voting on this site is a joke.
I have to agree with Asmith84... the charts on this site are absolutely not representative. These forums are full of people who hate wow with a passion, hence the 19th place. Yet, the game has the most subscribers of any mmo out there.
Lol, even auto assault gets a whopping 8.1 here while AU is shutting down next month. Not to mention all the free games who are sharing top positions in those list.
It's a joke.
Originally this site was to be named MMORPG-except-for-WoW-which-sucks.com but it didn't have the same ring to it. So instead us WoW players are treated like second class citizens whist our ears are burned by pseudo-intellectuals that constantly bash the game, and call us kids, despite the fact the majority of us are actually older than they are, and don't have time for their hardcore kids games.
Bah! I say to thee! Let them wallow in their ignorance, whilst we bask in the near-utopian paradise and never-ending party of Azeroth. For the Horde! (Ok for the Alliance as well, if you must)
Still waiting for your Holy Grail MMORPG? Interesting...
Im sure if you told the people on the WoW forum to come here and vote, the rating would be much much higher ;D

This site is contains a more experienced playerbase that started playing MMO's long before WoW came out, to the rest of the MMO world, WoW is a joke and a breaze. If this was a site for newbies and kids, then WoW would be ranked higher.
WoW is great.................if your 12 or new to the genre
Sad... WoW is a fine MMORPG Compared to dozens and dozens of others
It's well made although I am not the biggest fan of seamless environment because of the lag involved
even though Lineage 2 did it right..
It was never innovative or anything but It was still fun.. for a little while
But frankly I'd rather have my teeth pulled than play another asian grind MMO
WoW was something different, with the mindless repetitive grinding came
something many games lack... a decent storyline, regular updates, a decent
GM base..
Actually the only game I've seen with better GMs is final fantasy.

I guess i'm one of those more "experienced" players you talk about. I've been playing mmorpg's for a long time now. Yet, i'd rather play with kind newcomers then with the fringe, self proclamed mmo experts who are all seem to be a bunch of selfglorifying neurotics these days.

Ridiculous and utterly untrue.
1) Beginner MMO - false.
Do you know how many EQ players left for this game? A great many, that's for sure. A huge percentage of the most respected and famous guilds left, for World of Warcraft. Some of the most dedicated and experienced gamers you will ever meet. I can speak for myself too, my guild, left EQ entirely for this game.
Just because the MMO was a niche genre before WoW came along, which blew the entire thing into mainstream, does not mean that a huge portion of ex-MMOers did not play it. You will also find that most of the EQ guilds that left for this game, are still there.
2) Easier than other MMOs - false.
You're confusing accessibility, or diluting content with time, or gentle learning curve with ease. WoW is no easier than other MMOs. Hell, I've raided at the highest level of EQ, had my corp completely wiped out in EVE due to war, and they're still no harder than WoW.
Misconception number fracking one about WoW is that it's easy. Mostly because people do not know what they're talking about when they say this.
3) Full of kids - false.
I don't know how many times I have to say this, but the low levels in any game tend to be filled with kids. EQ2 and LOTRO are very appropriate examples of this. If you're on a PvP server, sure, you might get some immaturity - but this is exactly the same as other MMOs.
This is probably the second biggest misconception about WoW.
The fact is, WoW is just the popular kid that people love to hate. Perhaps this mainstream appeal is too much for the hardcore nerd inside some of us, and you cannot accept the fact that your hobby isn't obscure and unfashionable anymore.
I bet you, that there are more experienced MMOers playing WoW (who played MMOs before it came out), then there are in any single other MMO. Simple mathematics and common sense when you think about it, and don't hearken to the bitter jaded psychopaths that hate WoW with a burning passion.

A lot of the people here are experts, they come from the time when EQ1, UO, DAoC, and AO were the games to play, WoW is just the Disneyworld of MMO's, a bunch of cartoonish figures and the children that enjoy them
I'd be willing to bet that a huge percentage of posters are here because they're killing time until the next game that grabs them is released. Also, we here are such a small percentage of the MMORPG market, just because WoW isn't tops with us, that doesn't mean it isn't #1 with the 8 million plus gamers out there.

