So, though it will be MMOG-like, it will not be a MMOG. The max players is 32, which is not MM by any sense, so it is more like a Diablo or NWN server setup. That is, of course, unless the online information is incorrect.
I "think" the 32 was from a quote from 2006.

1. Hellgate: London is an action-RPG with a fully developed singleplayer mode and multiple online modes. Our online modes vary, too. Some will be comparable to Diablo (your typical 2 to 32-player instanced experience or whatever), while another may include more MMO-like functionality and will thus be comparable to those sorts of games (Guild Wars and whatnot).
Also at about the same time they stated this.

7. Q. How many people can be around the stations at the same time?
A. The on-paper limit right now is a hundred or so. When more people try to enter a station, a duplicate of that station will be created and those people will be funneled into that duplicate. Of course, their groups will always be maintained, first and foremost. So, when a group of 10 tries to enter a station with 95 people in it, the whole group will be transferred to a duplicate of that station. This entire process will be completely transparent to the end user.
So according to this it be similar to guildwars as for as the hubs go.
So its still as much as a MMOG as guildwars is and guildwars is on this site. Then again I never considered GuidWars or D&D Online true MMOGs.
Me either. Even from that quote, it is no where near being an MMOG, just an MOG. In any case, it looks like a great game. I will buy it anyway just for the single player aspect.
im sure theyd have to make that more than 100 people simultaneously in one map given that hgl is p2p and gw isnt. But still out of those 3, hellgate is ftw. Gw take on online multiplayer is good as it is, i dont see what the problem is. Although some people feel that if it is like that, it feels less immersive.. yeah maybe true... but the world is persistent so is your character. Plus what matters the most is gameplay, and tbh bill roper, the creator of diablo.. one of the most classic games of all time. Cant g owrong can you? I felt like bill was blizzard and now that he isnt there its not the blizzard i came to know
These three titles are all games that (if all goes well) will be released within 1-2 months from each other. So far I have been looking into all 3 of them with great interest, especially because I REALLY want a damn new mmorpg to play, since WoW just got old and has too many flaws to me. Now what it has come down to for me, personally, is that I will buy Hellgate:London and play it online with friends, without subscribing (I still like that the possibility to that is there). Since I can allow myself to afford 1 monthly subscription fee, it's either Ages of Conan or Tabula Rasa for me. So far it looks like Tabula Rasa is released earlier (my favourite store saying 31st of august, some others 4th of september). Now, since I come from WoW I am really a PvE kind of guy, and Tabula Rasa, even tho they havent mentioned the word ''raid'' or whatever, seems extremely fun to play. The combat system looks pretty solid, quest system is deep etc. I'm just wondering about what the endgame will be in TR. Ages of Conan greatly appealed to me because of its wow-like endgame approach, promis of less grindage and really fun looking classes. However, I've been seeing some movies lately (specifically of warrior and melee like classes)...the combat system looks extremely...''clunky'' to me. I know it is a whole new system, but for some reason it just looks like your not really making an impact on the enemy with your combo's, aswell as if you turn away say 60 degrees from your enemy, you still hit him <_<. Now, in all of these 3 titles, which do you think will turn out as the ''overall better mmorpg''? I know, it is purely subjective, if I didn't know that I wouldn't have made the topic. People have various reasons for liking these games, and I would like to hear why YOU behind the computer there would enjoy Tabula Rasa more than AoC or Hellgate, or the other way around.
Honestly only AoC stands a chance for MMO title hellgate is not one however it LOOKS good.. For for a really mmo AoC is the only one you listed that id play much. Don't forget that WAR is comming out about then too its really a fourway.
that and TR is just a bunch of talk
