There is going to be a server merge soon, so we probably can get a better view of the pop then. I never see anyone on the FFA PVP server I play but see an occasional message in world chat.
The FFA PvP server is doing that bad? Im considering returning to Vanguard but I dont want to return to an empty server and play all alone. I guess I should wait untill the server merge before I come back... or make a character on a team PvP server or a PvE server.
Look at it this way prof....go to pvp now, twink a toon without interuption, server merger happens and you are geared
There is enough content to solo now, or better yet, lvl up on a team v. team to provide group opportunities before the merger
I already have a level 30 something on the FFA PvP server (Tharridon?) I wouldnt want to start a whole new character. Im not as much worried about not finding groups, I dont mind soloing at all, but I dont want to be on a dead server with just a few people on it and feel like Im playing a single player game. So what I guess I'm trying to ask, Is the FFA server completely empty and is there some what of a community on it? Thanks.
combinded peak numbers is not equal to active players. 100% of active players are not always on at peak times. And the decline in a pvp population on a heavily pve game totally misconstrues reality.
I am not saying VG numbers are increasing or declining or even stabalizing, I am just saying that people are twisting numbers to validate the assumptions and opinions they had. A Vanbois will twist numbers show an increase in population, while a hater will twist the numbers to show a decline.
It is more likely what another poster said, SOE is going to let us know when the numbers are bouncing back. And in the same vane, they aren't giving up on the game until the game is working. If it works and is polished and still cannot attract a stable population that keeps them financially in the black, we will know by the game's shut down. But I highly doubt they would have invested in this game if they weren't committed to make it work and didn't see its potential for making money. They could be wrong, they have been before.
Ok, fair enough. But peak populations are certainly indicative of total pop. They may be a bit of a leading indicator since non-active players will tend to stop subs over time. So what is the total pop? Double peak pop? 5 times peak pop? 10 times peak pop? Its hard to imagine a scenario in which 300 peak pop on a server could translate to more than 5000 active accounts for that server, right?
Lol not really.... but then again I guess 1 person is a population. From the news out of Fan Faire it's just about dead - no plans for a relaunch, the server mergers are it - it's sink or swim from here on out. I put my box away as a momento and continue on with EQ2 - you can't beat it. With their promise of an expansion a year, and with the quality of the expansions always high and the awesome extras they offer their players, I'm staying there.
Actually, in all fairness, that does amount to "nothing." This is exactly the same list as we saw right after rhe SOE take over. Its striking that: (1) nothing new has been added and (2) none of the milestones have been met.
There's no talk of expansions and so on that ALL ongoing MMOs always have at their fan faires.

According to the lead dev, as of four weeks ago, BOTH PvP servers collectively had only about 500 active players. Its not clear how they were distributed between the two PvP servers. However, since they are scapping the team PvP server and keeping the FFA, I assume that the FFA had most of those accounts.
Other posts on this thread have described those servers as a wasteland. And you can assume that there wont be MORE than 500 active subs when they are combined.