I remember back in the day when final fantasy 11 was still fairly new WoW came out
A bunch of my friends left ffxi to play WoW for a few months and not a single one of them stayed.
Awesome break though

Wow, reading comprehension isn't your strong point is it? I said a "huge percentage", which means yes - someone stayed, obviously. FoH, Triton are far more reputable or at least well known than all of those guilds put together. North Star Avengers, who the hell are they? Were they even playing EQ in 1999-2003?

While I'm not a big fan of playing with 12 year olds in general, the fact of the matter is that WoW is a polished, relatively bug free game.
I'm with Warblaze on this one. WoW is by no means perfect...it's sort of the Big Mac of MMOs, but it gets beat up on because it has taken the second generation MMO to its zenith. Now it's up to the developers out there to come up with the third generation MMO that is as polished, is as relatively bug free, and is as accessable as WoW to push the envelope.
CH, Jedi, Commando, Smuggler, BH, Scout, Doctor, Chef, BE...yeah, lots of SWG time invested.

Flowers of Happieness was not reputable, they were just a low lvl twink pvp guild and theres one in EQ2, and yes, if you ever played on a pvp server you wold know them, and who the hell is Triton?
Ah of course, you're not even playing an MMO. How very typical. Explain to me then, briefly, your experiences in WoW and how you arrived to your erroneous conclusions about the game, instead of just telling us it sucks? Because I for one call you out on your experience and I don't think you know anything about EQ1 or the MMO scene pre-WoW. And who the hell are North Star Avengers?

Ok, you've proved your inexperience in EQ1 pre-WoW era. Especially with that North Star Avengers crap. And the fact you thought I meant Flowers of Happiness is another big red mark on your questionable knowledge on the matter.
Still waiting for your Holy Grail MMORPG? Interesting...
Played on Nathrezim i was an Orc Warrior, got to 68 in two months and didnt even feel like refreshing account to bust out other two lvls, was fully prot spec and Karahazan ready, guild was Dark Chaos, and yeah im from Rallos Zek, original Transcendency member, and i fear you know little about eq1, atleast in terms of pvp
WoW is popular because Blizzard has mastered the art of providing players with instant gratification through simplicity and polish. While a lot of players prefer being guided through the entire game for a quick fix with no resistance, some of us still hope for a MMO with depth and challenge with different end game objectives other than endless, static repetitive gear grinding.
Ah Google, you expert you:
So um, yeah. 2003 huh? You old-school expert you.
Still waiting for your Holy Grail MMORPG? Interesting...
So you played on Sullon Zek, commonly known as the armpit of EQ, the most immature collection of people ever to grace the internet. You don't know who Triton are, you think PvP in EQ1 was any good, and you think North Star Avengers are well known old-school guild (that started in.... 2003)
Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, I rest my case.
Still waiting for your Holy Grail MMORPG? Interesting...
One i stated im from Rallos Zek, and join NSA when the Zek servers combined, and they were a large guild and they are still around so there for reputable, so shut ur face and prevent any more ignorance from escaping
They're not old-school. You're not old-school. You seem to have no idea how many ex-EQ1, DAoC, AO, AC players are playing WoW right now. You thought I meant Flowers of Happiness, a Sullon Zek guild, but you should have known FoH is generally known to anyone who knows anything about MMOs that FoH = Fires of Heaven. I could forgive that, because reading about Fansy at the time was funny as hell -but he was the only good thing to come out of Sullon Zek, the cesspit of EQ - and you dare call WoW players kids? Sure....
As for "shut ur face", this must be that maturity you were telling us WoW kids about?
You have no basis for your comments about WoW, if I may theorize, you are just caught up in the bitter-anti WoW culture that's pretty much exclusive to this site, and you think you're being smart and unique by bashing 8.5 million players. You say it's full of kids, I can say with full certainty that, proportionally speaking, you are wrong. WoW has more adults than your favourite MMOs combined, probably.
Still waiting for your Holy Grail MMORPG? Interesting...
Oh really, and what names did I call you? Hmmm? At least your previous rhetoric was less easily rebuked.
And by calling me an idiot you're proving my point even further. You talk exactly like an EQ1 PvPer. And you say that WoW players are immature?
