I've posted this in a few threads. But I figured I might as well make a new thread for this.
So far this is what we know for the new WoW expansion coming out.
- The continent of Northrend added to the world of Azeroth. Northrend is about the size of Outland.
- Content for players level 68 and up.
- Level cap increased from 70 to 80.
- Brand new abilities and talents introduced.
- New "Hero" class added - the Death Knight; this class will need to be unlocked through certain criteria before it becomes available.
- New Profession: Inscriptions - allowing you to permanently enhance spells and abilities.
- Siege Weapons and Destructable Buildings added to the PvP landscape, as well as a new Battleground.
- A plethora of new Dungeons, including 25-player Raid Dungeons and Heroic variants.
- An abundance of new quests, monsters, items, and recipes.

Y'know... I tried. I tried real hard to Believe in a Blizzard Entertainment that was locked away behind an Iron Clad NDA.
& It sounds like theyre trying to appease more than just the raiders of the game, which is good. But the premise of the game was misleading from the start, and I am sure this is just another clever ploy to make it look like a diverse game that takes more than one play style into account, but at the end of the day, you know who is going to benefit most from the new content? The people that were already at the top.

The Kurgan. He is the strongest of all the immortals. He's the *perfect* warrior. If he wins the Prize, mortal man would suffer an eternity of darkness. -- How do you fight such a savage? -- With heart, faith and skill. In the end there can be only one.
Guess what an Expansion is for? It for the people that are at the top to get new things to do. There for of course it will benefit the people who have already beaten the last expansion. That is how EQ1 worked and that is how all Expansions work. It adds more content to the game that the major of players need to keep paying to play the game. Get over yourself and understand that it is a business and when your product becomes old/boring, its time to come out with the next one.
Sooner or Later
Thats fine, I don't object to that, What I object to is the fact that it usually only benefit's them.

Since when is the status quo a good stick to measure by? If your saying that the expansion model and its content are like those of older MMORPGs you aren't making a positive point. Its time to advance this genre instead of remodeled versions of yesteryear's games. And its not going to be done by making content for raiders and only raiders.

Hi, I live in a little place I like to call : "Reality"
The product (World of Warcraft) was old/boring when it hit the shelf because its modeled after EQ. Did it have some new bells and whistles that made it fresh and attractive? Sure it did, but just like EQ, only a few ever got to see the content 85% of the population wanted to see but couldn't due to the social dependency of raiding and groups, followed with scheduled play and bossy guilds.
and by the way, Raiders are not " the major of players" that you prominently speak of, why is 95% of the new content made just for them? They are rewarded in gear for their patience. Not skill.
I said GOOD DAY, SIR.

I've been hearing that blizzard wants to try with this next expansion to retain and gain new numbers of the pvp crowd that is poised to go to AOC/WAR.
If that is their intent, then I suggest blizzard put out more info about it before AOC, or at least WAR's release.
I hope so, i hope this keeps many WoW players far away from AoC or WAR. that would be a godsend as someone who plans on playing WAR.

"...stare into the abyss for the abyss stares back unto you."
There is some merit in that old saying, and I think you'll find that players in MMOs are largely influenced by what kind of atmosphere the game itself fosters.
The Realm? True RPGers
Ultima Online? True PvP RPGers
EQ? Elitist Raiding Pricks.
WoW? Elitist Raiding Pricks. / B.Net kids.
Its natural to think a flood at the lake will bring the water to your doorstep but do consider the elements that cause people to act or think in a certain way, We all want to be "immersed" inside our MMORPG's and sometimes if the MMORPG of our choice fosters a crappy mindset through the need for selfish play (raiding, slot machine drops) then the people will foster that conduct as well.

Wow, already diverting attention away from the blunder of TBC. It looks like they are adding in a whole lot of stuff that was promised over and over and over and over and over and over again or was said that was going to be in the game since the start but then was removed. Seems like the China release bumped it up to 9million which looks good on paper I suppose all the while ignoring those who have quit since the expansion. Hopefully they will fix the blunders of this expansion with another?
Hopefully it does something cuz I lost all respect for the game when they released TBC.
A new expand for World of Warcraft, KeK ?
Now I just wondering about you flying mount. Can you fly in Northrend with you newly epic flying mount to 5000G or is it limited to only Outland..............
sounds alright. all it needs now is collission detection and mount combat.
What's going to happen to wow once they defeat the Lich King he's supposed to be like the ultiment evil. They'll probly start making random monsters for people to fight like the Undead Cookie Monster whos level 900 and more destructive then the burning legion and the Lich king combined with 10 more new levels.

I agree with you saying but WoW couldn't release enough expansions to make me go back
While I do currently enjoy WoW, this preview, I hope, is only the beggining because I don't see anything truly new and exciting except for maybe the hero classes and new destructible buildings. The hero classes hopefully will have some good variety and bring some diversity to the current "fad" builds currently employed in the game, or at least pve wise. I would like to see pve builds have more crossover into pvp so that certain raiding classes such as paladins and druids won't have to change specs in order to pvp more efficiently in world pvp. Honestly, the only thing I may be looking forward to in this "leaked" preview is the hero classes.
In the end, logic and reason always beat out fanboys.

so you just troll the wow forums then.....good job.Oh another expansion. Sick and tired of WoW ***t.
Well, new class. sounds great and all, but...There's going to be a billion of them. Everyone eligible is going to switch to death knight.lol
Argh
lol, true. One hero class isn't enough at all. They need to add at least half a dozen for variety. I think its a bit lazy there's only one hero class but its early who knows. Blizzard was incredibly lazy with TBC, filling with crappy faction grinds which made me quit ages ago so I don't have much faith in them atm.
This new expansion is bad for me, as I'm just starting the game soon. Is it worth getting the expansions if I'm not level 60?
My prediction is that this expansion will suck big time (as it seems quite rushed) and could mark the beginning of the slow, slow loss of subbers.
They won't lose subs. Their current tactic is when they lose subs in one area they open up the game in another. Just look at their newly listed 9mil number. Notice how they opened up to china (the worlds largest population) and it only went up 500k? It went up probly around 2mil, but they didn't record the loss of the other areas leaving the game.
Hopefully the new expansion will do something innovative since they have yet to do that with this game.
Ok, scratch out points 3,4,6,8,9 and u might, just might, have a successful expansion. If they raise the lvl cap to 80 their 9 million number will go bye bye.
Hah no kidding. I'm sure 5000G in the new expansion will be peanuts though. You'll probably be able to make that in an evening @ 80.
I refuse to believe this. Unlockable classes = overpowered, higher level cap = even worse..... WTF.
Wow I totally overlooked that. Unlockable Hero class?
Uh, hello SWG?
I'd rather have 2 new normal classes than a game breaking Alpha class, personally i think this is all BS and there wont be Hero classes anyways.
Siege Weapons and Destructable Buildings added to the PvP landscape, as well as a new Battleground.
be afraid of warhammer my friend
i think 10 lvls more now will end tbc 25 man raiding as tbc did with bwl/mc/aq when tbc came out, bad decission imo
I believe its all BS also but the Hero Classes was one of the more believable things in there. They've been talking about adding Hero Classes since the damn game launched (devs).
well not the DK Hero Class, that the one thing that screams BS.
