Well, ive officially had it with PC gaming. Its stagnant, nothing appeals to me on the horizon, MMO's are a dead genre and stuck in a never-ending asshole of sucking, and im just basically sick of the DX10 babble and empty promises. A few weeks ago I thought about all that, and decided to sell my baby, my monster gaming PC, and "downgrade" to a "weaker" system, albeit processor and RAM are better, as well as a more stable motherboard, only thing I lost was the gaming power of the 2900XT, I now own a 2600XT. Anyways...
I got about $1000 on me, as well as a $400 Walmart Credit Card. This weekend im going to punk out and pick up a PS3 while they are $500, Final Fantasy XII since its the only FF game ive never played , and maybe MLB: The Show. Im also going to snag 2 more Wii Remotes, Mario Party 8, Wii Play, and Sonic and the Secret Rings for me and the family.
My decision was based on not only the above rant on PC gaming, but stability. I dont have to upgrade my console every year to play the best shit the way it was ment to be viewed (high settings), the console will do that for me. The Wii and PS3 also have a few games im interested in, the obvious ones being Metroid Prime 3, Super Smash Brothers Brawl, Mario Galaxy, but also that game Lair for the PS3, Star Wars the Force Unleashed, Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, and Ninja Gaiden Sigma.
Although I dislike Sony very much and still think the PS3 is overpriced, at least im getting a Blu-Ray player out of it which seems to be taking down HD-DVD (dont turn this into a HD-DVD vs BR argument, I will be a dickhead and report). and the capability to play some older PS2 games I never got a chance to, like FF XII mentioned above, and I can continue back to playing Final Fantasy and some decent RPGs, which the PC, Xbox and Wii (so far) lack.
I guess this means im going to have to "take back" alot of the things I said about the PS3, since the Wii and the PS3 will be my future and extent of my gaming. I still think Methane sucks though.

Couldnt be any worse than my past decision to buy an Xbox 360. I sold that real quick.

I love the Xbox 360.... It is more fun than PC gaming for me now....
It was nothing in particular, it was a collaboration of things, such as $200 for the HD-DVD attachment, which brought it to $600, same price as the PS3 with Blu-Ray, a larger HD, free online play, and obviously "better" hardware. Also a severe lack of RPG's, and anything in the future. I didnt want a console that completely revolved around the potential success of Halo, and not to mention the horrible warranty policies.

Grand Theft Auto IV will have updates and online content that is for Xbox 360 and not PS3.
The major MMORPGs will be for Xbox 360....
PS3 is a HUGE rip off; they just lowered the price on it.

And they don't make you buy the HD-DVD player and pay that extra money like the PS3 does. and as for "better hardware" I could beg to differ, if used right the PS3 hardware could be at best 2% better. you can get a larger HD for the 360 than you can for the PS3, and the 360 does not revolve around Halo, there are many games out for it, and many many on the way.
Anyways, Im getting a PS3. Not buying another 360, thats that.

Its not that I wouldnt give it another shot, im just not going to go spend $400+ on something ive already bought and sold. Just not having fun with PC gaming anymore, so its back to my roots.

Metal gear solid 4 makes me want to buy a PS3 bad. Though I'm more of a PC gamer, lately atleast.

