Don't care if the chicken came before the egg or the other way around.

If  Warhammer is fun, I'll play it.

I played Warhammer tabletop long before Warcraft came out. Don't care if Blizzard borrowed ideas from Warhammer.

Don't care if they are similar.

Not sure why it's such a big deal either.

Can someone explain why it's even an issue?

Issue is that people say: "Omg WAR=WoW", because they look a bit similar and the basic Setup is similar (Good Defenders vs. Evil Attackers, so to speak)... that wouldn't be much of a problem if it was true, but it isn't. It's an insult to WAR to compare it to WoW, you know, if you are a Tabasco Sauce, you'd be insulted if someone said: "Omg lol, you are like woodruff syrup!"

WoW has no bad guys, Orc's are freed from humans enslavement, tauren are cows, basically hippy cows, undead are rebels from the scourge , and just want to be free, trolls are, well just trolls, neither side is neccisarily the evil side, heck they are supposed to have a "shaky treaty" in warhammer, destruction are in fact evil.

Though we have heard of stupid haste in war, cleverness has never been seen associated with long delays.

It's not an issue. We just need something to rant about.

Let's seeeee.... Warcraft Orcs look exactly like Warhammer Orcs (and I'm talking about the Artwork and Miniatures which existed before Warcraft 1), WC Dwarves look exactly like WH Dwarfs, Humans...well are Humans, but they are on the exact same level of technology as the Empire, with Steamtanks and Gunpowder Weapons, but also Bows and Crossbows.

Yes, over time, Warcraft changed it's lore so much that similarities aren't obvious anymore, but the Graphical Style of Warcraft still shows clearly where it came from.

Actually, as far as I know, Steamtanks and Gunpowder are dwarven technology. If you had a brother who looked just like you, you wouldn't go shout "OMFG! You're a copy of me!". I could draw a smiley and put it on net, nobody would accuse me of copying :P

But I won't deny that there are no graphical similarities, but both games have developed into something unique both ways. There's no point in saying "Gah, you copied off me 15 years ago, now you gotta destroy everything you have!!"

In the end, you whole statement is true, but there's more to notice. Many focus on what's alike, but the important is to focus on what makes them different. WAR and WoW will not remind about eachother once you start playing.

EDIT: I don't think it is a insult for WAR to be compared to WoW, both are good games or future good games, and are competitors in the MMO world.

The problem is that every WoW and AoC fanboi comes on these forums and tries to compare the two to discredit the game.Apparently there are trolls on here that think you have to hate this MMO if you like any of the others.

To be fair AoC has been getting hit pretty hard as well.

It boils down to a sports fan drunk off his butt... He yells and screams with blind hatred at any apposing team and rambles on about so and so sucks and the owners are (insert racial/sexual slur here) in true idiotic fashion.

Because the spread so much hate and false information fans have no choice but to come over and smack them around until they go away... They lick their wounds for a day and are back again... Such is the cycle of life for an MMO waiting to be released.

I really hate the War and WoW comparisons, but the more I read about the amount of Instanced PvP it seems that WAR's PvP might be alot more similar to WoW's

WAR's PvP seems to be drastically different from DAOC's RvR and more similar to WoW's BGs.

With WAR's RvR instances they will be point based, and will be the biggest amount of victory points to change zone control. It is all point based stuff. Which is pretty much what WoW is, whoever has the most points is the winner....

That all seems a lot like WoW, along with only 2 sides fighting and instanced point based crap.

DAOC on the other hand is completely different from that, the RvR was all open world, it was objective based where you would take keeps and relics. 3 sides added to the interesting and fun RvR.

The more I look at WAR the more I see an expansion on WoW's retarded PvP system instead of an expansion on RvR. Do we really want RvR to be all about which side has the most points and can run X instances X times a day to push the zone control. Also if one side is clearly outnumbered then there is no 3rd realm to help kill the over populated zerg realm. The more I learn about WAR's "RvR" the more I don’t like it.

I understand and agree with your concerns, jezvin.  But don't you think it's a little premature to be making comments like the one that I quoted.  You could just as easily say DAOC was all about which side has the most keeps & can run X relic raids X times a day.

It's just my opinion, so take it as you will, but I'll wait to see how the game actually going to work before I worry about hypothetical situations like you described.

Edit:  The part that I agreed with you about the most is that I too wish WAR was going to be totally open world RvR.  But I'm hopeful that there will be enough open world RvR that I never have to go inside of an instance.
