I'll look at Vista will be after SP2 and a huge price decrease. Even then, I doubt I'll get it.
I have had no issues with any MMO I'm playing atm or with any other software ect ect.
Vista is awesome, but it does hog alot of RAM so I made sure I had at least 4 gigs of Ram..Running Flawless.

Actualy your wrong. There are "Vista ONLY" games being played on XP right now. There currently are no games Released that are DX10. Crysis, and AoC will most likely be the first. Yes, the Games for Vista, can be hacked very easily, like shadowrun which is DX9 not DX10.