Okay, I will break this done point-by-point.
1- Yes, MS shelled out $50 million to have exclusive rights to a couple content expansions. For which, no XBOX live price has been mentioned. In the state of affairs as it shows anything towards the future, it will be nearly as much as the game. XBOX 360 also will not have user created content available where Home for the PS3 will.
2- Define "major". Blizzard has told ALL the consoles to sod off. So there goes the 800lb Gorilla. NCsoft just signed exclusive rights to work with PS3. Guild Wars is an easy port and I don't doubt it will happen. Last I checked they had a few players. Sure, you could get into the arguement about GW not being an MMO or *you* don't think it's a *major" game. But that is specultion. Tabula Rasa and Aion could also be easy ports and both of which are looking promising. Let us also not forget that Sony, unlike MS, actually has it's OWN MMO department from which to draw. While some of their games has been questionable that is still a multi-million user playerbase from which to draw.
3a- Okay, so your basis for the PS3 being a huge rip-off is because they dropped the price? Well then. 360 is screwed since they are going through a pricedrop in Q4 this year. $50 drop. It MUST be a rip-off. I mean, the 360 department is ONLY reporting a $1.89 profit LOSS this quarter due to the 360 Belly-up Model that seems to have been sold the most.
3b- On point three I will also pose you a simple question: Do you OWN a PS3? If not, you're not exactly an expert witness on it, now are you? Oh, you're probably going to ask me if I own a 360 next. Yes, I own a 360 Elite, PS3, Wii, 2 DS, and a PSP. So yup, I get to speak from experience on EVERY freaking possible console out there. I still have to ask how the PS3 is a ripoff at $499? That's $20 more than the 360 Elite...sure, $100 more than the 360 with 60gb HDD....but you still have no wireless built-in. ZING, that's a $100 part from MS. Now, you also have to pay $59/yr to have access to online gaming on 360. Oh, by the way, you STILL get NO next-gen DVD for that price. For the love of God, unless you know what you're talking about don't spout fanboyisms at people. I, at least, have knowledge on every system and know what I am talking about. In fact, I will even post the link to my review of the big three here for you in a moment when I grab it again.
In short, it's far from a rip-off. The debate about titles for the given consoles is a whole other story, but I remember the shoddy catalogue for the 360 in it's first 6 months. Hell, I even like stupid things like the fact that for $10 whopping bucks more when I buy Stranglehold for my PS3 I get the Bluray version of "Hard Boiled" the prequel to the game on the same disk. $10!!! Woohoo. And I still don't have to pay to play my online games. The only bonus that I will give to the 360 hands down when it comes to online playing in the gamertag system on Live!. But that will be countered by Home shortly.

I completely agree with the OP. I as well have had this realization and am tired of starting at forums or watching every video about WAR. I used to be a console hater but with some of these new games coming out late 2007 and early 2008 it is hard to resist.
I am going to buy a PS3 as well. I want to be able to play my games on a 1080p LCD and enjoy every moment of it. There are several exclusives on PS3 as well as many of the Xbox ones that will be on all platforms. If you buy a PS3 in my opinion you wouldn't be missing out on much (unless you like that wretched "FPS" game that I will not mention." I still don't understand the whole console wars and why people need to get others on their side to feel better about their buying decision.

Actually, the PS3 hardware can be boosted in performance up to 30% according to the latest firmware nots from the PSU. The folks at Folding@Home also looked into making a Folding client for the 360 but found it was slower than many of the top end PCs already out there and slower than the PS3.As for getting a larger HDD for the 360, you have to jury rig the propietary case for the 360 to change the HDD out, unless you only want the 120GB. The PS3 has a simply little 3.5" laptop drive slot right on the side. It takes about 40 seconds to change the drive out. My only complaints is that BOTH companies are using 5400rpm drives, and BOTH won't let external storage save games and demos without using the backup utility....and BOTH idiots used FAT32 for their freaking file tables on the external storage. WOOHOO. FATfreakin32. Let's go back to Win3.11 next. It's a bitch to format FAT32 over 32GB and you are limited to files that are 4GB or less. Whichever genius thought, "Well, since we don't need file level permissions let's go FAT32 instead of NTFS." needs to be shot....twice....for posterity....and bill the family for the round.
As for the MMO, I covered that in my other post. BOTH are getting MMOs. Major RPGs, both are getting some good ones. FF still holds a lot of power for the PS3, but MS has a few goodies coming out (Fable 2 will most likely hit the 360).

Nope, only the Xbox 360 Elite includes an HDMI cable right now.
